So, I've made a thing! Seeing as the new X-Men movie is coming out, I decided to draw two of my favorite characters!

And apparently I have a distinct style of facial lines now, so that makes me happy, I think.

    Spoiler: Professor Xavier and Magneto

And as a bonus thing, I made Comic Magneto and Mystique! I'm... a bit.. well.. bad at drawing a female oots style thingy.

Those all look quite nice Mad Hatter I especially like the comic/cartoon style Magneto.
Regarding lady OotS: women will take some time to get down. I still have problems making them

I have a question aimed at nobody in particular... is it bad that I don't like using my own work as my avatar? I feel as though I'm showing off when I do :/

I might be biased because I like to use my own avatars (sometimes because I make the images specifically thinking what I'd like to see)

I'm not totally satisfied with the coloring of the dress, though. I mean, can't exactly expect it to be on par with the actual Elsa design, but it still looks overly solid to me.

I prefer using my own work, when there's a specific idea or image in my mind that I want to convey or represent then I'll definitely stick with my own stuff because I know exactly what I want to sit inside of those 120x120 pixels. Sure, I could request an avatar or use someone else's work. But that wouldn't be that one specific image I had in my head, just something similar to an idea I tried to convey.

If that makes any sense at all. Anyways,

I often reuse objects in several drawings if I feel they'd fit well into a new image. If you check my Photobucket you can tell that several objects are shared by several avatars/images I've drawn. Swords, expressions, clothes, poses, etc.

    Of course.

I'd wager to say that Flash is the ultimate drawing program when it comes to alternate variations of the original Oots style. Of course that comes with a hefty price tag and a steep learning curve. But it's worth it. (IMO) Unfortunately, most of the Playground's Flash artists died out with the banning of animated avatars. I haven't seen another serious Flash artist here in at least 2 years.

Who knows, maybe it will be a thing again someday.

Also the fact that Adobe tries to progressively ruin Flash every successive version, CS4 was brilliant and then things went downhill...

But then again the software I use is now considered discontinued and I should be looking into migrating to something else, and considering I already use flash builder and a little Flash, transitioning fully to Flash rather than Illustrator is my most likely end.

Interesting, but I fear the hands are way too small for the character. Nice usage of colored outlines instead of the traditional black. I would've cut the details on the legwork, particularly on the thighs, so the dreamcatcher (?) was more visible.

You have really good linework, the only thing that bugs me is that his pants are the same color as his arms. Makes it look like he has giant meaty legs.

Blame my absence on ponies and Harry Potter fanfiction.

    Actually this is pony related...

Some of my pony characters humanized. It's weird that 3 of them look better in OotS style then they did as ponies... (The middle 3, if you were curious)

In related news I also have a new avatar.

asdflove, I have something I think you'll either love me for or hate me for, hating being the more likely. This is it.
Also, if you aren't in to dark and twisted music... don't look at any other One-Eyed Doll songs. You've been warned.

Of course drow barbarians, something so odd just has to be awesome!
And they aren't shorts, they're a leather/fur man-skirt thingy. Honestly, I don't know what exactly it'd be called but I wanted the crotch region covered and couldn't think of what to add - armor didn't look right. Totally open to suggestions.

Just change the shape. It looks... pretty disturbing right now. If you wanted to make a ripped leather kinda thing, it needs more spikes and holes. If it's fur, try to add some more "layers" of it so it doesn't look like a really tight brief.

I think I'll go with the layering idea, it sounds a bit more appropriate for the theme. Thanks

It's the theme to a game made by Artix Entertainment, Pony vs. Pony. I'd explain more, but it's one of those things that's easier to play than to describe.
