Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
@asdflove: I love the outfit and hair, it looks great.
@Punch_Bunny: Is this your first time making an OotS related item? If it is, you've done a fabulous job - if it's not, you still did a fabulous job.
I made a banner for myself regarding my goblins - people seem to like them, so why not show `em off?
A couple of these are currently being used as avatars, and other than the running couple, the rest were all made for the banner.Last edited by gurgleflep; 2013-09-23 at 08:21 PM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Asdf, while you could argue, very well, that the shading on the staff if not the best part, it's the first part I noticed, and my favorite. It's the little things that make a good artist- I haven't gotten very good at those yet. It just makes the whole thing more 3d. But not in an annoying way.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
So, I take it purple vein dude and balor dude were not for the banner?
Vampire dude looks pretty good. The blue girl seems to draw the eyes to her, but I can't help but look at the sweet couple in front. Good job on the banner.
I think it might look better with a background that isn't just off white, but don't feel any need to make one. It looks good. If you ever do make a background, color choice is going to be very important with all the different colored people.
Edit: it's probably a good thing you put the blue girl next to the more flesh tone girl. It seems to balance out, kind of.Last edited by NeoPhoenix0; 2013-09-23 at 11:59 PM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Purple vein dude? Do you mean the psion with the face tattoos? Him and the balor were unable to fit unless I shrunk them (and the rest of the goblins) down a bit more and that would take away from all the detail they've got - I didn't want to risk it.
Also, the backgrounds a light pink color; I stink at color options °///°
Glad you like the aquatic goblin though
Edit: Oh, and I made another couple of goblins xD A snow goblin and an underdark goblin known as the vril. Yes, I'm aware he looks like a gremlin

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Thanks gurgleflep! I basically made this 'by the numbers' following a tutorial that I found in the forums. I was mulling over this idea the moment I saw strip #916, but didn't put mouse to canvas for it until yesterday. Maybe I'll try something more unique like you have - imitation before innovation, I guess!

Edit: Ok 2 degrees might be an exaduration, but 5 is definately close to how much it takes to start messing up the apparent saturation on this screen.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought pregnant ._. She came out quite good though
On a completely different subject/note, I've discovered textures/extensions in Inkscape! I'm currently messing with the stuff I've found in a picture for the Iron Avatarist competition. I'm unsure of whether or not I should post it though... Kinda want it to be a surprise

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
@ gurgleflep: Your banner looks more interesting with the greenish?/blueish? background. Also, it looks more filled out with the way you positioned the goblins.

Thanks Schooling's what you should be focused on while at school anyway; don't be like me and have two senior years in high school
I think it's a mint-green, I'm not sure what exactly. Either way, thanks
Aaaand I've made more goblins.... Be careful, this is a huge picture.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Hey everyone, I signed up because I wanted to try out this art style. Please gimme as much crit as you can, I'm far behind all of you, and I want to catch up! I can take the criticizem, don't worry
So, ah, my first Oots style avvie ever. I want to get it to the point where I can happily use it as my forum avatar. As you can see though, it isn't really up to snuff.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Ok Renhotep, the first thing we need to know to help you as best as we can is to ask, what program are you using to make avatars.
Edit: some general things out of the way first, your middle fingers are too long, also we usually use a curve for the outer two fingers. The arms and legs overall seem too straight.
Also, any know why we shorten avatar to avi when there is no i in it? It just seems a little odd. Then again I think english is a very odd language, and I'm a native speaker.
Edit2: It looks like you are probably using inkscape. If you are, I suggest using this guide to get the basics. It can also help you with some of the controls. If you don't want to use a guide, It is probably still a good idea to look at some of the tutorials for the program you are using.Last edited by NeoPhoenix0; 2013-09-27 at 09:18 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Indeed. And I'm happy to say that the actual show is much better with her movement than her first trailer suggested. In that one the constant weapon-transformations and too-fast movements made her very hard to watch. But now I think the design is ok since it's been done better.
...
I still like the giant scythe more, though.Last edited by Deathkeeper; 2013-09-28 at 01:41 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Hey NeoPheonix0, thanks for the advice! I did those curves as you suggested, as well as slightly curving the middle finger as well. It looked odd, not being curved along with the others, I hope I am not in error.
No clue why we say "Avi", I picked it up from other people. I'll say avatar instead then .
You were correct about inkscape, by the way. I followed the tutorial you provided, however, since I wanted to finish the current avatar, I didn't do the "female" part first. I will do so for my second avatar though! I promise! So here he comes..
Cuthalion: Coooooool, love the weapon! I agree with NeoPheonix0 on the one arm being too big. Unlike her though, I think it is still too big in the small picture :( sorry. I'm a noob though, and PROBABLY have no idea what I'm talking about :D (Though, I assume forshortening works here in the same way it does with pencil art. . Which I'm actually good at).
