    1 Lieutenant for each 100

    • Quarry (granite or marble*) produces 500 marble or 1000 granite
    • Bay/Farm produces 30000 units of food

    * = choose one

Your population is made up like this
    Spoiler
    Show

Once you have bought your initial military, that counts as 1/3 your starting population, another 1/3 of your population is the working force, and is subsequently how your income is calculated:

    1/3 your population x 22 gp = Monthly GDP

The other 1/3 are babies, elderly folk and those who cannot serve or act. The working force not only calculates your GDP, but also determines what resources your receive. You must assign your workforce a trade, each tradesmen (your workforce) must choose a profession, for each tradesmen working in their specific trade, they add +0.005% to the output.

Carpenter, shipwright, smithy, farmer, miner, mason, lumberjack, whore*, servant*, cook*, fisherman, sailor*, trapper, alchemist, lawman, and animal trainer.

1 unit of food feeds one person per month. (any other way gets to ridiculous to keep track of, everything else will be monthly anyway.)
Experts now grant a bonus of +0.005%.
roughly 18000 farmers can feed 162000 people per month.
This leaves you with ~27,000 other workers to do stuff with.

Trade goods (units:market value of gp)
    gold/Gold ore = 1:1
    Silver/silver ore = 2:1

    Gold/Silver
Gold and silver can come in raw ore form, or coins, both are worth the same, the coin being easier to count, distribute etc.

This provides no other benefit thaN being able to purchase things.

    Iron
Iron and iron ore is an important commodity for many areas, it provides nails for construction, hinges for doors, rings and chains for dungeons and swords, etc.

By focusing on Iron production, you receive a -10% cost to all weapons and ships.

    Stone (Marble)
Marble is an exotic stone that only the rich have in their homes.

By focusing on Marble production, you gain a +15% to all noble diplomacy checks (for example, remaining loyal to your cause when offered bribes)

    Stone (Granite)
Granite is the key stone to all fortifications and embattlements.

By focusing on Granite, you gain a -5% to all fortifications cost, improvements, and repairs of all stone buildings.

    Lumber
Lumber is the most used resource next to food.

By focusing on lumber, you receive a -15% cost to ships, and wood based weapons and armor (shields, spears, javelins, bows, crossbows etc)

    Lumber (rare)
Weirwood, yew, redwood, etc… these rare lumbers offer not only exceptional quality items, but status as well.

By focusing on this resource, you gain a +1% population growth and income bonus.

    Foodstock
Food, you need it. To survive.

By focusing on this resource, you gain a +2% population growth bonus.

    Foodstock (rare)
Rare food items are the staple of a nobles diet, pomegranates. grapes pheasant, caviar, etc…

By focusing on this resource, you gain a +2 bonus on all Profession: soldier checks

    Furs
Furs are the product of trapping and provide the needed protection from the long winters, a costly and needed commodity, but put aside during the summers.

By focusing on this resource, your troops gain a +4 bonus to endurance when in cold environments, and your nation gains a +1% population growth modifier during winter.

    Clothes
Clothes cover your body. You need this. Unless you are from Dorne.

Focusing on this resource grants you a +1% income and +2 diplomacy bonus.

    Weapons
Weapons help people, kill other people, and occasionally protect other people.

Focusing on this resource grants you a +1 bonus to all Profession: soldier checks and to hit rolls.

    Focusing on a resource
You may focus on one resource (maybe more dependent on certain situations) at a time for 1 month, chosen at the beginning of the month. Focusing on a resource has no other benefit than that listed above.

these are actual trade values for people who will be trading to other players, or buying. they may fluctuate in game.

1 professional working a resource = 1 unit per month.

Rare resources are rare for a reason, you can't have 20k lumberjacks harvesting rare wood and then reep in the reward buying all your food. there is a limited amount of rare resources, and a limited amount of workers you can put into them.

Max Rare worker (marble, wood, foodstock, gold, silver) 1% of worker force.
so that should leave you with ~450, this is per rare resource.

This is not going to be the same as the books, you may, if you wish, play an original house, but you don't have to. It it not going to play out like the books either, it's going to be controlled mostly by the players (hopefully).

So, right now, I want interest, and your ideas, regale me with your epic ideas, and I'll choose up to 8 players, several slots will be reserved for people I know. Once players are chosen, we'll get down to creating nations and etc, please don't ask about classes, brew, or mechanical stuff like that, I will ignore it.

    Spies, Ravens, Alliances
    Spoiler
    Show

    Crows
PM’s can serve as ravens, say whatever you want to other players, let them know stats, or lie to them about everything. As you see fit.

There will be occasions where ravens/PM’s will not be permitted, obviously I cannot enforce it, so it will be up to you guys.

    Alliances
Alliances will grant each side a bonus to certain attributes, this will be behind the scene, but just now, that allying with someone is more than just words...

    Spies/assassins
Spies can be bought or placed very easily. To buy a spy, you must pay them, and they will freely deliver information by mouth. You may buy anyone you please, but loyalties are hard to remove.

    character GP amount Special
    NPC 20,000 gp -
Maester 1000 gp can send birds
Hedge Knight 500 gp Travels fast and gets by unnoticed
Commoner 30 gp By mouth only

Placing spies is different, you can tell certain people to go and spy on someone, sending them as gifts, or even just showing up on someones door.

Counter spying is possible, by paying your spies an additional amount, you can have them look for others of their trade. This can only be done only if you already have spies present.

    NPC +10,000 gp
    Maester +800 gp
    Hedge Knight +500 gp
    Commoner +30 gp

Information from spies is highly dangerous and unreliable, all information from spies will come directly from me.

If spies are found, then several things can happen, to the whim of the players imagination. Interrogation is a good method of extracting exactly who the spies are working for.

    Assassination attempts
You can have spies attempt to kill people, the money varies based upon the importance of the target (King -> Commoner) and so does the effectiveness.

Weren't we supposed to send info privately, so that our potential enemies won't have specific knowledge of our capabilities?

The rainwood has plenty of wood and little else, while the planes are lush with food, and beneath dragonstone many a precious stones (gems mostly) are mined near the lava flow, a place where men with nowhere else, or who sorely need the work risk their lives in search of wealth. In the surrounding province many a gem cutter makes it their business to make sure these gems are properly cut before they are traded across the narrow sea for gold.

May change to food as both make sense depending on what Bel works out the mechanics to be. Same for trades of my smallfolk.

Harkard Ray, son of Marris Ray, and hair to more control of the narrow sea then any other lord. A glorious title, but when he looked over his lands, that wasn't what he saw. He saw the woods in which he once played, the shores with seashells, and the stone dragons that had always terrified him as a child. his father had been a great merchant once. Known across westerose as "The Merchant King". his father had been a clever man, some would even say a genius. Not only had he managed trade that even these barren lands yielded what equivocated to a young lord's pocket change. However he did it, Harkard had been so sure he could do it better. His father had wed each of his sons and daughters to powerful houses, and it was said that the king before the old one was going to wed the old man to his daughter that he might rule the nation... or at least it was before that king birthed a healthy young babe. Harkard wanted all this and more for himself. He wanted the world, and he swore he would have it if he had to fight the others themselves without a sword to get it.

When the day finally came for him to accept his inheritance though, his father passed it on to his younger son Ridkard Ray. Ridkard Ray was always a sweet kid, compassionate and as unwavering in his faith in the seven as his father before him. Taking storm's reach for himself he gave the dragonstone that his father had always loved so much as a retirement, the sort of harsh unforgiving place his father had always felt most at home in. To his brother Hackard he gifted the rainswoods. Harkard had always loved hunting, and slaughtering seals along the coasts, so it seemed fitting that he should have them.

Old Marris Ray tends to hold up in his room these days, having the servants leave the meals at the door, and house Ray is famed for it's complete lack of militia, relying on servants, occasionally hiring mercinaries, or calling in a favor from another lord. It is for this that Harkard curses his fates for being born a Ray.

Alyssia Ray was always a distinguished noblewoman before she even reached womanhood, and after her mirage she only grew more so. Commandng by nature it is said (only half jokingly) that any army that tries to steal her away might be so terrified of her oppressive scolding that they'd make a hasty retreat within ten minutes. All the same she has a charming and courteous nature to her.

Grand Septa Bella Ray was always a pretty young girl, able to keep the boys at a distance with that famed reproachful glance of hers. Not the sort of girl that just any man could handle, but now, even married and soaking n the mother's blessings, Bella still preaches of the seven to all the young children of the house.

Bardif Ray was born silent, and has been for most of his life. Ocassional he'll mumble some words or give a simple answer, but he has always been a little simple in the head preferring the company of animals to humans. Even now, a married man, he often spends his time in the stables or with his dogs, leaving the rulership of his realm to his wife.

Overall Marris Ray preferred parties, feasts, and even festivities to things like war. Nowadays he sees little of either, locking himself up in his room day and night. At one of his rare feats he boldly declared. "I think it time that I also formally declare that all of my militia beyond a few guards for my homeland's defense, will be embarking across the narrow sea to combat the veil Dothraki horde. They will be leaving in one year's time (or perhaps a half year's time if I'm over eager), once I've had a chance to purchases supplies for the voyage." After that his youngest son made sure that he did not attend any more royal feasts, and to his dismay he saw his father channeling funds into the expedition after all.

Over the last decade old Marris is slowly loosing his sanity. Sad one moment, and suddenly howling into mad laughter whenever his house words are spoken. It's being covered up pretty well, but the old man, having dragonstone, controls most of the resources and soldiars of House Ray, and in his mad frenzy seems to be wasting them all. It doesn't help matters that all of the oldest and highest ranking members of the house militia, down to the old cooks and maids that truly command the castles still respect and listen to the man's ravings.

One of Marris's strongest supporters back in the day, she is often sought out for wisdom and carries the experience of generations which many a tactician might envy. For the most art she keeps waled up in her fort, though from time to time she'll attend an event. She has two young granddaughters, and another married off. one son off married into a bannerman household, and a rather old and respected bloodline.

Humbert Rainjackle can't help but to take his lot in life as a slight. Why would a man like him be stuck in such a lowly house. He loved the Rays, but he couldn't help but think he had something larger coming to him in life. He can often be seen with Harkard Ray, or in his home with his wife. On the other hand he has always had trouble with words, stuttering, doubling back, speaking backwards, and so he is always sure to say everything at least three times to get his point across. He is easily offended by anyone pointing this out or mocking it.

While their true bred stocks don't show any sines of draconic nature they are fierce and stronger then most others.
Despite all his draconic enthusiasm, the sad truth of the matter is that Richard prefers to gorge himself as much as any dragon, and to burn allot less off with fiery breath and flapping wings. Were he to ever see a real dragon he ay well need several changes of pant before he recovered.

The Monrays are not as long or prestigious as some. A bastard line of the Rays, they were promoted by Marris' great grandfather for their great achievements in the battle of red skies. In that battle it had been a small force and the mighty dragon Deathsbane against a large army that had meant to rebel. At the start of the battle the dragon flew forth to bath them in flames, and miraculously it was felled, filling the skies with the red hue of dragons blood with more pooling down below. Deathsbane was no small dragon, making it perhaps a more miraculous feat still. In the face of such a loss many of those in the smaller hoard fled. After all what had been assured victory had turned to an assured loss. Men in the bushes however felled all who ran. The Monray and his men at arms were directly below the dragon when the blow was struck, and were hit with a heavy downpour of the blood. Perhaps it was because of the concealment this offered, but somehow it seems the enemy hoard failed to notice that there were still enemies fighting them until more then half their forces had been killed. By the end only Monray himself and a handful of great knights survived. Afterwards they went on to form The Order of the Dragon's Blood. A powerful knighthood that enforced the king' will for a half century before a king found himself displeased by the name, and disbanded the sacred knighthood. Since then there have been whispers of them hiding nearby, now in the service of the Rays who still foster their founding bloodline at a high table rather then the king that disbanded their order.

    The Pykefalls

    Lord Loredo Pykefall [PC]:
    Age: 49
When it comes to Loredo Pykefall first impressions are often less than flattering. He is an aging, bald and fat man with crass manners and vulgar habits. However the future Lord of Casterly Rock is no fool. His mind is sharp and although his off putting ways land him few friends, he has proven on countless occasions to be an invaluable ally and devastatingly adversary.

    Ser Alton Pykefall [Deceased]:
    Age: 23
Also known as the "White Knight of Kayce", Alton Pykefall was a paragon of chivalry and the apple of his father's eye despite being the polar opposite of the man. Although the details of the scandal are vague at best, Alton was murdered by members of House Reyne during one his frequent visits to Casterly Rock. The reason for such an act is unknown, however rumours of secret romances and betrayals surround the mysterious act. Although intriguing, whatever the motives were behind the murder matter little now. Without a second thought, Loredo immediately set about avenging his only son born of legitimacy by raising his legions and declaring war on House Reyne.

    Lady Lyra Pykefall [NPC]:
    Age: 17
Lyra Pykefall is a poor soul blessed with the most unfortunate luck. Her record of misfortune began with her mother's death during Lyra's complicated birth. Then at age of just four the young girl contracted the deadly disease known as Grey Scale. Although the illness did not kill her, she was heavily disfigured with affliction’s signature grey scarring. This scarring is now prominent across the left side of her face and a large portion of her body. Convinced that she was now useless as tool to further the House and his own ambitions, Loredo became distant with his daughter. However in perhaps her first stroke of luck, she has recently managed to find companionship with her numerous half-brothers that now fill her father's court.

    The Bastards

Lord and commoner alike joke that there is one resource that Loredo Pykefall is never in short supply of. It is not gold or silver or fine warriors, though he does possess all these things. No, the one thing that Loredo has more of than any other in Westeros is bastards. From his constant whoring mongering, unrestrained pillaging and abuse of the banned tradition of the first night the notorious lord has managed to father countless illegitimate children. The majority of these bastard offspring are treated with cold indifference, however when Loredo raised his legions and declared war on House Reyne he found himself short of men he could trust. In a rather unconventional move he offered power, prestige and even legitimisation to dozens of his bastard sons if they would rally to his cause. So numerous are these bastards that they even comprise of the majority of Loredo’s own Honour Guard. Such men include the sinister twins, Sev and Fenn Hill, and the monstrous brute Amory Storm, a man strong as ox and just about as smart as one too.

    The Legitimised Bastards

Ser Dorn Pykefall (Formerly Dorn Hill) [PC]:
    Age: 31

As large imposing man with thick dusty blonde hair, Dorn couldn't look less like his father if he tried. He was born the bastard children of insignificant blacksmith's daughter and a lord that at first could not have cared less for him. However, Dorn was a man with unparallel determination and an iron resolve. He spent the years prior to his legitimisation as a grizzled hedge knight, fighting for coin like common mercenary. However, after the death of Loredo's beloved son Dorn humbly joined his father in his struggle against House Reyne. Although he could never replace Alton in Loredo's eyes, Dorn's skill in warfare and his presence as leader impressed the pragmatic Loredo enough for him to name Dorn his heir until either he or Lyra sired a legitimate male heir to House Pykefall.

Ser Roche Pykefall (Formerly Roche Pyke) [PC]:
    Age: 28

Being a bastard with a mother who was an Ironborn raider and being raised on the mainland with such heritage meant that for most of his life Roche Pyke was an outcast. Embittered by the experience of his formative years, Roche fled to the sea. There he lived for most of his life, changing professions between that of a pirate, a smuggler and a legitimate businessman. Having despised his father for most of his life, Roche was initially tempted to decline Loredo's offer to join him in the Pykefall rebellion. However, his steadfast friendship with his half-brother, Dorn, convinced him otherwise. Putting his skills as a competent mariner to good use, Roche was placed in command of the Pykefall's navy. Currently the navy is blockading the Reyne's fleet at Lannisport, with the hopes that the conflict can be resolved before the two fleets do battle.

Ser Ardel Pykefall (Formerly Ardel Hill) [NPC]:
    Age: 28

Although he is an average soldier at best, Ardel managed to earn his legitimisation from Loredo after he captured the castle at Deep Den with only a dozen men. Admittedly the victory was largely result of the ingenuity of the hedge knights and the incompetence of the garrison and not Ardel. Never the less, Ardel still proved useful to Loredo as a generally competent strategist and administer. Not to mention that at least on the surface he appears to be a rather loyal subject. Ardel lives in the constant shadow of his two older brothers, Dorn and Roche, whom he desires more than anything to earn the respect of. Some say that Lannister blood runs through Ardel's veins, however the claim is rather unlikely and impossible to prove.

Ser Letho Pykefall (Formerly Letho Hill) [NPC]:
    Age: 28

Letho appears similar to his biological father, just much more thinner, younger and with more hair. Prior to the Pykefall rebellion, Letho was an extremely successful merchant. When his father declared war on the Reynes, Letho seized the opportunity to essentially buy his legitimisation by offering significant financial aid to his father. Although in Loredo's court Letho is no better than a glorified diplomat and administer, the young man holds a rather high and one sided opinion of himself. He is loyal, but insufferable in conversation.

    Spoiler: History
    Show
House Pykefall is an old house, dating back from when the Lannisters still ruled the region. The house was established when a travelling hedge knight by name of Rodric Storm, joined the then Lannister ruler to repel a force of Ironborn raiders that had been terrorising the coastline. In a bloody battle outside Kayce, the hedge knight displayed unparalleled gallantry upon the field of combat, saving the life of the wounded Lannister lord and driving the invaders back into the sea. In recognition of his awe-inspiring heroics, the wandering stormlander was knighted and given lordship over the town of Kayce. Tossing aside his bastard last name of "Storm", Rodric adopted the last name of "Pykefall" in spite of the Ironborn he had vanquished. For generations House Pykefall endured as prestigious, if not a bit monotonous, bloodline. It was not until Loredo's grandfather, Beygar Pykefall, took over the House that the potential of the Pykefalls began to be truly recognised. In the space of just one lifetime, Beygar had managed to increase his family's holdings tenfold by securing alliances, raising troops, opening mines and establishing trade connections.

When it finally came time for Loredo to take the reins of House Pykefall he found himself in control of quite an established holding, a holding which to his credit he maintained reasonably well. For a time it seemed that the Pykefalls would once again enter a dormant era, content under their Reyne liege lords. That was until news came to Loredo that his only legitimate son, the apple of his eye, had been murdered during his stay with the Reynes at Casterly Rock. Motive or reason did not matter to the grieving father. With complete disregard to any consequences, he swore vengeance on all of House Reyne, promising to burn it to the ground. Then in the most incovienient twist of fate, the Reynes received word of their leader Godric Reyne's untimely death at King Landing. With the entire region in disarray, Pykefall's legions managed to march uncheck to Castery Rock, whilst their navy current blockades Lannisport. Here at these two locations the majority of the Pykefall and Reyne forces are standing off, waiting for the fateful orders that would send hundreds to their deaths.

Tucked in the depths of a dense, dark forest in the Fingers called the Mistwood sits House Malwood, cousins of House Graugeld. Strong and wealthy for a minor house, they are a linchpin for the defense of the Vale and also responsible for much of the fine lumber and other goods that are otherwise absent in many parts of their mountainous home. Curiously, they field very few knights or foot soldiers. The terrain of the Vale does not favor large armies, and so House Malwood does not possess one. Rather, their forces are mainly comprised of skirmishers and hedge knights, with the occasional true knight. They fight a highly mobile form of warfare, harrying larger forces and fading away into the inhospitable terrain of the mountains rather than standing to fight. Much scorn has been heaped on them because of this, though largely at the hands of foes who were vanquished at hundreds of yards. All of their forces are adept bowmen, and their scouts are amongst the best in the Seven Kingdoms.

Their origins are something of a sore point for them. In days gone by, the Malwoods were merely the most powerful and wealthy clan of mountain dwellers. Savages, to use a blunt word. Only three generations ago, they were living in the depths of the forest, hunting and warring with other clans. It was only when House Graugeld tried to harvest the rich and plentiful woods from their clan holds did they realize the wealth they were sitting on. The Graugelds, in turn, learned that the Malwood clan was absolutely not to be trifled with. Three separate times did they attempt to oust them from the misty trees and three separate times were their forces cut down before they could reach the forests. Then the Graugeld's tried a different tactic; they could not defeat them, so they parlayed. Eventually a mutually beneficial arrangement was made, and the clan and the noble house were joined together as one of the Graugeld women was wed to a Malwood chieftan's son. And she brought a princely gift with her; a Valyrian steel longsword. Thus, the house was created and it immediately became one of the Graugelds staunchest allies. Today, they live in homes and their lord, Hugon, resides in the halls of Mistwood Keep. All is not well though. Their cousins and king are slain by treachery, and now Hugon is left with the monumental task of taking their place in the Vale.

    "Tread Carefully"
The Mistwood is a treacherous place. Trees with dark wood cluster closely together, hiding cliffs and ravines, and their roots grip the always wet rocks with the strength of ages, threatening to trip up the unwary. A near omnipresent fog throughout the whole forest makes navigating tricky, even for natives. In this place, you watch where you walk or the worst can happen. The Malwoods, having sprung from savage origins, know these things better than most, and they keep to their words in all things.

Mikoll Darkeye, Master of Hunters, aged 24 years. (Ranger 4)
Maester Abrya, aged 57 years. (Expert 3)

Hugon Malwood is quite, thoughtful individual who follows the words of his House closely, and many would mark him as a dour, brooding man weighed down by the cares of leading a noble house in these times of trouble. This was not always true, but as of late Hugon has had much to worry about. A man once quick to laughter, he seldom smiles these days, and his already quiet nature has intensified. Always careful, he now ponders his course of action with such intensity that sometime it leaves him unable to act. His good days outnumber his bad though, due in large part to the counsel he keeps.

Lady Corenna is high in her husband’s counsel. A raven hair beauty, even after three children, she does her best to brighten his attitude, or failing that, shout him into motivation. Lately, their once seldom arguments have increased in frequency and volume. Hugon loves and respects his wife, and she knows this, whatever words he may say in the heat of an argument. They are nearly complete opposites; Corenna favors the elite, Hugon prefers the smallfolk. Hugon ponders, Corenna acts. Hugon is cautious, Corenna decisive. Both favor subtlety over direct action, though when the time for action comes they commit themselves fully. The complete each other well.

Maester Abrya is the other half of Hugon’s council. Age has made him wise and as tough as an oak root, and his mind is sharper than a razor. He forged his chain while Hugon was still a boy, and has served the House more than half his life. There are very few subjects that Abrya is not knowledgeable of, as his chain will attest to, though his specialties are somewhat paradoxically alchemy and finances. His salves, poultices and elixers are a boon to the health of the house, and his understanding of numbers helps keep the coffers full. He is also responsible for the studies of Hugon and Corenna’s children.

Ser Bernard Greencloak is the bastard brother of Lady Corenna, and the Master of Arms for House Malwood. Not one for nepotism, Lady Corenna insisted on putting her younger brother through a grueling series of tests to ensure he was the right choice. He passed, though it was a near thing to hear the Lady tell of it. Being constantly under the scrutiny of his Lord *and* his sister has made Bernard deadly serious about his work, and his work is war. A fierce ascetic, even for a knight, he rises at dawn, rests at dusk and handles the training of the House’s troops, as well as honing his own skills. It is a rare thing to not see him in the training ring on a given day.

Mikoll Darkeye is somewhat of a mystery, even to Hugon. He comes from a clan of nomads that dwell in the dense forest south of House Malwood’s seat of power. The clan itself has a special relationship with the House, and practices something they call ‘The Tithe’. Once a year, a small, carefully selected group of their best hunters, trackers and marksman are ‘gifted’ to Hugon. They have refused to explain this arrangement, only saying that it is what Hugon is owed as head of the House. They are excellent scouts and have an uncanny knack for staying unseen in their beloved forests. Mikoll is a cut above the rest.

Roric Malwood is the oldest son of Hugon and Corenna, and is much loved by the smallfolk, to the chagrin of his mother. Nobles and politics bore him, preferring the company of the common rabble to courtiers and sycophants. A rugged young man in the prime of his life, he has something of a reputation with the womenfolk of House Malwood’s holdings, again, much to his mother’s annoyance. He leads the House’s scouts and has become frightfully adept with a bow. He and Mikoll are nearly always at the practice range, trying to outdo each other, though Roric has yet to beat the clansman.

Elayne and Elise Malwood are the youngest children of Hugon and Corenna, and are the beloved young maidens of the entire castle. The dark haired identical twins are strikingly beautiful, even at their young age, and ravens constantly bring invitations for the young sisters to visit potential suitors, or vice versa. Their father is fiercely protective of them, and more than one rumor exists of him turning away a potential husband with a precise shot from an arrow. The two are consummate troublemakers, a habit they have acquired from their elder brother, and the mother takes great pains to ensure they act as proper ladies.

Need to stat Hugon. Also, I need to spend the ridiculous amount of gold on stuff. If I take the place of Graugelds, does that mean I take their armies as well?

Lord Commander of the Night's Watch Donnval Tommery

Donnval Tommery was practically born to serve the Watch. From the youngest age, Tommery expressed a logical train of thought and seemed quite forward-thinking in his actions. A lad of substance; who might have achieved something more in life had he not been born to the swamp-dwelling Crannogmen of the Neck. Alas, not everyone is so blessed with a house and hold, for he has no claim to either. That being said, life finds substance in all bodies, however it may come about—for Donnval did indeed find his purpose.

Some might remark that he possessed a crooked mind. They would not be far off the mark, truly, though the thoughts which stirred amidst his head have always had a decidedly less malicious notion about them than might be suggested by such comments. In fact, what occupies the interest, or perhaps even the forefront, of Donnval’s very semblence is indeed the concept of Justice.

Justice and retribution—punishment for crimes both committed and intended. In his youth, as a so-called degenerate from the deepest mires, he was privy to two alternate worlds: the former, or innocence and the latter of innocence-lost. As he grew, he witnessed wars and rebellion, destruction and outrage, and ultimately his family’s death at the hands of raiders from the Blacktyde’s Iron Isles. Passing between horrors unimaginable committed by the hands of humanity’s very base, a spoke broke within Donnval’s mind. At the then hardened age of seventeen, he left the Neck and traveled from one world to the next, and sought to seek his own ends.

How might one single man mete out Justice? And against an Earth that cares little to none for the troubles of those weaker than themselves? Donnval found a calling, and an answer, from hearing of the King’s Justice. The concept had the boy alight with fervor, and he decided he would carry it himself. Over the course of three years he travelled across Westeros, hunting for food and fighting for survival. A boy already honed by hardship became an iron-wrought man, or mayhaps a murderer. Highwaymen, raiders, barbarians, hill-folk; wherever he could find a means to satisfy his bloodlust for punishment, Donnval fought with first with his peoples' bronze spear and later an iron sword.

Those smallfolk who came across the wayward wanderer might likely be frightened by his appearance: bull-necked and thick-headed, with a wide bent mouth. At some point he lost an ear, and piece of his shoulder from a single blow—but all who saw him would remark a fierce determination to live on in those piercing eyes. Not terribly tall, nor was he the strongest or mightiest of any self-taught warrior, Donnval survived by perseverance and a quick-parry.

After a fashion he found himself employment as Bailiff and Judge to a minor Lord of the Vale who was suffering from a lack of strong hands. It was during this time that Donnval earned two blessings: his name and his scent. Known by the calling “Old Judge Tom,” he garnered for himself a notable renown for giving the harshest possible sentence to those he deemed the worst of criminals—and yet a fair, and even gentle, castigation of the weak who acted from survival. A thief who stole bread for his family might find himself returning home unscathed with a basket of grain and oil in tow, whereas street thugs or extortionists where beaten and locked in stocks—even executed when possible.

The other, moreover remarkable blessing Donnval found, was an unerring scent. At some point, he surmised, his nose must have been broken once more, but in just the right fashion to increase his olfactory capabilities immensely—to that of a dog’s or even better. The Bailiff turned to Bounty-Hunting, tracking wanted men across the countries themselves. For a time, the Judge seemed to have found satisfaction and purpose...

It certainly isn't perfect, so I'll probably have to come back and edit for grammar as well as the story itself, but it's mostly there.

    Secrets Held, Promises Kept

    Main House

PC Dagon Saltcliffe - 40 (Head of the Saltcliffe family)
    Spoiler
    Show
Dagon is the dour head of House Saltcliffe. He is shrewd, deadly, and a skilled leader. He is also a humourless old salt. He heeds the words of his house, and plays things very close to the vest. While he is a proud Ironborn man, it's clear that he doesn't believe in "paying the iron price" for everything, and knows that blood relations and coin can purchase far more. He still pays lip-service to the ideal, though less so in the past 10 years. He strives to lead the Iron Islands to a place of greater power and prosperity in the 7 Kingdoms.

Semi-obscure information about Dagon (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • He is, at best, a casual follower of the Drowned God.
    • Dagon has always coveted the Flint Cliffs peninsula and its rich forests. He long sought any excuse to seize the land from the Starks.
    • He holds the ideals of chivalry almost in contempt, and as such has been challenged to a few duels in his time. To date he has killed every opponent save for one, Harold Martell. It happened about 20 years ago, at King's Landing. The duel concluded with Dagon suffering a scar from Harold's blade. In exchange, Harold lost an eye. At the time, Theron Blacktyde stepped in as a "neutral" party and declared the duel to be a draw, much to Dagon's dismay. It's clear that there was no love lost between the three men, and it's likely that some of them still harbor some resentment towards the others.

    Description:

Dagon is a tall man, standing 6' 6". His graying hair usually hangs long but well kept, and his gray eyes are hard. He has a duelling scar down the left side of his weathered face, a memento from a hated opponent. Unlike many ironborn, he wears a number of pieces of jewelry, having paid the iron price for every one of them in a duel.

PC Anarys Saltcliffe - 37 (Dagon's wife, Head Diplomat of House Saltcliffe)
    Spoiler
    Show
Anarys is a proper noblewoman from the Greyjoy family, but is not shy about using her looks and her station to her advantage in negotiations. She has devoted her life to her family, and has used her talents to ensure their prosperity and growth. She is the primary diplomat for the Iron Islands, and has garnered quite the reputation for being a shrewd negotiator who always gets her way in trade and politics. Her cutthroat manner at the negotiation table has left more than one diplomat agreeing to a trade deal that was more generous to House Saltcliffe than it should have been. Her demeanor in such meetings has jokingly earned her the nickname, "The Red Diplomat".

She is almost always cheerful, warm, and overly accomodating.

Semi-obscure information about Anarys (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • She is a devout follower of the Drowned God.
    • Rumor has it that she is the one who is truly in charge of House Saltcliffe. Rumor also has it that she's a powerful sorceress who enchants her opponents in trade deals.
    • She is quite protective of her two children, Balon and Rhaenys.

Anarys is of average height, 5'8". She keeps her black hair shoulder length, and often braids small strands of silver chain into it. She smiles often, and her deep blue eyes twinkle when she does. Anarys is a true beauty, and appears to be out of place on the Iron Islands. She keeps her clothing up to date and fashionable with what is currently being worn in King's Landing, despite her few opportunities to be at court.

PC Erik Saltcliffe, The Thrice-Blessed Priest of the Drowned God - 36 (Dagon's Brother)
    Spoiler
    Show
Erik is considered very odd - he speaks to the ocean often, and tends to gaze at nothing for extended periods of time, or cackle madly to himself. He was accepted into the priesthood at a young age, and excelled in his service and devotion. He nearly drowned about 8 years ago, but was revived. He promptly vanished after that, but resurfaced after the death of Fellion Blacktyde. Erik has become an outspoken member of the church of the Drowned God. He seems to truly be committed to his faith.

Semi-obscure information about Erik (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • His title refers to the fact that he has drowned and been revived three times. Rumor has it that Fellion Blacktyde is the one who drowned him the last time.
    • Rumor has it that the Drowned God heeds Erik's call, and that he can command the sea to drag his foes into the depths.
    • He has spoken often of his hope and desire to extend the worship of the Drowned God to all of Westeros, possibly by force.

    Description:
    Spoiler
    Show
Physically Erik is unremarkable, average height (5'10"), short brown hair, and a quiet demeanor. He wears the traditional green and grey robes of the Drowned Men, and carries a simple driftwood staff. The only feature that stands out are his eyes. After his last "rebirth", they clouded over to a milky white. He claims he can still see perfectly, and the change does not appear to have hindered him in any way.

NPC Balon Saltcliffe - 20 (Son of Dagon and Anarys, Admiral of the Northern Fleet, Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet)
    Spoiler
    Show
Balon is Dagon's firstborn son, and heir to the Iron Islands. He has inherited his mother's good looks, and is generally a pleasant individual. He strives to ensure his men are happy, and in so doing has earned their friendship as well as their respect. He is a natural leader, like his father, but the resemblance stops there. Where Dagon is harsh and unforgiving, Balon is merciful and understanding. Where Dagon is humourless and abrasive, Balon is joyful and diplomatic. Balon is a skilled swordsman and sailor, and loves nothing more than to be out on the sea. He loves his family, and would fight to protect any of them. He doesn't generally agree with many of the things his father does, but is not openly antagonistic. Balon strives to see the best in people, and treats others respectfully.

Semi-obscure information about Balon (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • Rumor has it that he uses squid ink to dye his hair black.
    • Rumor has it that because he does not act much like a proper Ironborn, he is not very well respected beyond the men under his immediate command.
    • Rumor has it that he believes that the Ironborn saying of "paying the iron price" is an outdated concept, and instead seems to put stock in the ideals of chivalry, which would put him at odds with his father.

    Description:
    Spoiler
    Show
Balon is a tall man, 6'2", like his father. However, he appears to have inherited his mother's good looks. His piercing blue eyes are often highlighted by a grin, and he keeps his black hair short. His skin has clearly seen years at sea, but he still retains a youthful appearance.

NPC Eron Saltcliffe - 23 (Edrik's Son, Admiral of the Southern Fleet)
    Spoiler
    Show
Eron is Dagon's nephew, and is an Ironborn man through and through. He is a devout follower of the Drowned God, and holds to the Ironborn ideals. Unfortunately, due to a head injury he received during some intense fighting with Blacktyde troops, he is also painfully dim-witted. He was appointed to the admiralty by Dagon as a favor to his older brother Edrik, but Dagon has made sure to place a number of tactically gifted officers to aid Eron in an effort to make him less of a liability. Eron's ability to lead men is questionable, but he is a decent fighter, and his advisers have been able to handle him thus far.

Semi-obscure information about Eron (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • His men follow him out of respect for the man he used to be, but that respect only goes so far.
    • Rumor has it that, due to an agreement with between Edrik and Dagon, Eron was initially first in line to inherit the Iron Islands, but due to his injury that is no longer the case.
    • Rumor has it that no one saw a foe strike Eron on the head. This has led to wild speculation that his injury may have been a plot to alter the power structure in House Saltcliffe.

    Description:
    Spoiler
    Show
Eron, like his father and his uncle, is a tall man, 6'4" and powerfully built. He keeps his black hair long to hide the nasty scar along the side of his scalp where he was injured so long ago. His grey eyes often show pain and loss, as it is clear he can remember at least some of what he used to be capable of.

NPC Rhaenys Saltcliffe - 18 (Daughter of Dagon and Anarys, Lady of the Ravens)
    Spoiler
    Show
Rhaenys is Dagon's daughter. She looks much like her mother, and Anarys has seen fit to make sure Rhaenys has a similar upbringing to her own. She was recently entrusted with the official title of Lady of the Ravens. Rhaenys has a keen intellect, and will some day make a fine diplomat.

Semi-obscure information about Rhaenys (written from the in-game perspective, so take these things with a grain of salt):
    Spoiler
    Show
    • Rumor has it that she is currently enamored with Lord Darrin Mountry, who is currently stationed in Highgarden. She has yet to work up the courage to ask her mother about a possible marriage. Rhaenys and Darrin Mountry are engaged to be wed.
    • Rumor is that she absolutely loathes her uncle Erik for reasons that aren't clear.
    • Rumor has it that Rhaenys would much prefer life on the mainland, rather than the isles.

    Description:
    Spoiler
    Show
Rhaenys look very much like her mother, with the same deep blue eyes and long black hair. She stands 5'8", and carries herself with poise and grace. She favors fashions and colors that are worn by the ladies of Highgarden, and is often the only bright spot of color in the otherwise grey and black clad inhabitants of Pyke.

    Elaena Greyjoy (Anarys' Mother, 72)
Edrik Saltcliffe (Brother of Dagon - Crippled(one leg), 46)

Donnor Saltcliffe (Brother of Dagon, 33)
Lynne Sunderly (now Saltcliffe) (Donnor's Wife, 28)
    - Myrielle Saltcliff (Donnor's Daughter (Markus' Twin), 10)
    - Markus Saltcliffe (Donnor's Son (Myrielle's Twin), 10)

    Background:
House Saltcliffe has a checkered past with the Blacktydes. They have never gotten along well, each seeking to reach position over the other. Dagon has an intense animosity towards Theron, after Theron humiliated him during a duel at King's Landing. When the Blacktydes made their bid to overthrow the Greyjoys, it would seem natural that Dagon would have sided with the Greyjoys. However, he made a tentative peace with Theron, and publicly supported him. Even so, despite taking up lordship of the Iron Islands, Theron has always been plagued by rumors and negative public opinion.

Only two weeks prior to the assassination of the king, Fellion Blacktyde was found drowned, locked in his room. The priesthood of the Drowned God took this as an omen that their God was angry that the Blacktydes seized the throne under false pretenses, which caused rioting and chaos among the populace. One week after that, several members of House Blacktyde (including Theron's sons) were found, drowned despite being no where near the sea.

A quick gathering of the nobles of the Iron Islands was convened, and most agreed that House Saltcliffe was in the best position to bring peace. Dagon and House Saltcliffe claimed the islands in order to fill the power void and quiet the populace. They currently have the backing of the more militant part of the priesthood of the Drowned God, itself in disarray due to the sudden death of its High Priest. Publicly, House Saltcliffe has taken Greta Blacktyde, Brais Pyke, and the minor members of House Blacktyde into it's protection in the hopes that the Drowned God will be satisfied with those members of House Blacktyde who have already perished. The surviving members of House Blacktyde are well guarded, and not allowed to leave the keep on Pyke, "for their own safety".

Despite pockets of resistance to the new rule of House Saltcliffe, the islands are settling back into an uneasy peace. In the meantime Dagon and Anarys have departed quickly for King's Landing. News of the new order has yet to reach King's Landing, and they plan to announce themselves as the new rulers of the Iron Islands in person.

    Recent News:
    • Lady Rhaenys Saltcliffe and Lord Darrin Mountry are engaged to be wed in 3 months time.
    • Lady Greta Blacktyde and Lord Endar Mountry are engaged to be wed in 3 months time.

    Resources:

The Iron Islands are not blessed with an abundance of resources (save for one), but they make the most of what they have. They have sparse forests on the islands which supply them with wood for ships, iron ore (which almost exclusively goes into the creation of weaponry), and even some silver. The one thing they have an abundance of is food. Fishing provides the bulk of foodstuffs on the Iron Islands, supplemented by some farming. The sea also provides some of the more rare and exotic seafoods served in Westeros. Their shipwrights are highly sought after, and are master craftsmen.

The Iron Islands have the following resources:
    Silver
    Iron
    Lumber
    Foodstock
Foodstock(Rare) (consists of unusual seafood and some luxury goods like pearls, abalone, and various sea creature venoms and body parts used for medicines)
    Ships

In general, the Iron Islands look to import the following resources:
    Stone (Marble)
    Stone (Granite)
    Lumber
    Lumber (Rare)

In the Mountry's clan it is a custom, that it is woman's job to take care of politics and running a country, while men should take care of military and war.
About 50 years ago, Chieftain Ria noticed, how house Tyrell is beginning to decay. She has decided it is time for her clan to take care of their nation into their own hands. They began rebellion in order to dethrone Tyrells
Badly managed and mostly untrained regular soldiers, who still remained loyal to the Tyrells were quickly dispatched, ending the civil war in the rebellion's victory.
Shortly afterwards clan leaders took control of the land, taking Bear as their sigil and "Wisdom gives us Strength" as their words.
They were threated with mistrust, as they were not accustomed to nobles' customs, but their children, Maya and Darina were taught by the best maesters. Bern died, while he was still an infant.
After Ria's and Melial's deaths Lady Maya ruled the country for over two dozens years.
Ruat married Marris Ray, sealing a pact with the Rays family.
She died shortly after delivering her final child to an unexpected and unexplainable disease.
Within the last year Dranton, Lady Maya, Darina and Daar were all killed by assasins from faction willing to avenge Tyrells deaths.

So House Targaryen looks like this:

    Maekar I (51, M)---- Aelinor (34,F)
    |
    Daeron(35, M) Aerion(33, M), Aemon(27, M), Rhae(23, F), and Daella(19, F)

King Maekar I, he took the throne after his brother died in his sleep, he took his brothers wife, who was still a maiden and his sister as his own wife, she gave him 5 children. He is a strong no nonsense man.

Queen Aelinor is the jewel of the Realm, she is widely considered the most beautiful woman in the realm, and she is nice to boot.

Daeron is a drunkard, spends most his time whoring and drinking, however he is still a knight, and when he was younger proved it on the battlefield, he is a drunkard, but he is a capable warrior.

Aerion is a monster in human form, he believes he is a Dragon in human shape, and acts accordingly, rumors have it he eats babes, cats, and the flesh of whores, he is justifiable insane, but he is predictable. He is as handsome as they come, with violet eyes.

Aemon is a strong willed but meak brother, strong of mind, weak of arm he is the kitten in the pup of dragons.

Rhae is a strong woman, still a maid, she has eyes for Aemon, but her Father has told her she will marry Daeron, who she hates with a passion, especially for his whoring, she is a devout woman of the Mother and prays fervently.

Daella is not a maid, to her fathers Chagrin, she is a strong woman and is not afraid to fight her brothers or other men. She is an apt learner, and has been known to sneak a few poisons from the Maester for her own use, recreational and other uses.

Maester Brand was of House Arryn, after a scandal that involved a married woman to a lesser lord and the threat of taking the black, he took the chain of the Maester instead, he is 64 years old, and a wise old man, King Maekar finds him a trustworthy companion and advisor.

    Woah!

I just took off the inactive players, the Starks, Greyjoys, and Arynns are the only ones in the playing field, I haven't bothered to look south yet.

And it's not like we at war...yet.

Alos, are we wanting to bring in freshmeat?

I agree on those points. At present I'm double checking with will (arynns) to double check that he's dropping, but fresh meat sounds like a good plan. As I see it the nations are meant to be PC, and external forces NPC, shift in the balance seems unnecessary.
