    Default Ice Based Monsters

In the campaign im running, the goal of the enemy is to cover the world in ice. Right now, i need monsters with CRs between 1 and 6. The ones i have already used are: Winter Wolves, Frost Giants, Ice Mephits, Polar Bear and a Spider from Frostburn.

What else do you recomend me?

    Cryohydra (5 headed)
    Orca (if near water)
    White Dragon (Juvenile or younger)

    Brown bear
    Dire Wolverine...

    Edit:
Silver Dragon (Very Young or younger)
    Ettin
    Shark (if cold)
    Trolls

    Edit2:
Or apply the 'Cold Elemental Creature' template from the Manual of the Planes page 195. CR +1

There are Ice Paraelementals in the Manual of the Planes, and I assume the Planar Handbook.

Well, a frost giant is CR 9, unless it's nerfed a whole lot it's definitely overpowered for anyone who would normally take on the 1-6 range.

Well, a 6 headed cryohydra is CR 6, and extremely young silver and slightly older white dragons range from CR 2 to 6.

Also, a 1/2 dragon silver or white dragon is a good substitute for a 'icy' template, just explain the creature's natural armor comes from frost coating, maybe don't change the type to dragon and give the bite and claw attacks from ice shards and spikes.

Actually, the Frost Giant is CR 9. But this one was hurt and they had two NPCs helping them.

If you use any of the stuff from Manual of the Planes, be sure to download the 3.5 update manual.

An <Arcane Spellcaster> 5/Elemental Savant (Water) 1 of any race that does not add CR to normal PC-class-levels would be a good cold-based creature. Elemental Savant is in Complete Arcane (a 3.0 version is in Tome and Blood).

In what book are the rules for the Yeti written? I was kind of looking forward to creating them myself, based on the concept of a polar troll, but if WotC already has rules for them, I may at least take a look.

Go to Holly Jolly and Fimbulwinter threads. Stay away from Cyrocerebellus, though. It's too powerful for your own good.

http://www.d20srd.org/filters/monster.php Putting max CR 6 and either climate:cold or subtype:cold might help you somewhat. :/

Skeletons, zombies and ghouls, with their cold immunity, are easy to work in as mooks and ambushes for low-level characters. Imagine the snowbank you're trudging through abruptly rearing up and revealing itself as a couple zombie bears/people/as required.

Ditto the arctic variant races in the SRD. Hordes of arctic kobolds building tunnels and pits under the snow and ice, waiting for the PC's to fall through...

What CR was the Bleakborn from Libris Mortis? It was an undead who died of extreme cold and raised again.

add the cold subtype to any creature you want. immune to cold double damage from fire. add d6 cold damage if you're feeling evil
mummies in the cold are nastier, they look like zombies and their alchemical smell would be dimmed somewhat, no warnings for the pc's until they get thumped!
