    Welcome!

    Go ahead and post your character sheets in your first post here, and we'll stay away from the Interest Check from here out. Feel free to post in the IC as well and I'll have the meeting with Dynamo happen soon enough.

    Personality: He is very brash and intense but he does show the want to help other toys against the oppression of the overlord. He is generally kind to his friends in normal settings, but in times of stress and battle he becomes a seemingly different toy and is very calculated and tactical. He has an inflated ego about being a collector's item and he brags about being in such good condition on occasion.

    Description: He is brand new and still shiny, with no blemishes on his armor. All of his lights work and he has no missing parts. He is the rarity of the complete toy and he knows it.

    Establishing superiority over PCs is not a rolling thing, Vhael, as the players control their characters. I'm not sure if you can edit a roll out but I would just have Mikey ignore it. Now what you do when you meet and NPC like, say, Dynamo is up to you though...

    sorry, i guess i didnt phrase it quite the way i was thinking it should work. I was specifically trying to seem intimidating towards the character. and a roll just kinda puts a severity on to that action. he doesnt have to be scared out of his mind, its just to be like ok he rolled an 11 on intimidation so he isnt making a fool of himself and looking like an idiot while trying to do it, like if I had rolled a 3 or something. like i said i am sorry to cause confusion and if you would like me to remove the roll i can.

    ok, if you say its not needed, than i wont include a roll. you are the GM so im not gonna argue lol. i will still try to specify any actions that may not be apparent from the RPed part of the posts in a spoiler though. i just tend to give rolls to my actions just so that i cant make my character over powered by just simply saying that something happens. but this system doesnt seem to need that because it is a pretty simple system and seems to draw better off of just plain RP.

    "When a character attempts to accomplish a task that involves a level of uncertainty around whether or not he might accomplish the task, the GM should ask for an attribute roll." (page 12)

    So I'm going to take that to mean that unless I ask for a roll, none is required. If you wanted to have a PvP situation where Mikey tried to intimidate you back, he could roll his own and you could compare the results - but it would end up just mostly being to determine how to RP the event, not anything major. The rules are fairly lite when it comes to task resolution. And you're right about rolling in spoilers - always do that. No harm, no foul, a learning experience was had by all.

    Also...

    "Target Numbers can be one of three different levels: an Average task should be TN 7, a Difficult task should be TN 9, and a Very Difficult task should be TN 11." (page 12)

    ...you could just roll for yourself and set a goal before rolling. If you think it would be easy for your character to do something simple (not a GM-initiated/plot-critical event) then roll against a TN 7 and so on. You're in a dimly-lit, crowded elevator, staring down at a stranger - I would say you've probably succeeded, with a roll of 11, to make the impression you were shooting for... namely, a forceful bully. If you had failed at the roll somehow, maybe you would have edited back in how your voice cracked when you spoke or something. How Mikey responds, however, is entirely up to him and not dependent on a roll (unless he wants it to be). I'm pretty laid back about that sort of thing and, as I said originally, I'd much rather have fun with the RP than get bogged down in rolls.

    Personality: Warm and friendly, Mikey is a Man on a mission, although he doesn't quite no what it is yet, or how to complete it, but he knows he's on one, and to him that's all that matters.     Description: Standing in at an inch tall, he is one of the smallest toys up and about, he wears blue legs and an Orange workers vest, he once had a hat, but lost it. A cheery smile accompanies his light brown hair.

    Truth be told... neither was I. It just seemed somehow appropriate. At 7pm I sat down with this really great character for Dynamo and around 7:30 I wasn't really feelin' it. I Googled "stupid toys" just to see what I'd get, then thought of the rubber chicken. And thus was King Dynamo born!

    I may have alluded to this before, but my posting during the week may be rather slow. The only reason I was able to work on something tonight was that I have tomorrow off for family stuff.     definitely no issues on the multiple posts in a row, that rule generally doesn't matter/apply to GM's in my opinion lol.

    on a side note, Guy is definitely going to be getting in. he is adventurous and a risk taker. he was just confused by the concept of being able to fly in the balloon. all the talk between Walter and the doctor has him baffled as well and that coupled with the attempted insult from Frank has him basically speechless in an attempt to understand what everyone is talking about.

    oooOOoooh! O lovely twist by Mikey - suggestions for the Doctor?! Maybe now would be a good time for a quick rundown of how BW GM's:

    Basically, I don't know what's going to happen much. I like to have the players make their characters from a seed idea I have for the adventure, see what they come up with and how it inspires me to launch them, and then react to their reactions. And so on. Oh, I know what the lights are all about, don't worry - I just enjoy accommodating player choice as much as I can (it's where I have the most fun). As an example - I knew about King Dynamo but wasn't sure about making him a rubber chicken until I was writing the post, and I knew I'd want a character to serve as a sort of intro for that but didn't think of Melanie until I was writing, and I knew about the balloon but the Doctor is mostly a spur of the moment character as well. Not to diminish the importance of these characters mind you, I've just learned that some GMs plan things way out in advance with all sorts of detail. Not so with ol' BW. I have a rough idea and I'll get you there as creatively as possible with respect to your own choices. The vast majority of my experience RPGing is in this play-by-post format and I've learned a couple things that, for me, keep things going. First, I never expect to last longer than a month (I mentioned that in the Interest Check, I believe). It's just not fair for anyone. We re-assess at that point and such, but I hope to have this first "chapter" or adventure or whatever well wrapped up by Christmas. Secondly, I don't make character sheets for the NPCs. I don't plan them that way at all, I have roles that I need filled and I fill them in whatever fun style I'm feeling like. If I was to plan something out then I'd be upset when I lose Internet for a weekend and we get messed up with pacing, or if someone drops inexplicably. My very first GM experience turned out completely different from what I had originally intended and it was way cooler that way. I actually woke up with butterflies that morning to write my introductory post(s). The last thing I try to do is not take on big parties. It's not something I do well. Solo games are more my forte, though with Toypocalypse it's different (not a well-known genre, plenty of leeway for GM and Players alike in how things proceed (no real "points" or "feats" as much as "you're a toy... now go be a toy", and the general theme and mood of the setting allows for a good mix of serious and playful, mystery and suspense, etc.). I'm still learning.

    It all seems a bit counter-intuitive, I know, but it's how I end up with moments like:

    "BW, you said there was a skylight - can I jump up to it before the Stormtroopers get here?"
    "I don't know, I guess... but you should try running up the front of one of them and jumping off his head in some sort of Matrix/Resident Evil/Jedi move!"
    "...How?"
    "Hmm... Dexterity roll maybe? I dunno. But you should try it anyway."

    And so on. I keep waffling about including a Leader GMNPC to accompany you guys but we'll see how it goes. I'll start working on the post in a minute, courtesy of the DVD I rented being scratched and refusing to play the second half of my movie.
