    Yea, you could almost make the argument that The Giant effectively voted for inclusion of that quote

    Even if it's already in the Index, we should include "See also this".

    Yeah, I remember seeing a couple of those posts too, but I'm not seeing them in the Index. Maybe they weren't proposed for inclusion?

    Anyway, since it seemingly wasn't proposed, I'm suggesting this one over the most recent version. "Genocide is always evil, guys." would make for an excellent summary.

    I don't have an opinion on the Familicide quote, but this one should get indexed. The speculation that the planet within the Rift is Earth comes up every once in a while.

    I was actually thinking it may be more appropriate to add this under the Art section, since it's an insight into a technique he uses to draw the comic.

    But if we don't already have a quote where he says Earth is not the planet in the rift (I know there is one, I just can't seem to find it here. Is there not one in the Index?), then I definitely agree this one should be framed as such.

    Edit: Oh, it was in one of the books? Okay. Then yeah, we definitely need this quote.

    Completely agree. I wouldn't mind adding the more recent quote as an aside "see also..." as suggested by Loreweaver. Sure, there is a degree of redundancy with some of the stuff covered in the Alignment section. Still, it appears these threads about V somehow being within her rights always pop up from time to time. The motto of the Index is "nipping it in the bud". If something needs nipping, it is this kind of line of thought.

    Agree about including the "not Earth" comment, too.

    Yeah, I thought so too; but I sure couldn't find one.

    Anyway, if I'm right, these are the quotes still due for inclusion:
    {table=head]{colsp=3}
    Number Five: Thread's Alive

    [div]Elan is (Still) Chaotic Good[/div]Elan let Tarquin fall because he was using a different interpretation of Chaotic Good.|#936|01/11/2014

    [div]Earth isn't in the Rift[/div]"Earth will never show up."|#945|02/15/2014
    [/table]

    The Bandana/"hit the head" quote hit a lot of resistance; I'm listing it separately in case there's some reason to revisit it:
    {table=head]{colsp=3}
    Consolation(?) Prize(???)

    [div]Bandana Orders a Crewman Around in #943 to Break up Comic Monotony[/div]Also, "hit the head" means "use the restroom".|#943|02/05/2014

    I agree that this quote should be included also, largely because I was looking for it earlier and was disappointed to find it wasn't here. I don't think we actually have a quote addressing that genocide is bad, just a technical description of Familicide.

    The entire conversation in that thread is based around the description of Adobe Illustrator taken from the FAQ (aside from a tangent about vectors versus raster graphics and analog versus digital art that got a little out of hand ).

    The OotS related bit is that he used and was able to afford Illustrator for OotS because he already had it from his graphic design career.

    Which is sort of interesting, but it's too biographical to include, for my tastes. Biographically-oriented stuff is what I'd be most leery of indexing.

    There is no point to include it.

    While "morally justified" is prohibited, discussions about alignment and/or themes of the work (especially alignment) make up 50% of the board. This is relevant to both of those, so I'd say it can be a useful resource.

    While the thread that I wanted to use the quote in was eventually locked, none of the reasons for its locking were because it contained morally justified topics, and for the most part the conversation had been following the rules.

    The Adobe Illustrator quote doesn't need to be included. It doesn't match the thread guidelines. I don't think the bandana one does either, to be honest.

    I'll get to updating the index soon, hopefully.

    Usually I'm all for inclusion whenever the Giant clarifies anything... Though, the evidence that she's alive was already quite clear (Elan refers to her in the present tense, she appears in a cutaway).

    I suppose this tells us that she hasn't just died off-panel without Elan knowing about it.

    That's true, though playing devil's advocate, Belkar & Mr. Scruffy saw Shojo.

    Still, if Elan believed that his mom had died, we would have heard about it in-comic. (It's the kind of thing he'd go on about.)

    By way of comparison -- if the Giant said "Julia Greenhilt is not dead" or "Aarindarius is not dead," would that be index-worthy?

    I'm undecided.

    I suppose I can imagine a hypothetical scenario in which the index is overrun by listings of people's dead or alive status when it should be readily inferrable, but that doesn't seem too likely. Whoever wondered about Elan's mom likely had some reason for having thought there was a possibility of her being deceased. Getting the answer from the Giant was a way to be 100% positive of the answer. It's not unreasonable that someone else in the future might also wind up wanting the answer to that question in quick and totally unambiguous form.

    I remember I had to recollect whether something had happened to her after I read the Haleo and Julean story, where her absence is extremely conspicuous.

    Yeah, in my opinion, the best way to tell whether something is sufficiently obvious that everyone should know it is to see whether anybody is actually asking the question. Especially since, as a general rule, most people who are confused about something aren't going to ask The Giant about it, so for every person who up and asks about something most of us might think fairly obvious, there's probably an average of two, five, ten people out there who also didn't get it but didn't bother to ask directly.

    tl;dr: Generally, I think the best way to tell if something is obvious enough that we shouldn't include it is to see whether anyone is confused enough about it to ask for clarification. It's just too difficult for most of us to understand where a particularly confused reader might be coming from.
