    Default Mastermind, Pyro, or Psychic-Assassin?

In the campain I am in right now, I'm starting to play a psion with the telepath discipline. I know I want totake a prestige class, but I find myself caught between three choises: the Thrallherd, the Pyrokineticist, or Ebon Saint. The thrallherd is great because I get to embrace the manipulative powers of telepathy. A pyrokineticist also seems like it would be really fun to play as well, because of the flashy nature of it's power. Finally, the Ebon Saint seems like it might be a good choise because of it's infiltration capabilities. So what I'm looking for is any imput at all on any of the three PrCs, are any of them particulary fun to play, underpowered, etc. Post your thoughts here.

Hmmm. The Jaya Ballard fanboy part of me says Pyrokineticist. THe subtle devious little bugger within me says Thrallherd. I've never heard of Ebon Saint, so I can't help you there. They're both decent PrCs, if a bit specialised. Both of them have glaring weaknesses: Fire resistant enemies and immune to mind-affecting enemies respectively.

ah, but with thrallherd, if you run up against immune to mind-affecting enemies, you just have your thrall and band of devoted believers smash the tar out of them.

yeah. Whats this Ebon Saint though? When I read 'psychic assassin', I thought the OP meant the actual Psychic Assassin class from the WOTC site.

    My stats are:
    Str 12
    Dex 13
    Con 10
    Int 16
    Wis 8
    Cha 17
Oh, and the feats are pretty much all things which enhance my charisma-based skills... One of them is homebrew, made on this forum in fact.

The Ebon Saint is a PrC which uses dire augments, which enhance sneak attacks with psychic powers. They also get some bonuses to hide.

Well, take Thrallherd. Then you can take ranks in Perform (string instruments) and Perform (singing)... and be a rock star!

Ebon Saint was really made for the Lurk (both from CPsi), and I'm not sure you can use its main abilities as a telepath. You might also have to cross class as a lurk or rogue to quality ( I'm AFB). Both Thrallherd and Pyro have their advantages, but I'd go with Thrallherd if you (and your DM) don't mind keeping track of all the stats for your thralls. Pyro is nice, but lots of things have fire resistance and it some of the abilities are more melee based, which isn't the best idea with the d4 hit dice.

That is one of the most awesome ideas I have ever heard.
Wouldn't it also be useful to multiclass to Bard as well? That charisma from psion means instant win there.

'Tis a sad day for us all when that particular character concept is possible.

    We aim to please.

And Psion uses Int as the primary manifesting attribute. Wilder uses Cha.

Looking at it from a pure power persepctive, pyrois probably your weakest option. I'm not familiar with the ebon saint so I can't really comment. Beyond that all that matters is which one you want to play the most.

On yer feet an' face me! Ye may haf the upper hand in magic, but thar's na way a primary spellcaster like ye can survive in melee fer long if'n he hadn't prepared fer it!

Ah, right. Druid. Ne'er mind, then.
