I think my vote is to regroup and head left, really. We've checked out what we could for now but we're here to recover Sven first. We'll be able to explore later, but rivers and waterfalls are less likely to die while we delay. :P

Still, I'm no OOC party leader! Let's get a tiebreaking opinion. :P

Edit: Do we want an OOC party leader by any chance? I like handling things council style, but it does slow things down.

That's a good point! You can reply Hakka IC. Since he's a guy with a clutch-unity sense, he would likely agree to keep the party united.

It might be prudent simply for the sake of expediting things.

I shall let you guys talk about it a bit here before saying anything else on the matter though.

The thigh-deep water will affect DEN, but the depth 1 water will not (or at least, you can switch to your swim speed).

That'll work - only thing I'll note is that choppy ocean and river rapids and such will still be difficult for you to negotiate. But you won't sink!

I believe that that will get him a 1 square move, since he has a speed of 5 after the armor penalty and it rounds down to 2 and since it is difficult terrain it costs both to shift. Correct?

If you decided that you want to use it on someone else in light of this you are free to do so.

Let's try rolling Perception again, since it didn't take in IC:

The lightest blue does not count as difficult terrain. Might be a little hard to tell from the sidebar. I just put some notations on the map itself off to the side to help.

Oh, my fault. I had read about the terrain earlier, didn't double check. Not a huge deal though. I'd still be using a ranged attack rather than being the only one in melee since I have CA regardless. Only difference would've been 5 damage from Sly Flourish vs Deft Strike.

Mechanically speaking I would prefer not to reveal what traits and abilities enemies have, but some of them may come up and in fact alter combat significantly. Should I go ahead and tell you what some of them are to make things streamlined and just ask for minimal metagaming, or keep things on the down-low?

You can of course just look most things up in the compendium, but still.

I personally refuse to read monster books so that I don't know that kind of stuff, but it's up to you if it's too important. I like descriptive hints to the capabilities the most, but I'm not really good at them. For example if this hydra acts on multiple initiatives or has a lot of off-turn attacks, you might say that we notice the heads acting independently. If a creature has a lot of mind-affecting, maybe some of us can feel its mental presence. Then, to complement that, when important abilities do come up, lay out the mechanical effects very clearly (like you have been) as well.

Laserlight suggested I make it clear that it has moved while dazed, made multiple attacks while dazed, and made an off-turn free action attack while dazed. The astute reader will notice that the creature has four heads but only made three attacks.

The first two are clearly within its abilities. The third is a triggered free action, so I believe that it is able to use that ability while dazed. If not, please show me why and the damage will be rescinded.
