You're free to try, but bear in mind the house rules.

You might get a circumstance bonus or two, though...

A creature gain a +1 bonus to resist Intimidate checks to force surrender for each level they're above an Intimidating creature, and for each ally it is aware of (including the creature) that exceeds the total number of enemies it is aware of.

Why? Helps reduce the impact of Intimidate optimization abuse in a way that conforms to verisimilitude. Without such rules, Intimidate optimization can easily and instantly eliminate bloodied threats en masse, including Solos and Elites.

I'm going! I've been swamped with fun new work stuff and just finally have some time.

Also, I don't think I could do anything with intimidate now, since this guy is a solo and I only have a +20. Max I could roll is a 40, and I doubt Hydra is <20 Will

No, probably not, I'd forgotten that rule too. Still, I'm deeply of the suspicion that a lucky shot to the jewel might disrupt the control of something that might be making it hostile rather than territorial. That said, retreat is better than anyone getting eaten regardless. :P

I am thinking retreat and or regroup so that Sathris, Hakka and Draj can do ranged damage while DEN and Kriv melee. I also can do more heals if I am close to people.

Could work but once I run out of reliable tricks to get CA my ranged damage will drop pretty significantly. Though I suppose that's true in melee anyway since I can't flank. I imagine we're closer to bloodied than full.

I'm holding onto one more encounter daze attack (plus the zone blind) if you need it, but if I miss a slow, the hydras going to be able to make headway through the whirlpool.

I've got one turn more of my own at ranged, and can nearly guarantee two more if I slip back into melee. Past that there's only the Deft Strike gamble, which probably isn't the best option here.

I'm at 1d4 +7/8 (melee, ranged) BAs, 2d8+4 more with CA. Average 21/22. Definitely not the one you should pick if I don't have CA though.

Edit: Also +17 to attack, +20 with CA, +21 if CA from flanking

I think not yet. Hakka was the one closest to the shoe, but he was distracted by the bats. I think on his next turn Hakka will take a moment to inspect the shoe and the cave... Unless he's needed to daze the Hydra, which it's pretty likely to be the case.

As far as I know, this round was like:
    Hydra and Bats (attack)
    DEN (second wind)
    Hakka (attack bats)
    Sathris (attack hydra)
    Draj (howling wall)
    Kriv (direct the strike)

Then Hydra and the bats attacked/fled. So... Sorry to be nitpicky but, am I missing something?

yeah I thought it would be Sathris/Hakka next. edit: the "attack as free action" is messing me up though, I will admit.

I believe the initiative order is "Hakka Sathris", then "Hydra and bats", then "DEN Draj Kriv".

Somewhat confused by things like "Kriv gives DEN a free move action" and "Hydra gets free attacks on DEN and Sathris when they ended their turn adjacent to hydra".

Laserlight has it right, and yes it is.

It's a little wonky here since I just lumped everyone together after Sathris and Hakka went, but I've been keeping track in a spreadsheet. It's just getting interrupted now because the water is rising.

putting the kid to bed and then taking my turn. I'm still confused on timing, but my plan is to beat feet.

Question though - I am standing on top of the water (Floating shield) so the rising tide doesn't impact me, right?

    Make sense?

The tide does not cause difficult terrain for you at present, as you are standing on top and the incoming waves crest before they get to you. Think sloshing around in an inch of water at the beach.

It's not too bad. Well in some ways it's pretty awful, but it isn't me, it's my best friend, and how she handles things after today is all her unless she asks for my help. Propriety keeps me from explaining more, but my support for her shall definitely play a more passive role. She'd been staying with me for almost the full duration of the last two weeks (which was quite fun really) and kept me too busy except when she was asleep.
