Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
Pretty noble of Roy to help Durkon keep himself in check.
Also, just noticed: Durkon's magical aura has changed from brown to black. Is this significant?Last edited by RMS Oceanic; 2014-01-17 at 04:49 AM.

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
I don't think Roy is fully grasping the reality of 'his best friend has been violently murdered and replaced with an undead Evil mockery of life'. Future plot foreshadowing ahoy.

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
I never would have expected the Belkster to be the only one upset about Durkon being vamped, but then he is the only one who's been on the receiving end of those fangs (so far).

As civilized and reasonable as this is all looking so far, I do have to wonder what will happen once the subject of resurrecting him is floated past Durkon.

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
I would equate it more to him wearing a Helm of Alignment Change that also makes him need to drink blood. However it's still too early to judge; we need more interaction between Durkon and non-party members that aren't trying to kill them.
I know there's a theory going round that Durkon is putting on an act, but to what end? I don't think being vamped makes you an evil genius with a big plan. Just as Tarquin - at first, before the Nale incident - appeared to us as an Evil Elan, I think the core of his personality, namely duty and loyalty, will still be there. How he acts on this duty and loyalty may differ from this morning, however.Last edited by RMS Oceanic; 2014-01-17 at 05:01 AM.

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
So is Durkon still getting his spells from Thor or was it just a figure of speech he used out of habit?

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
Excellent continuation of the Belkar/Roy alignment role-reversal. I’m really looking forward to the payoff on this.
Also, it’s a great juxtaposition for Durkon/Durkula.In MY day, we didn't have character generation programs. We didn't even have character sheets to photocopy. We had to use ordinary lined paper. And we LIKED it!!

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
Heh. Love the abuse of the Restoration spell to provide free food for the party vampire. Reminds me of that regenerating Hydra burger bar.
The thing that I still wonder is how Durkon will cope with Sunlight. Presumably Malack spent ages researching that custom protection spell and there are only limited charges in that staff. That is assuming Durkon even knows automatically how to use it.

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
It's really interesting that Belkar seems to be the only one that understands that Durkon is dead. It makes sense, as Roy is in denial that his best friend died, and Belkar was the one shocked to see it in front of his eyes.

If Durkon survives from his adventures, perhaps he should consider a new career as the manager of the blood bank. Free orange juice and cookies to every blood donor!

It would be so darned immature of me to pick on Belkar right now.
But how could I possibly resist?
TAKE THAT, Belkar!

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
Amazing. It's Belkar who can't stand the fact Durkon is evil now.
Spoiler
So the song runs on, with shift and change,
Through the years that have no name,
And the late notes soar to a higher range,
But the theme is still the same.
Man's battle-cry and the guns' reply
Blend in with the old, old rhyme
That was traced in the score of the strata marks
While millenniums winked like campfire sparks
Down the winds of unguessed time. -- 4th Stanza, The Bad Lands, Badger Clark

Re: OOTS #939 - The Discussion Thread
If only Roy(and elan, I don't think Haley and Belkar would have as much issue) could throw away their morality on feeding on unwilling victims(since if they were all vamps, they'd have no-one to freely give them blood), it would give them a fairly significant powerup
, though I imagine Redcloak probably has dominate undead prepared daily, so wouldn't help much there ^^
