Default RING Virtual Tabletop v0.2.0.2 (Looking for Feedback)

Greetings! For the past couple of months, I've been working on a homebrewn RPG System. I eventually tired of drawing 2D maps on graph paper, so I put my Computer Science degree to use, and made a Virtual Tabletop to make my life easier!

It's now at the point that I feel it can make others lives easier, so I'm sharing this program with all of you!

    Presenting, the RING Visualizer!

    Major Disclaimer
This program is in an !!Alpha!! state, and is rather rough around the edges.

That said, it is totally usable if you're looking for an easier way to keep track of characters on your tactical battle grids. (I display it on a large TV when my group is playing)

I've included some example maps and "Adventures-in-Progress" so you can dive right in and begin fooling around.

    More Pictures: [1] and [2]

You can download the current version here: (Click to download)

    Spoiler: Installation Instructions

    - Download from google drive.
    - Extract both items to the same location (Your Desktop or Downloads folder should be fine)

And it's as simple as that! Execute "RING Visualizer vX.X.X.X" to run.

This looks good. When I get some time, I'll make sure to try it.

I have to ask: Is it possible to have the little characters face and move diagonally?

Right now there's no way to adjust character facing, and movement can be from anyplace to any other place (it happens instantly).

In the future, both of these things will be possible (within the constraints of the grid).

Been working on some polishing and minor tweaks today. Don't have a new build ready, but customizable facing is in!

Excellent. Might use this for testing my RPG system.

Looking great. I made what will probably be the first map of the adventure for testing my new RPG.

May I have your permission to use this program for making maps for the official testing of my game?

Please do! The next thing I'm working on adding is support for custom tilesets, so folks can make maps with something other than those 4 textures (blatantly repurposed from a minecraft texture pack I made a while back...)

I have released and updated the OP to a build that includes support for custom textures.

Consider the sample Ruins map, in both Default:

    and inverted Tilesets:

I expect one of the next things I'll be working on is net code, such that one player (de facto GM) can "host" maps and others can view sessions over the internet.
