Undead Hunter?
I would like to build a cleric of Pelor dedicated to destroying all undead. Any thought on how the build should go?

Re: Undead Hunter?
Seems like the most obvious choice would be the Radiant Servant of Pelor, since they get Extra Greater Turning, uber-healing.
The Hunter of the dead class is more focused on actual combat (full BAB and so on) but loses a lot of spellcasting abilities. Their main good point is their anti-undead defenses, while the radiant servant doesn't get much except offense.
By level 20 a combination of the two classes might be suitable.

Re: Undead Hunter?
Radiant Servant of Pelor always seemed to rock to me. Alternatively there are two classes in Liber Mortis that are similar for non-Pelorites but if you're worshipping Pelor go radiant Servant.
Like Champion of Gwynharth, it's too good not to if you meet the roleplay requirements."that nighted, penguin-fringed abyss" - At The Mountains of Madness, H.P. Lovecraft

Re: Undead Hunter?
Don't be dismayed when you find that you can't turn high level undead very well, even at high levels... Too many HD or they are have various immunities to it. The zombies will be exploding left and right tho...

Re: Undead Hunter?
Combining Radiant Servant with something to turn touch attacks into ranged touch attacks (or something to let you channel spells like a divine fist) could defintely make you extremely deadly to undead, what with maximized/empowered healing spells they get at 10th level.

Re: Undead Hunter?
Reach Spell (Comp Divine) convert any touch spell into a ray spell. +2 LA.
Split Ray (Comp Arcane) shoots one additional ray for any ray spell. +2 LA.
Divine Metamagic (Comp. Divine) Sacrafice x+1 Turn Undead uses to apply metamagic spontanously to any spell, where x is = LA.
You can now Cure from a distance, or use your Cure spells as touch attacks against undead. If the undead is particularly nasty, or you need to heal a lot very quickly, you can Split Ray it.
Use the Healing domain. This will give you +1 Caster level on all your healing spells. And use the PHBII spontanous domain varient, using the Healing domain. This will allow you to cast the 6th+ level healing spells spontanously (normally you can only lose slots to cast the appropriate Cure spell).Last edited by Person_Man; 2007-02-07 at 04:17 PM.

Re: Undead Hunter?
Those are some Clever Tricks, Person_Man. Although you should be sure to note that you have to take Divine Metamagic separately for each metamagic feat you want to use it for.
If you really want to go metamagic-intensive along those lines, also look into Ray Coning, which turns your rays into area-effect attacks, or the similar Ray Burst. These are nice because you can heal your allies at the same time as harming enemy undead."'To know, to do, and to keep silent.' Crowley had the first two down pat."

Re: Undead Hunter?
Can't Hierophant let you use touch spells at reach or is that only Archmage?

Re: Undead Hunter?
Since you'd only take one level in it it's a way better idea than relying on metamagic. You might even pick up an extra level for Blast Infidel for even more holy fun. Since this build is already relying on metamagic losing 2 9th level spell slots is more than a fair trade.
