Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
SpoilerOr... this could just be the result of a miscommunication. You probably took the first hypothetical as objective reality and the second as if it was the only one that was a mental construct, when the whole point of those two examples was that they were equally one-sided.
If you assume that the first one is objective reality, then yes it is the atheist's fault for picking a fight where there didn't need to be a fight. However, neither of the situations I presented were intended to be objective reality, so we'll just chalk this disagreement up to miscommunication and leave it there.

I intended for the above to be added on to my previous post, but you posted before I did (thus my bit about you taking the first half as objective reality when your post indicates that you actually didn't do that.)

Whatever. We can probably chalk up our disagreement on this point to you not interpreting things the way I intended them, so exactly how you interpreted them isn't exactly important. I think everybody's ready for this conversation to end.Last edited by Haruki-kun; 2015-06-22 at 11:07 PM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
The Winged Mod: Enough.
Please cease this discussion about who offended whom for what reasons at once. It is completely irrelevant to the thread, has gone on much longer than any tangent should, and is veering into very unpleasant territory.
Furthermore, I suggest everyone review the Forum Rules, specifically the section on Inappropriate Topics. Inappropriate topics are not allowed under any circumstance, even when used as examples for otherwise appropriate topics.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Has anyone tried a D&D themed werewolf? The Cleric is the baner, the Paladin the Vigilante, etc?
I am in the process of writing up a set of rules now, so input would be appreciated.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
bladescape and Qwaz ran the most recent one. There are, in fact, three different D&D-based Werewolf games, although I don't know that any of them have anything to do with each other. You could ask bladescape about it, his was pretty fun.
(I think the fun part about it was that the majority of the roles could be either alignment, as with character classes)

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
None of the DnD WW games were connected in anything other than name. And there's actually five, if you count Baldur's Gate as DnD themed.
Werewolf V: Werewolf DnD
Dungeons & Dragons: Thieves Guild
Baldur's Gate: Deeper Shadows of Amn
Dungeons & Dragons
D & D 4E: The Castle of Illusions

I'll just post this here: after a week of distractions, I posted the next narration for CoA. Three people have sent in guesses, may the rest send in theirs as well?

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
For a D&D game, avoid role congestion. You need a lot of players to have a role for each class. Instead, consider something old-school such as a party of Fighter, Rogue, Cleric and Mage (for example these in order being fool, vigilante, baner and seer) and a bunch of Henchmen or Hirelings as villagers, and the bad guys' side having an Alpha as the boss, be it a Lich or Dragon or whatever, some sort of a Recurring Villain as Devil and a bunch of monsters.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
You could do a role for each class Witchhunt-style, where every player gets a simple role (max power is usually ~1 kill per game, or 2 kills that are hard to arrange, or equivalent defense or information, with the exception of powerful Town-only roles), but most roles can be of either alignment.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
That sounds much more interesting than simply reskinning the classic roles.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
It's basically a less witty Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. While it's premise make it sounds rather gonzo for it's time, it's actually pretty mundane as British comedies go, though it does parody a significant number of soft science fiction conventions.
