    Research City is a vast and expanding super-modern city situated in the idellic 412 EtheriBiodome. The city is packed with and built around the most advanced technology in the world and a vast dedicated horde of researchers keep it perpetually on the cutting edge of etheric science.

    Of the city's 3 million official population, roughly 80% are students. These students are recruited from far and wide because of one very important thing: etheric potential. Not everyone who has it will develop the special abilities associated with etheric potential. Even for those that do, it's impossible to predict when they will sponteaneously develop. These students are brought to Research City just to be educated and studied - their magnificent abilties can be dangerous for those around them. The city is built to learn and protect but it is also built to contain.


    Adventure in Research City can come from the humblest source. Even the retreival of a stolen laptop can be a rollicking chase across the city packed with mystery, intrigue and action. Grander fonts of adventure exist - evil conspiracies that must be unravelled over the course of an entire campaign, organised crime plagues the poorer disenfranchised neighbourhoods and rogue ghost outbreaks or even kaiju need dealing with from time to time.

    Making Tests

    In TLITC your character sometimes needs to make Tests.

    When making a Test, your character rolls a handful of d6s called a "dicepool". Each d6 that comes up 5 or 6 is counted as a "hit". If the number of hits exceeds the Difficulty number of the Test, the character succeeds at whatever they were doing.

    Task Difficulty
    Easy 1
    Challenging 2
    Tough 3
    Extreme 4


    A character's dicepool is constructed from an Attribute and a Skill. Each has a numerical value and this value is the number of d6s contributed to the dicepool.
