Redcloak is going to do just as Xykon asks, so that Xykon will be killed (thus the "paint on the target" reference) and Redcloak will be in charge.

Me neither. Couple funny gags, but overall strip goes over the same territory that was dealt with quite a few times before before - that Redcloak is earnest and conscientious member of Team Evil, and Xykon is casual and aloof.

Yeah, but that wouldn't be Xykony. That would require intelligent thinking, and besides, I think Xykon wants more troop deaths rather than only a little, it gives him more enjoyment. He only wants the gate, he doesn't care for the army.

But anyway, I guess Redcloak's troop placement has to do with just smashing through the front or something.

Hm...either Redcloak is trying to get rid of Xykon, or he's just going to use the hobgobs as a diversionary for while Xykon tries to get in...those are my theories.
