Max HP for level 1, average HP for later levels.- Strike this in favor of the following houserule- At each level (including first) you gain HP equal to your HD's max –2 + your constitution modifier. Thus, a d10 class gets 8+con/level, a d8 class gets 6+con, and a d6 class gets 4+con at each level.

- No monster classes. I know what these are and there's no call for them right now.
- All classes receiving 2 skill ranks per level receive 4 instead.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
Posting to subscribe more than anything else, otherwise I'll probably forget this thread exists.
Actually, think I will post something here, just as a note, as it's probably not something that goes in the in character thread. Trizbit is currently armoured up, and currently has the appearance of a short half-elf girl clad in azure robes- her "default" false appearance. If any reference to this needs to be put into the IC thread, please tell me, as I may have mentioned I have no experience with this sort of thing.Last edited by Phillammon; 2014-06-09 at 05:36 AM.

It might be helpful to note that, yeah.
EDIT: damn typos.

Ah...it's good to be playing again.
Edit:
And thanks for the house rule Gr8. Like my HP wasn't already ridiculous.
Edit Edit:
Gr8, there was a kind of homebrew from a few years back called "Monster classes". They're Savage Progressions, but they've fallen out of favor since the Mods banned the community projects that did them.Last edited by Tanuki Tales; 2014-06-09 at 03:27 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
I'm really pleased at the detail and descriptions you guys brought to the table.
We'll give caledscratcher a little while to make his appearance, then we'll progress the story a little bit.
I would like to make AT LEAST 1 post per day, meaning we'll need everyone to post once per day to not lose turns. My Homebrew and Extended Signature

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
I just realized....
How're we doing dice rolls?
Edit:
Caled, I also think you'd have to make a Knowledge: Nature check to know I'm a troll. Definitely a DC 5 check to recognize basically what I am, but you don't have the ranks or bonuses to necessitate forgoing a roll. I think a civilized troll is sufficiently different enough and Low Coo different enough from a run of a mill wild troll that a roll would be needed even if Gr8 ruled that trolls are common enough to not require a roll to recognize.Last edited by Tanuki Tales; 2014-06-09 at 07:01 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
Last time I'm trying this.
I'm having trouble getting the website to output an example roll as well as an actual roll result. Let's try this again.
<roll]1d20+4[/roll>
will output
(1d20+4)[18]
(though you'll need to replace the "<"' with "[", of course)
If you attempt to edit a post that contains rolls, all rolls are replaced with [roll#] (# being 1, 2, 3, etc.) and should not be edited or the post gets a nasty red flag.
You may add to a post that contains rolls, but please do not delete, replace, or alter the actions in your original post, unless specifically asked to do so. It might be best to include a message about the nature of your edit at the bottom of the post.
Handle rolls, mechanics, and actions in a spoiler at the bottom of your post, please. My Homebrew and Extended Signature

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
1. This is really starting to cheese me off.
2. Shouldn't we do the rolls in the OOC thread or a dice roll thread and then make an IC post based on it and your feedback

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
Uhh, I suppose that's another way to do it. It might save time and some confusion in the editing process, that's for sure.
My TT group usually employs the "I attempt to do (blank), and roll THIS to do so... (roll)" method of interaction, though I have heard of groups who use the "I will roll THIS to see if I can do (blank)... (roll)... Knowing this result, I describe my action and its consequences."
In combat, at least, it makes the most sense to list your actions and rolls in your post, to keep the post rate up and prevent confusion with turn order. I would then describe the outcome of your actions on my next turn.
You can look at my Witherlands campaign for a sample of combat (we've been fighting scorpions for about 2 pages now).
Posting rolls in OOC, then waiting on results so you can describe your turn, seems like it would bog down the process.
I will say, if that's the way you want to do it, it should be ok. I'll check every thread at least once a day. If I see a message waiting on an outcome, I can let you know as soon as I'm aware of it. If you want to message me, that's fine too, and could be considered a private note between DM and player.
I suppose we can take a vote. Describe actions before results, or describe actions after results?
Also, I made an IC post. Everyone can go again, no particular order.Last edited by gr8artist; 2014-06-09 at 08:37 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
This is beginning to turn into a quagmire. I'm reminded why I made it a policy to not game on GitP.
I don't think speed is an issue or will really bog things down if everyone's posting speed so far is any idea of how things'll be.
Edit:
Caled, Low Coo's Fetish Mask is his pelvis; it's not a skull.
Edit Edit:
Does Low Coo notice this woman? As I said, he's not actively using Perception on the crowd.Last edited by Tanuki Tales; 2014-06-09 at 08:47 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
yes, you notice her.
Also, pelvis? What?
Edit: nevermind, just read your character description again. Somehow I'd missed that before.
Mask made from pelvic bone. Because that's not creepy at all.
Also, I do hope we can keep up this speed.
And I hope I can talk Moose into joining the campaign.Last edited by gr8artist; 2014-06-09 at 10:07 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
It just felt right, seeing as it could be regrown in a scant few minutes and you can't get more intimate tied to magic than using a piece of yourself as a focus.
And hey, just be glad Prestidigitation isn't on the Witch spell list. I wasn't even originally planning to buy needle and thread till I noticed that spell wasn't included.
Edit:
I know this is going to screw up, but:

The fact we can't edit to add in a roll (and actually see the result), is dumb as hell.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
Guys, you realize that this is the exact reason that there's a dice rolls subforum, right?
EDIT: I mean to say, surely the logical thing to do here is make the rolls in the dice rolls subforum, then link the post(s) when writing up your action.Last edited by Phillammon; 2014-06-09 at 11:35 PM.

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
Except the posts in that subforum can't be edited AT ALL, so it presents no new opportunities.
Tanta, I'm looking at that Garm identification check and I can't tell why it didn't work. It must be because you added it in later.
The easiest solution seems to be simply handling any die changes or problems in OoC if something goes wrong IC.My Homebrew and Extended Signature

Fair enough, that seems reasonable. (Not being editable is reasonable, to my eyes, inasmuch as if they were it's too easy to fudge rolls, if one were unsporting, but... yeah)

Re: OOC - TGQtPT ~ A Simple Request
The traits and flaws aren't mechanical, just intended to show Garm's narrative traits and flaws. Sorry for the confusion. And as for the pelvis v. skull thing, that was me forgetting that part of the description, but IC I would personally describe it as Garm being distracted and also not knowing anatomy too well.
EDIT: Oh right, what I'm doing. Acrobatics check to weave through the crowd: [roll]1d20+8[/roll]. Perception check to notice anything distinctly unusual about the woman: [roll]1d20+14[/roll].
Oh, and I think part of the reason why the rolls aren't working is that (as far as I understand it) you typically have to put the number of dice rolled in the roll thing, like <roll]1d20+8[/roll> instead of <roll]d20+8[/roll>. Maybe. I always include the number in front and haven't had any problems that I know of.
EDIT: ...I feel like I jinxed it. Maybe there's a problem with including the roll in an edit? Because that makes sense to me.Last edited by caledscratcher; 2014-06-10 at 07:33 AM.

Okay. If this works, I'm going to assume that putting a new roll in an edit auto-fails because the forum assumes you're cheating with a reroll. (1d20+8)[19] (1d20+14)[28]
