Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler: Spiker and BriarSpoiler: SpikerWotan nods, leaving it at that.
Briar, you look to the north and notice Spiker and Wotan returning from their trip, each carrying a deer they killed.
You all also notice that the priests and the knights have made a pit and lined the bodies of their fallen in it. Lady Sorra oversees the process, counting her dead.
Spoiler: KalimThe gith's eyes convey sadness. "...He hides it very well, " he replied. "The last thing he wants is for us to despair on his account. But I know."
He looks away. "He is certain he will die, and lives his final days to protects those who cannot defend themselves," he continued. "Such is the destiny of a hero."
Spoiler: Malvin"'Always the bigger fish," Cynric replied. "Yes. Partially what worries me is the nature of our enemy. Whatever it is, it has brought the Vassal to his knees. Tell me, Malvin: do you know what a Vassal of Bahamut is?"
Spoiler: OrenRurik laughed. "Again with th' squirrels, lad..."
He rolled up his schematic. "We better make it to the smithy, then. Tomorrow, the Vassal is organizing suitable escorts to take some of us home. And I need to be off to Sharn."Very busy these days and so posting will be sparse.

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler: tea party
"Do you know how may died Máedra? Does it hurt you as it does the master and lady of this fort?"
Briar turns away from the Dragon and towards the pit of dead, and those making it.
"I barely know them, and yet their death pains me. some of them were my Hatháeil, my Battle-Siblings, we joined against a common threat, and forged bonds in the moment of strife, even if they did not realise this."
He seems to consider something for a second.
"Do Dragons have a concept like Battle-Siblings? Sorry if that seems rude, but i have limited knowledge of the ways of Dragons. That's more of an arcane study."

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler"Beyond the obvious implications of the term, no I don't. I speculate that "vassal" in context of the divine means that he has exchanged obligation for the power to fulfil said obligation. Depending on how much power Bahamut as vested in him, there's a distinct possibility that the deity itself might be affected by Grave's personal problems. I'm hardly an expert in religious matters, however."

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler
"i believe that all intelligent, compassionate creatures, such as humans, and dragons, and even a large number of animals, will feel pain when one that they fought beside dies"
Briar looks at the group on the ground.
"i'm still trying to wrap my head around the mixed feelings people seem to have against the metal-ones, they obviously have emotions, so they're just like all the other beings like you and i, but they seem to get treated with much distrust and suspicion. Do you know why that is máedra? I've heard mention of a war, but i admit to not knowing anything about history.
((just in case you're wondering, other players were talking about the war in passing when i made that listen check))
((and i know nothing about the war, since briar doesn't have an education beyond what his grandmother has taught him))
Spoiler: editi put this in a separate spoiler so you'll hopefully notice it
can i make a listen check to hear what's going down below the Dragon and I? Like the conversations around the pit of bodies, and what keledrath's talking about? (if i'm close enough)Last edited by Somensjev; 2014-07-21 at 01:16 PM.

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler
Then, he is a fool. Such vision should not be entrusted upon a crusader whose only fate is wither away. Kalim's eye earlier crestfallen, now burns with fire. Never say die. The word is certain. That is subjective. That is what "he" surmised the fate that befalls "him." Is "he" the last that it is all but finished?

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler: Oren"But Oren, they be... Squirrels. Their brains are th' size of a bean!"
Spoiler: KalimRuz looks at you, puzzled. "Warriors face death every day they fight, Kalim. They deal in it, and they in turn receive it. What man would the Vassal be if he did not prepare for his end?"
Spoiler: BriarSpoiler: OOCAll you really hear from the two warforged, namely spiker, conversing about where to put their kills. The people handling the dead are largely silent.
Namhiras growled in pain, slightly. "Had it not been for the Last War, the kovgam arytiss, the metal warriors would not be. They were built not with the intention of raising them as a fellow sentient beings, but to use as weapons against each other. No one suspected they would have, as you say, emotions, or even souls.
Fear is what drives others to hatred of the warforged. Imagine: a sword, given life by it's masters, then to be used as an expendable resource against other mortals, and , finally, sending it free to wander the world? What does a warforged think of this, hmm? Is it confused? Afraid?" The dragon leans closer. "Or perhaps angry that it was used as a slave?"
Spoiler: Malvin"Very good. With a few exceptions, however.
"The Vassal is more than a Paladin. He is a Saint, a living embodiment of what can only be described as 'holy.' No other has been known to exist on this continent.
This is known because of his actions during the Red Hand affair. You've heard of it, haven't you? An entire horde of the Demon Queen's followers marched from the Dragon's Crown, towards the Elissar Vale just west of New Cyre. They sent more than just hobgoblins, however. They utilized giants, undead, aberrant dragonspawn, extraplanars and even the dragons themselves to take the city of Brindol. He, and a group of his companions, managed to fight them off. The Vassal himself slew an infernal dragon.
"What I'm trying to say is... How powerful does our enemy have to be in order to bring Vassal Wyrmslayer to his knees?"
Spoiler: Spiker"Around the back, and into the courtyard."Very busy these days and so posting will be sparse.

Besides, they have hidden hubs filled with squirells dedicated to nothing but planning and coordination of their forces. Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler"Interesting quandery. One would think that to bring the Vassal to his knees, the schemer would have to be at least as powerful as the Vassal himself. There's the possibility that it could be the work of a midling fiend who's managed to gain access to a powerful source of magic, designed to wreak great curses, but it seems an unlikely hope. It seems far more realistic that we are dealing with a powerful scion of Tiamat, as you said of Grave, unique in its kind on the continent. It uses fiends as servants, and wants Grave's servants to enter this place, 'the tomb of the forgotten'. Which we're planning to do." Malvin contemplates this in silence. "I think I understand your point. The forces involved does make this," he indicates to the table where they've both spent hours preparing themselves for the task ahead, "Seem quite the futile excercise in comparison."

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler: To allPosting up one for Halberd, for when prehys returns on the 29th. Oren, I'm joining your scene with Halberds in the next post.
Spoiler: HalberdGrave smiles. "They don't really. I find that stories never quite tell the whole truth, as they're passed from one ear to another. Truly, Bulwark was more... complicated. Brilliant, wise, compassionate... Yet quick to judge, and, in some cases, to act. He taught me how to wear my armor, how to properly use a blade... We became good friends."
Grave looks towards the tower, where his dragon rests. "...I had... hoped that I would meet him again, before the end... I missed him greatly when he disappeared after the creation of the Treaty."
Halberd ceases hammering, dousing the hot metal in water. He looked to Grave. "You may yet, Vassal. I'll do everything in my power to defeat whatever's causing these problems. Then, when I return, you can share more tales of Bulwark."
Grave laughs. "Then it would seem we have a deal on our hands, Halberd."
Just as Halberd finishes his first blade, two more approach the smithy: Oren, and a dwarf Halberd doesn't know.Last edited by Sir Grave; 2014-07-23 at 10:23 AM.

Spoiler: SpikerWotan stops you just as you all are out of earshot of Briar, who sits in the tree in front of the dragon. "Listen... I trust you. But I don't trust any of your friends. It's best not to talk about what we discussed in the woods with them. Some may oppose you. Even... Halberd is his name, isn't it?"
Spoiler: Oren & Halberd"Grandmaster Macada- Moradin's beard, I give up, lad. Of course the squirrels are about ta' get yeh. I can have a squirrel repellent ready for yeh in the mornin'."
You make it to the courtyard. The Vassal and Halberd are hard at work forging silver swords.
Spoiler: Kalim"The Vassal had no predecessor. He was chosen by the Platinum God himself. That said... If someone were to run the knighthood in his passing, I would say it would be Lady Sorra."

Spoiler: Oren"Aye, Longshot. Let's talk to th' Vassal."
You approach Grave as he inspects the first of many silver blades. He looks at you. "Rurik. Oren. How can I help?"
Just as he says this, the eastern portcullis rises. In come Spiker and Wotan, each with a slain deer.

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler"Then I am glad to have you along." Malvin surveyed the work he'd done. He had accomplished what he came for. He started packing his materials away. When he reached the scroll he'd left sitting alone on the table, he hesitated. It held no utilitarian value to him whatsoever - indeed taking it along would mean that it would not be at the disposal of the keep's defenders. But then again, if Cynric was right, and that seemed likely, they'd need all the hope they could get. He'd need hope.
He decided to take the scroll along.

Re: The Divine Forge - IC (Ongoing Campaign)
Spoiler: Oren & Halberd"By all means."
Rurik gives you the schematic for the rifle. "Since yeh'll be th' first to use this gun, yeh should be th' one to make it. I'll be working on yer silver ammo."
You all work tirelessly at the forge for hours, even into the night. Oren forges all of the components needed to assemble the rifle. Rurik finishes three sets of ten silver bullets. Oren begins to craft the pieces together using the schematic.
Finally, the weapon begins to take form. It has handling, a brace, a good barrel, and, more importantly, modifications from the last model: Extra ammunition.
Rurik organized five barrels with painted targets on them. "Well, lad. Test it out."
Spoiler: SpikerWotan looks after Spiker as she leaves for the hunt again. His eyes gleam. "You'll know me, in time," he says to himself. He then begins to skin the deer.
Spoiler: MalvinThat night, as you finally rest in your room, you fear to snuff out the light. Whatever torments you in your dreams may come again... especially now. But it doesn't matter. You drift to sleep anyway. And you dream...
The clearing in the forest. The skinned body hanging from the trees. As vivid as you remember... And yet... The eyes of the body move, to look at you. It speaks, but not in Brent's voice...
"Do you truly think you are safe among this pitiful gathering you've joined?" it laughed. "Do you think them friends? They do not accept you. No one will accept you. They will not protect you from me!"Very busy these days and so posting will be sparse.

Spoilerbriar looks down at the pit of bodies "i believe that i should be glad that i did not ask the Metal-ones about this, they may still harbor strong emotions about their creation."
"But, i do not believe that they should be feared, they were used as weapons, tools, but now, they have sentience, thoughts, feelings, morals, we should not fear them for what they were made to do, we should judge them for what they do now that they're free."

Oren throws back his head laughing, not even caring that the wraps on his face have fallen off. Rurik you crazy, dwarven, lunatic! It works! Hahahahahahahahahahaha...
The gunslinger stops to breath for a minute.
Sir Grave, I believe I said that when I succeeded in making this new musket, I would give a copy of the design to you? Well we have ourselves a new musket! I will make a copy of the schematic as soon as possible. Also, considering that this is the first of it's kind, I believe that 2 things should happen; 1, we need to name it. 2, we need to empower it with magical enchantments.
