Wotan nods, leaving it at that.

Briar, you look to the north and notice Spiker and Wotan returning from their trip, each carrying a deer they killed.
You all also notice that the priests and the knights have made a pit and lined the bodies of their fallen in it. Lady Sorra oversees the process, counting her dead.

Not really. They just needed some pep talk to erase their doubts. Optimism is better than wallowing in despair. It's better to give optimism to make the unfolding events easily accepted. Kalim's explicits a sad smile. I know of the Vassal's well-being. He doesn't have much longer, does he?

All you really hear from the two warforged, namely spiker, conversing about where to put their kills. The people handling the dead are largely silent.

Namhiras growled in pain, slightly. "Had it not been for the Last War, the kovgam arytiss, the metal warriors would not be. They were built not with the intention of raising them as a fellow sentient beings, but to use as weapons against each other. No one suspected they would have, as you say, emotions, or even souls.
Fear is what drives others to hatred of the warforged. Imagine: a sword, given life by it's masters, then to be used as an expendable resource against other mortals, and , finally, sending it free to wander the world? What does a warforged think of this, hmm? Is it confused? Afraid?"
The dragon leans closer. "Or perhaps angry that it was used as a slave?"

"The Vassal is more than a Paladin. He is a Saint, a living embodiment of what can only be described as 'holy.' No other has been known to exist on this continent.
This is known because of his actions during the Red Hand affair. You've heard of it, haven't you? An entire horde of the Demon Queen's followers marched from the Dragon's Crown, towards the Elissar Vale just west of New Cyre. They sent more than just hobgoblins, however. They utilized giants, undead, aberrant dragonspawn, extraplanars and even the dragons themselves to take the city of Brindol. He, and a group of his companions, managed to fight them off. The Vassal himself slew an infernal dragon.
"What I'm trying to say is... How powerful does our enemy have to be in order to bring Vassal Wyrmslayer to his knees?"

Brilliant, wise, compassionate... Yet quick to judge, and, in some cases, to act. He taught me how to wear my armor, how to properly use a blade... We became good friends."

Grave looks towards the tower, where his dragon rests. "...I had... hoped that I would meet him again, before the end... I missed him greatly when he disappeared after the creation of the Treaty."

Halberd ceases hammering, dousing the hot metal in water. He looked to Grave. "You may yet, Vassal. I'll do everything in my power to defeat whatever's causing these problems. Then, when I return, you can share more tales of Bulwark."

Grave laughs. "Then it would seem we have a deal on our hands, Halberd."

Just as Halberd finishes his first blade, two more approach the smithy: Oren, and a dwarf Halberd doesn't know.

"Then I am glad to have you along." Malvin surveyed the work he'd done. He had accomplished what he came for. He started packing his materials away. When he reached the scroll he'd left sitting alone on the table, he hesitated. It held no utilitarian value to him whatsoever - indeed taking it along would mean that it would not be at the disposal of the keep's defenders. But then again, if Cynric was right, and that seemed likely, they'd need all the hope they could get. He'd need hope.
He decided to take the scroll along.

    "By all means."
Rurik gives you the schematic for the rifle. "Since yeh'll be th' first to use this gun, yeh should be th' one to make it. I'll be working on yer silver ammo."

You all work tirelessly at the forge for hours, even into the night. Oren forges all of the components needed to assemble the rifle. Rurik finishes three sets of ten silver bullets. Oren begins to craft the pieces together using the schematic.
Finally, the weapon begins to take form. It has handling, a brace, a good barrel, and, more importantly, modifications from the last model: Extra ammunition.
Rurik organized five barrels with painted targets on them. "Well, lad. Test it out."

"Of course, i am but an inexperienced, uneducated child, i do not expect to sway anyone's feelings of the metal-ones merely with my fancy words"

Sir Grave, I believe I said that when I succeeded in making this new musket, I would give a copy of the design to you? Well we have ourselves a new musket! I will make a copy of the schematic as soon as possible. Also, considering that this is the first of it's kind, I believe that 2 things should happen; 1, we need to name it. 2, we need to empower it with magical enchantments.
Oren seems to be almost giddy.
