Re: OOTS #419 - The Discussion Thread
Oh, well there goes the hopes of the Miko-as-a-Blackguard fans.
For the most part.
Very well handled, with thought into how the character would actually respond.

Re: OOTS #419 - The Discussion Thread
Damage Reduction applies against internal injuries? Ooh, nice.
I loved the "Good-doers Anonymous"-style lines at the beginning. Nice to see evil characters in a non-violent environment. Even nicer to see that Miko is still Lawful Good as only Miko can be.Last edited by Thomar_of_Uointer; 2007-02-26 at 08:33 PM.
"...I worry that modern gaming is gradually shrinking the wide spectrum of gameplay mechanics into a single narrow red bar with "KILL" written on it sideways. Exploration, navigation, puzzles, platforming, all gradually shrinking away until only one thing remains, being taken by the hand from room to room, moving on only when nothing remains alive in each one." - Yhatzee Crosshaw

Re: OOTS #419 - The Discussion Thread
Well, this answers the question of whether Miko has really "plunged over the deep end," or whether she is still a very confused but non-evil character who is trying hard to separate the concepts of Law and Good that she grew up thinking were the same things.
I'm glad she isn't headed the way of the Blackguard ... if only because it's cliche. Well, plus the fact that a long, slow, tough redemption process could be very cool storytelling and character development.
And all that -- early! And the applause after Belkar's announcement was hilarious. And Miko's handling of Sabine was pretty sweet in a kick-trash sort of way.
My only main problem with this strip is that it's yet another delay before the war with Xykon really begins ...You can call me Draz.

Also of note:
- Winning Entry of Gestalt Build Challenge IV
- 3rd Place in Iron Chef XI (Blade Bravo)
- Judge of Iron Chef XXIII (Divine Champion)
I have a number of ongoing projects that I manically jump between to spend my free time ... so don't be surprised when I post a lot about something for a few days, then burn out and abandon it.

Re: OOTS #419 - The Discussion Thread
Heh, love Belkar's lines as usual.
A good way to have "non-peaceful" interaction with Sabine
EDIT: Looks like Nale's goatee is growing back fast now that the plot doesn't require it be absent.Last edited by S.ilver; 2007-02-26 at 08:37 PM.

Trust Belkar to milk the most of this kind of situation..
He took improved crafting disturbing mental images recently?.If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... it might be Elan. They\'re about the same int range, but no self respecting duck would be caught dead with a kazoo

For a psychotically evil murderer who would gladly kill his teammates, Belkar sure makes me like him with his dialog.

Re: OOTS #419 - The Discussion Thread
Nice throw by Belkar to wake her up as well. For the Blackguard hopefuls, it's not officially out yet, just the simplest path. For those hoping for a longer tale, it's still on.

Maybe there is still yet hope for Miko's redemption. Of course, she still could change her mind later, I guess.
