What stats should I use?
I'm thinking about making a character who uses a Grosse Messer but I'm not sure what stats I should use to represent it.
I'm thinking Falchion but any input would be helpfull.

Re: What stats should I use?
Yes, the Falchion would be appropriate for D&D. However, treating it as a single edged Bastard Sword would probably serve just as well.

It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.

Re: What stats should I use?
I think I'm going to use Falchion stats.
Any suggestions to a lvl. 6 "Medium Infantry" build?

Re: What stats should I use?
Fighter 2/Barbarian 4 (if chaotic), Fighter 2/Knight 4 (if lawful). Scout 6 if you feel like being a little more wilderness oriented.
EDIT: If you have Tome of Battle, go with Crusader 6 or Warblade 6.Last edited by Fax Celestis; 2007-02-28 at 03:58 PM.

Re: What stats should I use?
Not always the greatest reference, but a simple search here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grosse_Messer
explicitly states a comparison to the falchion. I wouldn't see any problems with statting a DnD weapon similarly.I'm gonna torture you so long you'll think it's a career.

Re: What stats should I use?
I'm going to use the one from the video and that one is by no means one-handed.

Re: What stats should I use?
Falchion is just a catch all term in the context of that Wikipedia Article, like 'Sword', you get various permutations.

Re: What stats should I use?
The concept I had in minds was a former mercenary turned caravan guard.
He uses a grosse messer because its relatively cheap and very durable. (Full tang, this baby isn't going to snap any time soon)
I think a scout is a little light for this concept and the knight and the barbarian doesn't fit at all IMHO.
So, any other suggestions?

Re: What stats should I use?
Uh, Fighter? Depends what you want to do with this character. There are tons of options in terms of Base Classes and Prestige Classes.
Human Fighter would probably be my choice, though. Power Attack, Cleave, Combat Expertise, Weapon Focus (Falchion), Weapon Specialisation (Falchion). He would pretty much do what it says on the tin at Level 4.Last edited by Matthew; 2007-02-28 at 04:33 PM.

Re: What stats should I use?
You could weild the sword shown in the video one handed. He just has 2 hands on it for more power. Its around 3 feet long so its about bastard sword length. If you wanted to go with it as a two-handed only weapon, I would use falchion stats since its a lot smaller then a great sword.
