Ways to get spells from other spell lists
I was reading through Dragon Magic and saw the 2nd level ability of the Wyrm Wizard (p55). It seems pretty cool because it grants you the ability to take another spell from another class's spell list. It made me wonder what other class abilities grant spells from other spell-lists?

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
Warmages and Beguilers have Advanced Learning which lets them do that. Still it is limited to certain schools. Archivist can learn spells from any divine class too. That is all I can think of.
And you can allways try to persuade your DM to let you research spells from another spell lists.Last edited by marjan; 2007-03-12 at 04:25 PM.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
I'm not as interested in gaining this for myself as much as seeing all the ways to do it.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
The Master Specialist PrC (Complete Mage) actually lets you grab a few spells off of any list, but they have to be in your specialty school.
You can also do spell research to create a spell that matches one on another list. What you can get will depend entirely on what the DM feels is appropriate, however.Last edited by Jacob Orlove; 2007-03-12 at 04:27 PM.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
Master Specialist does nothing of the sort. It doesn't specify that you can get the spells from other spell lists, so you can't. Unseen Seer, on the other hand, *does* let you get Divination spells from any list... because it explicitly says so.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
Unseen Seer doesn't show up on the PRC index. Curious what source book it is from. Thanks.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
Debateably, a Sorcerer can take any Arcane spell, provided he has gained some understanding of it through study, and his spells are primarily on the Sor/Wiz list.
Of course, by the time I finish this post, it will already be obsolete. C'est la vie.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
Actually, Unseen Seer does appear.
The list doesn't default to true alphabetical order. Everything that was available when the list was first made is in alphabetical order at the front. Then everything comes in chunks in the order in which the products were released. I imagine you just went to the first "U" section you saw, noticed it wasn't there, and decided it wasn't on the list. I made that particular mistake with a PH2 feat on the feat index once.
If you want better sorting, you have to use the header links at the top of the table. The Future just ain’t what it used to be.

Re: Ways to get spells from other spell lists
The Chameleon PrC can pray for any divine spell, and cast any arcane spell if he can decipher the spellbook it's in, up to it's max of 6th level spells anyway.

A collection of over 200 pages of individually small bans, tweaks, brews, and rule changes, usable piecemeal or nearly altogether, and even some convenient lists. Everything I've done that I'd call done enough to use in one place (plus a number of things I'm working on that aren't quite done, of course).
