Default Iron Mage V: Penny for your Thoughts

Welcome back, playgrounders, to the Iron Mage competition. Inspired by the popular game show from the OotS universe (See "On the origin of PCs", page 47), the object of this game is to use a material component (selected by your truly) to create a unique new spell for casters everywhere to use. This spell may be of any level or school, and can have any effect you desire (provided it fits with the component). You may create up to five spells for submission, and can also have up to three magic items based around the spells (wondrous items, magic armor or weapons, etc.)

Spells will be judged on the following criteria:
-Originalityl: We want to see something unique and inventive! Use your imagination on this competition! Plagarism is strictly prohibited.
-Flavor: A spell has to fit with the component. You won't be conjuring up lighting using a rock.
-Functionality: Your spell should be fun to use. Make players want to add it to their spellbook.

The spells will be judged by other playgrounders, and voted for on the voting thread. One must vote in order for their spell to be eligible to win, and one obviously is not allowed to vote for themself.

Without further ado, I give you the component:

    Protection from Rust
    Abjuration
    Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 1, Wu jen (Metal) 1, Shugenja (Earth) 1, Druid 1
    Components: S, M
    Casting time: 1 Standard Action
    Range: Touch
Target: 1 Metal object with a maximum area of 10 cubic feet
    Duration: 2 rounds/caster level
    Saving Throw: Fortitude (Harmless)
    Spell Resistance: No

You oxidize a single copper piece and apply the copper oxide to a single metal object, thus protecting it from the harmful effects of rust.

    Material component: one copper piece
Fun fact: The layer of copper oxide on copper actually protects the rest of the alloy from further rusting.

    Coin of Obsession
    Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
    Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 9, Beguiler 9
    Components: V, F
    Casting time: 1 Standard Action
    Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels)
    Target: One Creature
    Duration: 3 days (See Text)
    Saving Throw: Will
    Spell Resistance: Yes

Upon completion of the spell, the target is convinced that the ordinary copper piece you are holding is of unbelievable rarity and value (more valuable than all of his other treasure combined). For the duration of the spell, he must dedicate her every action to trying to obtain it. The methods that the target uses can range from, barter, to lying, to stealing, to murder, depending on the moral character and level of desperation he has come to.

While the target is seeking this coin, he refuses to eat, sleep, drink, or any other action that cannot somehow be justified as a way to obtain this worthless trinket.

The spell ends as soon as the target has received the copper piece, realizing that it's worthless and likely feeling betrayed and actively hostile toward the caster.

    Focus: A single copper piece

    Magic Item - Popper's Coppers

The small, tattered hand-purse that stands before you contains 100 copper pieces. Upon using the command word followed by the type of coin you desire to use (silver, gold, platinum, or whatever type of coin the nation you're in uses), the copper piece disguises itself as this form of currency. In addition, the coin teleports back into the purse in ten rounds if it is within fifteen feet, if the purse is out of range, the coins teleports as close as it can and them falls to the ground.

The cashier is entitled to a Will save (or Appraise if he has the skill) DC 11 if he has any reason to suspect that the coins are fake. No Will save or Appraisal check is possible if the coppers are in their original form, as they are genuine copper pieces.

Faint Illusion; CL 6th; Craft Wondrous Item, Disguise Self, Dimension Hop (see Player's handbook II); 29,700

    Spoiler: Needless to say
    Show
This item is illegal in all civilized areas and might cost significantly more in such places. The price listed above is for the hand purse and for all of the coins together. The price for the purse alone is 8100 and each coin is worth 216 individually.

    Crushing Greed

    Range: Touch
Target: A valuable piece of equipment

    SR: No

With a flick of the wrist and the toss of a coin, one piece of your opponents equipment are turned worthless into about 1000 copper pieces, which crush the user for 1d6/2 levels Bludgeoning damage (Reflex for half). Interplanar Call.

    Evocation
    Level: Wiz/Sorc 7
    Components: V, S, M
    Casting Time: 10 minutes
    Target: A creature.
    Duration: see text.
    Saving Throw: None
    Spell Resistance: No

As you complete this spell, you shout the name of a known person you want to talk with. Its name echoes in the air until, a few seconds later, a low beep warn you of the enstablished connection.
From then on, you can sacrifice a copper piece to send a small message (40 words maximum) to that person, than can instantly answer you back with the same number of words.
You can sacrifice more than a copper piece (up to your Caster Level) and this allows you to send more messages and have them answered.
The spell ends when you have received the answer to your last message, when you want it to end (even if you haven't reached your maximum messages number) or when the person you are talking with emploies more than a minute to answer you back.
The actual position of this creature is not relevant: the spell is able to reach him even if it is on another plane.

Material component: One ore more copper pieces.
