Maybe they had trouble getting the Commandos' actors for more than one episode? Or they wanted to explore the SSR more?

Maybe, but it ended up looking like a lame serious version of Get Smart. A shame, but too late to fix it.

I'm more concerned with the internal justification. Why would Peggy Carter prefer her life at the SSR where they don't respect her and she doesn't fit in, when she can have a life where they would and she does.

The Howling Commandos are probably just on Garrison duty in West Germany, sitting there in case World War III breaks out. Peggy wants to be doing something.
Plus, she's an intelligence agent, not a Soldier. She could probably find some excuse to spend all her time hanging out with the 107th, but that's not really on her career path.

Worth watching online at some point? Or more of the same, with 12% more plot justification?

I use the same name in every game I ever play or forum I join (except the pretender on PSN that forced me to be RealOlinser). If you see an Olinser in a game or on a website, there's a high chance it's me, feel free to shoot me a message.

It's worth it. It justifies the stuff that happened last episode.

Fun episode, probably my favorite so far. Sure, AC hasn't been as great as (this season of) AoS, but I still enjoy the mix of humor and intrigue it delivers. And this episode had a lot of both! Really, the entire thing with Carter and Jarvis hunting Stark's old flames was wonderfully amusing, and the twist with Dr. Ivchenko worked well (and helped last episode make a bit more sense). Props for the "she's gonna snipe him" fakeout. Also, things are moving along with Carter now an enemy of the law. Eagerly anticipating the next part.

Favorite line: Either "You think Ginger Rogers is a Russian assassin?" ("You should've seen her eyes when I escorted her from Mr. Stark's villa. The darkest gates to the abyss.") or "She has defaced the very walls of this institution!" (Miriam knows her priorities).

Speculation: Is Dr. Ivchenko the MCU version of Dr. Faustus? I know AoS mentioned something about the "Faustus Method" in connection to that whole compliance business, but maybe it could all be connected. Somehow.

Something threw me off last night and that was the Russian doctor. How did he hypnotize people? I mean is he an Inhuman perhaps? Or is his wedding ring super tech? I mean he got a guy to go to a bar get drunk and walk straight into the path of a truck. That's some pretty potent hypnosis. Also am I the only one that is annoyed that Agent Carter is stuck with her co-workers at the SSR? I mean they treat her like garbage, and are so dumb that they can't see a Russian conspiracy that has practically punched them in the face, and now they've arrested her for espionage and treason? My best guess is that the ending of the series is that the SSR is dissolved for their incompetence, Howard is exonerated and that Peggy founds SHIELD.

, I've got a feeling this ends with the founding of SHIELD, yeah.

So, here's a dumb theory crafting moment from me. That fat kid Jarvis felt super intimidated by is The Kingpin as a child. So that's a Daredevil cameo!

Also, "it was for a knock out poison" or not, this is another in a long line of series that have cropped up that have had pro lesbian stuff in it, so that's cool. A few years ago, two ladies kissing would of gotten you cancelled.

With as much focus as was given to the ring, I think it's a safe bet the ring was involved.

And in fairness, I'm pretty sure Peggy has committed espionage and treason. Stealing the orb from the research room is all kinds of illegal.

That is a good point, although Peggy probably saved countless people by stealing back Cap's blood. Attempts to recreate Erskine's formula usually end in disaster. I mean even in the MCU we have Blonsky turning into the abomination (Cap serum and gamma radation do NOT mix well.) In Iron Man 3 an attempt to create super-soldiers led to the whole extremis mess and the Centipede guys from agents of shield had a mixture of Cap serum, extremis, and gamma radiation. So I would assume if the blood ends up in the wrong hands we'll just end up with another cackling supervillian.

Espionage sure, but are we sure about treason? Do you not have to be a citizen since treason is against your own government? She may work for them but as far as we know she it still not an American.

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that treason is about breaking allegiances. Citizens are assumed to have allegiance to their own government, but I'd expect a non-citizen government employee to be required to swear allegiance as a condition of taking the job.

I feel like it is because I don't think they'd of used a very large child for the role otherwise, since one could argue it's funnier with a skinny kid. Additionally, there are many terms he could of used, but he used Mafioso, which is specifically what King Pin is.

I don't think the ring was magical, but I do think it was key to his technique.

TV hypnosis, what's used? Soft, steady voice, accompanied by a rhythmic visual or tactile distraction for the mind to focus on while the voice reaches the subconscious.

The ring twisting was at even intervals and glinting, the equivalent of a swinging watch, or rotating "hypno-disk."

She shoved the drill into his brain through his eye. While it was on. His mind got frappe'd.

She's a programed soldier, she had to bring the gun. And besides, what if he needed someone shot all of a sudden? Good to have a sniper to do so just in case.

Yeah, I dig the idea of the kid being a young Wilson Fisk. Though, I gotta say, that'd make him a bit old. Maybe Fisks dad? (Who never made it above mid level in the Mob in the comics if I recall correctly.)

And yeah, just when the SSR were finally starting to NOT make me want to throw them out a window to do the gene pool a favor.

I know how you feel, last episode I thought maybe they'd gotten somewhat sympathetic (keyword somewhat) Then this episode happened. I felt near enraged near the end when Dooley said "Don't go easy on her just because she is a woman." I said out loud So you going to beat the snot out of her like that guy from Roxxon? Ugh! they are not likeable characters. To me there are Hydra characters on Agents of shield I can tolerate more than the SSR crew. I can tolerate Agent Ward better than them, and he's a murderous turncoat! Still I like the show since to me at least Agent Carter, Jarvis, Howard Stark and the Howling commandos showing up plus the Black Widow program offset the SSR's annoyingness.

One could argue that not taking it easy on her is accepting that she's just as good as any man. I doubt he's doing to beat her half to death, especially because it's CARTER, but this is him saying "Don't let your guard down" essentially.

Look, the era is ****ed right the hell up. No question about that.
