[D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Link to the IC thread.
The 5 current players :
- Beta Centauri - Alejandro al-Faisal, Half-Elf Paladin
- rafet - Leechius, Tiefling Infernal Warlock
- Necroticplague - Centabra Efcup, Centered Breath Monk
- Drakeburn - Leodor Wildroot, Elven Predator Druid
- Anubis Dread - Gregoras Melvis, Crazy Stalker Shaman (BG)
In case somebody's out :
- GPuzzle - Keller, Deva Cleric|Wizard
- trysted - Comatose, Eladrin Infernal Warlock
As implied by the IC thread, your characters don't know each other (except if you want them to have met one another before, your choice, and can be done one by one), so if you think your characters should say a bit about themselves before jumping into the fray, don't hesitate. Just remember : you've been told you're in a hurry ! :pLast edited by TomPliss; 2015-01-09 at 05:31 PM.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Everyone is welcome to know Alejandro. He's gregarious and boisterous. That means that if you want him to know your character then he does.
It doesn't seem like this game will be much about the characters getting to know each other, but I sure like it when no one is playing a laconic loner, out for themselves.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Your welcome to know Leechius. He doesn't mind company, but with rough exterior he never appears to enjoy it. Lastly, he can be occasionally flombyant, he is more known for a wicked grin to curl around his lips when his anger rises.
If you want to be that old friend that encourages him along with an optmitic view, we could do that?

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Keller is actually a Deva.
The Githzerai was from when I first tried to write him down, but I ultimately settled on Deva.
On Keller, he's rather calm, impersonal, collected, and carries a sword that is akin to Cloud's (from FFXII) sword, so expect him to accidentally hit stuff with it frequently.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Noted.
Oh, and by the way, I haven't mentionned it in the IC hread (yet), but even though the characters are in the tavern to drink a bit and may not have their equipment on them, you didn't pick it for nothing. You will have your items before the first fighting bit (well, except maybe if you want to kill the dwarf :/ ).
EDIT: Oh, and one thing : If you could provide me a portrait picture of your character (and if you want one for a wildshape of companion animal/spirit), it would be really useful once maps are used ;)Last edited by TomPliss; 2015-01-10 at 08:04 AM.

Oh right, images. Here's a pair for Gregoras and Quakers. Er, Quackers. Just realized written as it was it would be pronounced Kway-Kurs instead of Kwak-Ers

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Sorry to take so long. I've been busy with college classes and work, as well as housework. Dragging out an old mattress is no easy task.
I hope it isn't too late to catch up. I'll work on the crunch along the way.

Dun dun dun...
EDIT: GPuzzle is one of the "waiting list" players. Please do not insist too much that his character follows the group ;)Last edited by TomPliss; 2015-01-13 at 10:00 AM.

Okay, so I've finished the crunch for Leodor Wildroot.
He's certainly going to be a valuable member to the party. *cough*morevaluablethanthetiefling*cough*

Any half-elf, elf, or human in plate armor works for Alejandro.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
I'll need you guys to confirm the marching order :
Centabra
Alejandro and Leechius
Gregoras and Leodor
Note that I assume, for now, that you're right behind eachother. If someone wants to scout more ahead (in case soemone in heavy armor in not trusted to be stealthy enough or something), don't hesitate to tell me :)
Also, sneaking or no sneaking ? (if so, rolls :p )
And, obviously, left and/or right ? :-°Last edited by TomPliss; 2015-01-15 at 03:23 AM.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
I'm not sure what different marching order is really going to make, but that's fine with me.
I'm happy for combat to start any time now. As for "trusting" a character to do something, I'm not going to block anything anyone tries to do that isn't attacking another player, which I'll handle out of character anyway. I will back any play. I don't expect the same treatment, but it might help matters if we knew what was at stake. Say someone does attempt something they're not good at, and fails? What's the worst that can happen? Usually it's character death, so what will happen in that event? I have a backup character, but the adventure isn't really well set up to bring in new characters. Is the player of a dead PC just out of the game?
If not, then there's not really any good reason to block anything anyone wants to do. If it works, cool, if it goes horribly wrong, still cool. Anyway, that's how I see it, and that's why I'm not going to argue with, negate, prevent or counter anything anyone wants to do or with any GM ruling or statement.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Well, I was just talking about stealth, so it would not be death (directly), but yeah...
About death and other things, I'd rather have you continue with a character with an important injury (missing arm or something like that) than simply try and come back with an alternate character.
Also, if one of the character dies, well, it depends on whether the player wants to continue. We have 2 players in a "waiting list", after all. Anyway Thanks to the portals, I can provide special things now and then, with the Dwarf (and his friends) opening temporary portals to help you, or even throw an extra adventurer.
Finally, about the combat starting any time, well, you have to choose left or right : Left is combat, right is combat :pPlaying Gregoric "Dragonborn" Khuzir, the Silver Winged Magus in [PF] Killer Dungeon: Borealum (IC / OOC)

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
Not too much reason to worry about it, then.
That's fine, except that it wouldn't take much of an injury for a character to be rendered pretty much unplayable. Might I recommend imposing the penalty used for the Raise Dead ritual: -1 to most d20 rolls until three milestones are completed?
Excellent.

Re: [D&D 4e] OOC - The Pearl of Time - combat oriented adventure
uh, nice roll :)
EDIT: By the way, initiative rolls, everyone ?
You'll have a surprise round !
But if non-monks want to really benefit from it, stealth rolls may be needed from those who will want to get closer to the action, as your characters are basically 5-7 squares from the room entrance. But one giant beetle will be an available target without going that far.
Anyway, battlemap will come in a few hours (either 2h, either 10h), and it will be clearer.
Don't hesitate to roll initiative before then, though ;)Last edited by TomPliss; 2015-01-16 at 10:10 AM.

Shouldn't you have at least a +2 from the half-level bonus?
