Default MLP campaign? "Slice of Life"?

So. A couple of months ago a friend tried to start a My Little Pony game. Apparently this is a thing that happens. Her game never got beyond some of us concepting characters (that were apparently unacceptable anyway).

But I see it happens on forums as well, this idea of pony-themed "slice of life" roleplaying. What I can't get my brain around is what happens in such games. What actually happens in the campaign? What is the result?

    Can anyone help me understand?

Some people go to work five times a week.
"What actually happens in [their life]? What is the result?"

Which is to say, the pony-ness changes nothing.

Ever watched a slice-of-life TV show?
Take out the epic adventure plot and all the B-plots come into focus.
The emphasis is usually on characters interacting and developing.

"What actually happens in [the TV show Friends]? What is the result?"

While there are results, you can't really pin any down as the important ones.

Alternately, there are plenty of points in the show (and comic) where the ponies DO go on adventures to slay/reform some BBEG. You could always have the B-plots build up to that sort of thing, for contrast's sake. At least then, the B-plots wouldn't be taken out of the main focus, but the more action-oriented players would still have something to look forward to.

Not exactly slice of life, but there might be some good ideas in the adventures of Joe Wood.

If you're curious about how that would work, you might want to look into Golden Sky Stories, an RPG with no combat system and where your magic is literally powered by friendship. Here's a podcast of some people trying it out.

Ok, that makes sense to me.

Think of it like a sitcom.
