Default The Ultimate Linear Guild Tournament: matches 7-9

Greetings all tagonists, both of the 'pro' and 'an' variety, and welcome to

    The Ultimate Linear Guild Tournament

In which all past members of the Linear Guild compete for the title of Ultimate Rival!

    The Contestants:
    1. Nale
    2. Sabine
    3. Thog
    4. Zz'dtri
    5. Hilgya Firehelm
    6. Yikyik
    7. Leeky Windstaff
    8. Pompey
    9. Yokyok
    10. Yukyuk

    The Process
Each week, I will post three head-to-head matches between competitors, and y'all will be able to vote once in each. Voting will last for one week, after which I will post another three matches. This will continue until all Linear Guilders have faced three other competitors. At this point, a score for each Linear Guilder will be computed. The score of a competitor depends on the scores of those they defeated, which in turn depends on the scores of who they defeated. It is a variation of the PageRank algorithm used by Google.
Subsequently, the tournament will enter the Elimination Phase. During the Elimination Phase, the Linear Guilder with the lowest score will be eliminated. The three remaining Linear Guilders who previously faced the eliminated contestant will each play each other. Thus, each remaining Linear Guilder will have played three matches against other remaining Linear Guilders. The score of the remaining characters will be recomputed, and the cycle continues until only three remain. At that point, the Final Three will each play rematches against each other to determine the Ultimate Rival!
If, during the Elimination Phase, there is a tie for last place, the tied contestants will enter a Tiebreaking Round. The Tiebreaking Round includes everyone who is tied for last place, along with the wildcard partial Linear Guilders Yakyak (what kind of a stupid name is 'Yakyak' anyways?) and Ysometimesykysometimesyk (who is actually the MitD polymorphed into the form of a kobold). However, Yakyak and Ysometimesykysometimesyk are not actually eligible for advancement, due to not being True Linear Guilders. They are just there to shake up the Tiebreaking Round.
The true inner workings of the Tiebreaking Round are a far more interesting game than the other rou--
    game?
No, no, not a literal game, it's just a--
that's okay, thog too hungry for sprinkles to play game

Well, I was going to monologue the rest of the evil tournament procedure right here, but I have to go to get sprinkles before anyone accuses me of mixing different strips together.

    Previous Matches
    1. Nale vs. Yukyuk: 14-5
    2. Sabine vs Yokyok: 16-3
    3. Leeky Windstaff vs Pompey: 15-4
    Zz'dtri vs Yikyik 23-0
    Sabine vs Thog 13-10
Hilgya Firehelm vs Leeky Windstaff 9-14

In a surprising upset last week, Sabine defeated the normally popular Thog. Moving on to...

    The Current Match
    7. Nale vs Zz'dtri
    8. Thog vs Yokyok
    9. Hilgya Firehelm vs Yukyuk

Voting for these matches will end Monday, January 26, at which point we will move on to three new random matches!

I feel bad for the kobolds, but they're just such non-characters it's impossible to vote for them. (Incidentally, you seem to be using Yokyok's head for all three).

Oh, right, forgot to answer a question from the previous thread:
Quote Originally Posted by declinator View Post

One guild member goes out, which means that up to three are missing one match (in later stages, some might have fought others more than once). I don't understand how playing a round-robin among the survivors is helpful, as this will give them four matches each, and not three.

    So example
    A has fought D E F
    B has fought C E F
    C has fought B D E
    D has fought A C F
    E has fought A B C
    F has fought A B D

Once F is eliminated, it's A B and D who need one extra fight, but how are you going to satisfy that? You'll always have that problem: An odd-sized group cannot each have an odd number of fights in between them, as a fight always counts for two sides.
You are correct: after the first elimination, three more matches will take place. As a result, three remaining contestants will have played four matches, while the others will have played three.

137ben, I want to point out again that you're using Yokyok's smiley to represent all three kobolds. You can tell because it's got his little mustache and goatee.

Yea, but I don't know of a smiley for the other kobolds. I guess I could do what the C&LG has done and use for Yikyik and for Yukyuk. Or I could just leave out smilies for the other two kobolds.

I have a link to the OOTS Smilies thread in my signature (or here if it's not visible for some reason). Look under "Linear Guild".

Zz'dtri-again, one of my three favorite characters.
Yokyok-my favorite race, and Iņigo Montoya. Sorry, thug.
Yukyuk-if the little animal-abusing cretin weren't a kobold, I'd abstain from this matchup.
Where's what's-her-name, the chick with the pigtails?
Jirix: Tsukiko? She was here when the sewer team reported in...

    Jirix: No.
    No.
    Demon Roaches: No. Nope.
Not since I brutally murdered her ten minutes ago, no.
