Default Mindless Destruction, a new class (Incomplete)

This is my first homebrewed anything, I am sure there will be a lot of mistakes and I welcome constructive criticism, suggestions, and comments, just don't flame. In any case, here's what I've done so far, and all I'm gonna do tonight more than likely. The class is based around using improvised weapons.

As you near a roadside inn, a commotion reaches your ears. You quicken your step to investigate, and narrowly miss getting hit by a flying dwarf. Close behind him, a cart is flying through the air, almost knocking you down as well. And then you see the massive ogre, surrounded by shattered remains of barrels, furniture, and dead adventurers. Before you, lies a brawler.

Adventures: Brawlers adventure for many reasons- profit, blood, exile, though it generally isn’t for a greater cause nor to help others.

Characteristics: Brawlers are all about rage – they unleash their fury, smashing opponents as well as the occasional ally with whatever they can find. Most go weaponless, and all have no armor. A brawlers most devastating feature is it’s diverse weapons – a brawler uses any heavy objects it can find, swinging or chucking great masses at the opponent until whatever it wields breaks, then finding a new improvised club.

Alignment: Due to the brawler’s rage and fury in battle, as well as the destruction they wreak, they are never lawful, and are almost always chaotic evil.

    Religion:
If any god is followed by a brawler, it is most likely to be a primitive one, one that the brawler could tribute to with fallen foes.

Background: All it takes to become a brawler is muscle and a natural resort to violence. Often the beast races will follow this path, as well as any other strong, not so intelligent race.

Races: Orcs, Half-orcs, and any large creatures will become Brawlers. Dwarfs and Humans, though less likely, sometimes are as well. Small races, Elves, and Half-elves are never Brawlers.

Other Classes: Brawlers can get along well with any class, so long as it is evil. They prefer the company most times, as many brawlers aren’t the best at thinking. They often become henchmen, easily coerced into working for another.

Role: Brawlers are purely front line fighters, preferably not close to any allies.

    GAME RULE INFORMATION
Brawlers have the following game statistics.

Abilities: Strength is a must for the brawler, in order for it’s attacks to be effective. Constitution helps to keep the brawler alive, and dexterity will allow it’s unarmored body to dodge enemy attacks.

    Hit Dice: d12

    Class Skills
The brawler’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Intimidate (Cha), Swim (Str), Climb (Str), Jump (Str)
    Skill Points at 1st level: 1 x 4
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 1

    Class Feature

Illiteracy: A Brawler can not read or write unless cross-classed with a class that can.

Armor Proficiency: A brawler is not proficient with any armor, and cannot wear any armor, even if proficient from other classes.

Weapon Proficiency: A Brawler is proficient with all simple melee weapons, and simple ranged weapons that are thrown.

Thick Skinned: A brawler’s body, through extensive abuse, has toughened up, allowing the Brawler an extra natural armor bonus of +4

    Furious Rage:
Starting at level 2, the brawler may enter a furious rage during combat as a free action, gaining an additional bonus to strength and dexterity based rolls equal to the brawler’s level. The brawler must attack the nearest living creature in whatever way it chooses. There is no limit to furious rages, but to calm down from a furious rage requires a full round action, in which the brawler will stop 1d4 rounds later. Alternatively, an ally may attempt to calm the brawler down with a charisma based roll vs 15 + the brawler’s level, in which the furious rage will cease immediately.

Weapon Proficiency: Improvised Weapons. At level 3, the brawler gains the bonus feat Weapon Proficiency: Improvised Weapon. The brawler will no longer incur a –4 to attack rolls for using an improvised weapon.

Since the brawler level will continue to increase while your charisma won't, after level 5 or so, this becomes impossible for most. Maybe make it an opposed diplomancy vs 15 + brawler level. Or 5 + brawler give someone maxing diplomancy a much better chance. Also, does the ally need to take a move action, a standard action, a free action or a full round action to calm him down?

All in all, sounds like the cleric will get tired of casting Calm Emotions on him.
Or maybe make him confused instead once the last foe is gone for the next 1d4 rounds.

Can this Base Class gain Weapon Focus (Improvised Weapons) and Weapon Specialisation (Improvised Weapons). If not, it probably should. I am not convinced about the fluff reasons for favouring an Evil Alignment or of the need for an entirely new Base Class for this mode of fighting, so I would like to hear more about the inspiration behind it.

Ah, Matthew addressed what I logged on to talk about. Essentially, I rushed posting this up last night as I wasn't at my house, and that was the quickest way to save the work so I could continue it when I got home.

After reflecting, I don't see this class as having any flexibilty to rp in, or even actually needing to be a class. The whole concept revolved around using improvised weapons, and quite frankly, a couple homebrewwed skills would accomplish this better than a whole class. As such, I am going to shut this down.

Thanks you to the couple of people who posted, in any future classes I make, if I come across a similiar situation as the ones you commented on here, I shall have that much more insight into it.

I hope Fax doesn't think I'm a stalker, but I do admire his work; one part of which is a brawler class very similar to this: http://corporation.walagata.com/fax/...ex.php/Brawler

About your class: some abilities (rage, natural armor) would probably be better if you scaled them by level. It's a workable class and a really fun concept, though as you said it's a bit narrow for RPing. Could be great for NPCs though.
