I don't know, thinking about what feats a fighter-type has seems like a very fighterish sort of knowledge that I wouldn't expect V to have. To him/her. the horse was only as useful as its combat stats, and maybe the +1 bonus for higher ground. It took a General to see that the death knight probably had Spirited Charge.

Plus, it was nice to see the General isn't completely incompetent, anyway.
