Default Morning's Dawn of Eternal Night OOC (SiegeMaker)

    History: The Wrath of Stars
" Many had been their that day... the 18th of Erastus. The Battle of HavenGuard. It was that day, that changed all days to follow. A massive force of over 20,000 men and women had swelled into the city for the campaign, trippling the capitals very population, almost over night. A force never before seen mobilized, nor deployed within the walls of the city, or the boarders of Ustalav for that matter. The Swords of Adar, The Iron Crows of Rostland, even a massive force, of some mysterious chapter Numerian mercenaries, The Thousand Sons, rallied to the call of Caliphas. And yes... we too, The Eternal Order of Soividia stood at the fore. Prepared to shed our blood, and let our enemies know our fury...

Yet.... all was lost. Just as that man said it would. As if he was some tragic-seer. Some... forsaken god. An earth-bound immortal seized by the chains of his mortal cage. Tarin Kelgore. I shalt never forget that name. We mocked him. called him coward, for he refused to march with us to certain victory. For all the rumors of his arcane might, to be found a coward. We laughed.... yes...
We laughed.... as the first explosion rang out, the second balcony of HavenGuard's foyer collapsed, trapping us inside.
We laughed.... as that tainted smoke crept into our veins and made us mad...
We laughed, as brother killed brother, men ate men, and the halls of the mad house went slick with the blood of the maddened.
But then.... The Gorefiends came... they, and their dark masters... those, terrible... things.... Those wretched dark smoking figures. They spoke naught at all, if tongues they had. Dark claws of black charred bone as hands, faces pitch and bleak as a dark hollow. Faceless, lifeless, dreadful. Bolts of terrible shadow, and umbral magics long forgotten to the world tore through the ranks of the death-crazed who flayed their own brothers. The fiends crushed and tore through the asylum plaza like massive death-engines. Taller then a giant and wider then a ship, covered with terrible razor-spines. The Asylum collapsed....

Buried in rubble, I managed to escape. I found myself at Magister Kelgore's feet.... it was as if the fiends could not see us. But i saw them... by the gods, I saw them. Massive beats, like infernal horned giants walked under the pitch-globe of night that surrounded the place, blocking out even the light of the moon. The torches, showed them... dragging fist-fulls of gore, and writhing bodies into a pit. Some ungodly hole, or labyrinth that lay below the asylum. I looked to Kelgore, i asked him, again, and again, until he finally answered. Why? He looked down at me, with a face, a gaze, I cannot forget. "

" Their souls will gather the last light..."
I could not understand the man, I never could, or any man. Who was so wise to know the purpose of the cryptic words of this seer, this oracle, this madman. So I asked anew. Again he looked down upon me in silence, as if the answer was plain and simple. He bent down, and offered me a hand, lifting me from the rubble and gore.

" Dear sir.... as you.... or I...or any of those who've still eyes to see. As you shall see, and I have seen.... all is sundered, all is lost... beneath the wrath of stars."

    - Duke Olir Relnoir Haldan, "The Dauntless" - High-Lord Judge of The Eternal Order of Soividia

The Story Thus Far: The War of Eternal Night

Every man and women left standing, absent from the battle of HavenGuard watched the terrible beings emerge from the obliterated cliff-side remains of the HavenGuard asylum. Like massive elegant horned titans, they lifted their hands as one. A light erupted into the sky, the dark dismal shadow of a women, released into the gathering dark of night. They would be latter known as the Malebranche, the frightful infernal titans of the newly revived goddess Hensa.... and in tribute to her renewal. They celebrated... and called down the stars once more...

    Second StarFall

It was the quietest cataclysm ever to have graced Golarion.... The sky's black ebon surface warped and cracked as the horned titans lifted their hands to the heavens. The air wavered and quaked as their ungodly energies were released back into the world. Massive fiery constructs of molten burning light rained from the sky. They collided within the city with ear-bleeding cacophonous force. The air was lit afire, and a great cloud of crackling darkness, with thunder of crimson began to form over the city. It blacked out the world around it, as if the city was separated from existence, trapped in a pocket-universe of death and mayhem.

The massive burning stars shook, and quaked, as if coming to life. With tremulous force they exploded. The waves of indindiary clouds annihilating thousands of souls instantly. The pressure and heat lit the very air ablaze, burning innocents inside and out. the terrible creatures roared to life. Titans of flame and destruction. Ravaging the earth as much as the city, and life. The screams of the citizenry, cut short, as they were instantly set upon by the flames of its super-heated hazy aura. They belched flame and darkness, spawning more of the creatures. The scent of burning flesh maddening....

Then came the Gorefiends..... roiling out from the maze like holes dug beneath the cliff sides, and from the ruins of HavenGuard. They were like great Behemoths of the dead.... Leviathans of undeath and the un-living. They screamed, and lashed about. Their scales thrown wide, embedding into the earth, forming blackening pits where the soil was tainted. The dead rose again from this pits. Augmented, empowered by it's profane energies. The flaming dead, rose again, like burning pire's torment... hellish reflections of themselves in life. Whips of incandescent energies flooded from the risen dead, devoured by the Gorefiends. The very life energy, and soul-matter of their victims sustaining them. The fiends came in every size and shape. Massive behemoths that crawled across burning villas and manors. Terrible blazing hounds of steel like scaled flesh... The abominations were endless. It was an feast of the damned.... and the last we'd ever see of Caliphas...

    - Report from Wenri Lilin - Ranger of The Eternal Order of Soividia

The Eternal Order of Soividia: The Twenty Day War

The Order of Soividia, had never known defeat, had never retreated, had never known fear, or failure. Under the sword of Soividia Ustav himself had their order founded the country. Their sovereignty was unquestionable, as was their bravery. They created the front line base of 'Vitar', a fortified section just outside of Caliphas after Second StarFall. The brothers and sisters of The Order knew their posts. Vitar possessed a number of outlying posts surrounding the city in a semi-circle. not accounting for the cliff-side reaches naturally protected by the sea. Originally designed as guard and scout posts, it became their defensive 'net' to prevent further spread of the 'Death-Blight' that swarmed within 'The Maelstrom'. They had held out for ten days, under constant siege. The Maelstrom, as they called it, the massive super-storm of pitch bleakness seemed to contain the monstrous titans within it. It was a world within itself, as if it was a mobile dimension of death. The Death-Blight, was the cursed disease they had discovered while combating the undead horde. Suffering injury from the things, had the potential to curse you, while it could be treated, and other had high immunity. It could kill you, if left untreated, turning you into one of them... the cursed. They were not typical undead that attacked them. Many were unique. They had begun to invent names for some of the more common. 'Flame-blighted', 'Stalkers', ....'Dreadnoughts'.... that name made most men quiver in passing. The creatures were unnatural, and great in diversity and function. Some even appeared to possess some degree of intelligence. A dangerous prospect. Even still, they held out, with meager supplies, and a system of runners to maintain their stores of Batista ammunition and foodstuffs.

They fought for 20 days, fending off all manner of foul beasts to come screaming out of the bleak vortex-like-void.... and they had hope. Hope that the time could be turned. They could outlast... this was not the end...this was not the end... The storm began its approach. It... moved. Like a great cyclonic rift through the plane... Half of their positions, lost in an instant. The commander issued the order. 'Full Retreat'

They ran, the storm continued its hungry advance. Scattered and panicked, a handful managed to make it to The Hold. The Order's headquarters in an old reclaimed fortress outside of the city of Ardis. The ragged remains of their forces gathered, the last of the scouts began to report in. Ustalav had been lost... The Maelstrom had consumed most of the country, and was only growing by the day. A minor victory had been reported of a Gorefiend being slain, and pushing back the whipping walls of death that encroached upon them... a fated sign that perhaps they could retake the country... reclaim their homeland. But that time was not now... They were tired, bloodied and crippled. They needed to flee, and gather their strength. The Death-blighted had already flooded the country, blocking off most of their suitable escape routes. Then..everything changed... a Royal Guard, last to return to The Hold, came baring one other. A child. Reina Sinesa Caliphaso II. The last living royal of Ustalav. In that moment, not all was lost.... The Sovereign claim of their people and nation was still alive! They knew what had to be done. The Maelstrom may not be able to be stopped with the forces they had at hand, but their future could be assured, and it would be... by any means. And so the last warrior of The Eternal Order of Soividia rode hard for the forsaken depths of Gallowspire.

The Eternal Order of Soividia: Dawn of Eternal Night

The endless hordes of the Death-Cursed pursued them. The terrible gales of the massive black vortex-winds of the Maelstrom blotted out the horizon with visions of flame, and crimson bolts of lightning and the un-ending tide of corpses. Harder they rode, every day, another risk. Men died fighting, spending their lives to provide the time they needed to wisk the child to safety. Cursed Gallowspire... once The Whispering Tyrant's prison, now their gambit for escape.... The Gallowspire Prison possessed a secret series of tunnels that would lead them out into the Hungry Mountains, and beyond. Free from the coming Scourge. From their, it was only a matter of reasserting the child's ancient and royal claim upon whatever territories within the central Inner Sea they required to rebuild their forces. IT was a race for time, and a race they were not winning.... a quarter of their men did not make it to the prison gates, but their sacrifices ensured their future.

The Captain kicked open the gates, pushing his Guard and the child inside with his knights, before locking the black rusted gate as the wretched blackened hands of the dead came hammering into the steel-barred wall. It held true against the onslaught. They were almost their... he knew it. It had been a very long time. But he still remembered the route. He turned to his men, and instructed them of the written directions he carried upon his person of the escape plan in the event he was slain. The princess must survive, regardless of their fate.

They stormed through the prison, strange and haunted things came to greet them, but with haste, and quick sword-work they cut their way through, finding a hidden wall within the Warden's office, leading to a wide rickety platform, which operated a manual elevator, which required one man to remain, and crank the old rusted thing. Without second though, The Captain volunteered. He handed the document to the princess detailing their escape. Then begun lowering the last of his men down the old dark shaft, long forgotten for centuries... He smiled as they began to fade from the light of his torch.... 'Farew-'

His works were cut short, as the GallowSpire prison exploded. The Maelstrom colliding with the structure, just long enough for a Gorefiend to release itself from it's abyssal chains. The Explosion tore the structure from it's very foundations... The behemoth annihilated the spire, waves of Death-Cursed flooding into sight as the last of The Order fell into darkness. the deepest depths of The Black Gallows.
