    Default Super-specialists: buzz-wha?

Okay, I'm starting the campaign soon, as a conjurer, going in to Wild mage at 5th level.

Now, because I (and my character) like conjuring things, I was just wondering what this super-specialist thing people keep talking about it. I'm intrigued.

Oh, and please, please, please: nobody come in and say super-specializing is stupid 'cause of a lack of versatality. Okay, maybe it is. However, I want to know what it is, I'm not interested in the great debate of whether wizards are best as logic ninjas. I, personally, think that optimizing is overrated, and takes away the fun of the game. However, that's not what this thread is about.

From what I have read from the other threads, I think they are referring to Red Wizards from the DMG. They have to give up another school in order for additional power in their specialized school. Not a bad class but not as good as say, a master specialist, especially for abjurers because it gives Skill Focus (spellcraft) for free which is the only drawback to IotSV because it's waste of a feat.

Red Wizards get Circle Magic though, which is still good. A lot of the other PRC's are also inclined towards a specific school. Like Mind Bender is perfect for Enchanters of the Social Proficiency variant from UA.

i dont know about "official" super spec'd. but i have a house ruled one where you just focus entirely in one school and get 2 extra slots and +2 DC, but cannot cast anything else

Master Specialist, Complete Mage pg 70 would be my guess.

Focused Specialist feat is my guess - lose another school and a general spell of each level for TWO bonus spells of your chosen school. Net gain: 1 spell of every level you can cast, but tightly restricted. Me likey for flavour and effectiveness.

I'd presume they might also be talking about the extra specialization option from the...Complete Mage I think? I'm away from books but it's along the lines of a third banned school, and one fewer regular spell per day, but two additional bonus school spells. that might not be right.

edit: simued. as they said above is correct.
