    Default A dm ide

    Nice title, eh?

If it doesn't make sense, skip the thread.

Those who know... is there some software out there that can basically act as an IDE for role-playing campaigns?
Like, the whole shebang - autocomplete, macros/snippets, scope-awareness, UML, extensive hotkey support and all the other nice things we're used to having in these wonderful pieces of software.

Bear in mind I am very short on cash.
So Realm Works is way out of my league. At least for the next couple of months.

Edit: Bloody hell, why does the forum mangle my thread's title.

As a python enthusiast, I could try to cook one up myself.

I too am a python enthusiast, just not experienced.

But when I create complex characters, I usually write their attack routine calculators in py.

However... either python has incredibly good libraries, or you're really enthusiastic. Cuz you know... writing an custom IDE is usually not a trivial matter.

But I'd be willing to help.
If you're experienced and can stand a newbie(at python), page me and I will answer.
I could use some a lot practice.

There are actually many free options that mostly meet your requirements. I've used macros in MapTools to handle attacks of npcs and monsters even when the game was played on a physical board, and I use a desktop wiki(Zim, but there are others) to keep campaign notes.

If that's not enough and you do go on with making your own ide, I would like to try to help too if it's open sourced on github or something. I would mark myself as more than a newbie and less than an expert with python.

This may actually very well be precisely what I need.
    Especially zim.
