Default Pale's Filigree 5e Character Sheets.

These character sheets are a long-running project of mine. Upon the release of Fifth Edition D&D, I found the character sheets in the PHB ugly and plain. Thus, I began the development of a more interesting three-page set of filigreed character documentation. Initially, I presented them to my local D&D group, and later brought them to the Playground for further development. Now, thanks to all the constructive input I've received, the sheets are in a state of full release.

Disclaimer: These sheets are filled with greebling, iconography, and filigree. Thus, they may not satisfy those players who prefer spartan, purely practical character sheets.

Disclaimer II: These sheets are not friendly to old or low-end printers. For best results, set your printer to the 'Photo: Best' or equivalent setting.

I'll update these sheets whenever I think of a major improvement.

MK.VII Filigree Contains character stats and skills, equipment and belongings, and spellslots and combat resources. Updated 4/13/15

MK.VII Filigree, fillable PDF version. This version has check boxes, a weight calculator, and, of course, fillable fields. Updated 4/13/15

If you use these sheets, please give me feedback so I can improve them!

Sure, the things that I would want would be -

    Homeland
    Diety/Power
    Faction
    Bloodline (Birthright campaign setting)
    Subrace
    Psionic Powers (if applicable)
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...Sbg/edit?pli=1
    Honor (Oriental Adventures/Kara-Tur)
    Inspiration Dice.

I always thought spell slots you could check off would be cool, and maybe something similar for feats and per rests. what program do you make the sheet on? I wouldn't mind trying my hand at it.

I'm hand drawing the sheets in Sketchbook Pro.
Also, I'm loving the idea of slots for homeland, subrace, and per-rests powers.

This post may or may not be useful for you, but what I want in a character sheet is that all the mechanical aspect of the character fit on 1 page. Verso should be consumables/equipments and/or spell manager of some sort. More than that is too much at the table, with the possible exception of some kind of spell reference document and a pad for notes, messages and what not.

As a player, I wouldn't mind having a third or fourth page as long as the DM is ok with that third page staying in my bag during the game. The third page should work as a reference you consult a few minutes before the game and then put aside.

In terms of stucture, I've got things set up with stats on the first sheet (as Laurefindel mentioned,) equipment on the next, and combat and spells on the last. I'll try and upload a WIP version as soon as I fill in the rest of the final sheet.

A spell point variant blurb that tells you the rules for spell points would be awesome. But I hate vancian casting so I'm biased.

I would love to have class/subclass specific character sheets with spell point system.
Overhaul Rules (I would like to see placed into D&D)
9 Damage Types: Acid, Bludgeoning, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Necrotic, Piercing, Radiant, and Slashing

A list of important page numbers in the PHB. Referencing the book during gameplay is a pain, so I usually write them down on my sheet.

Important page numbers I currently have on my sheet:

    Human
    Fighter
    Urchin
    Armor
    Weapon
    Feat
    Equipment

Eta If I was making a sheet, I'd probably do this:

    Race page ___
    Class page ___
    Background page ___
    Armor page 145
    Weapon page 149
    Equipment page 150
    Tools page 154

I use the Basic Rules sheet but it is not perfect. Some upgrades to consider for your own:

    Basic Rules Sheet page 1
    • AC with shield
    • Max Hit Dice and Hit Dice remaining
    • Room for Saving Throw or Skill conditionals
    • Subrace, Subclass and Sub-background
    • A separate Languages entry

Basic Rules Sheet page 2 [I actually don't bother with this one normally]
    • A brief family tree or family list entry
    • Contacts
    • Quest notes
    • Skin, Eye, Hair, Teeth, Build, or just a physical description space.

Basic Rules Sheet page 3. I think the provided sheet is okay for Wizards. Otherwise:
    • All: Concentration spell signifier
    • Wizards: Spells per day, Arcane Tradition, School spell signifier
    • Bards, Arcane Tricksters, Eldritch Knights, Rangers: Spells known entry
    • Paladins, Druids: Spells per day, entire spell list to choose from.
    • Clerics: Spells per day, entire spell list to choose from, Domain spells, Domain
    • Sorcerers: Spells known, Sorcery points, SP conversion chart, metamagic details
    • Warlocks: Spells known, Invocations (with spell slot indicator), Slot level, Spell slots, Mystic Arcanum

    Also:
Druid beast shapes sheet with Beast HP, uses left, forms available.

    A space for feats.

More room for equipment-- The standard sheet has just enough for standard starting equipment, and then only if you don't expand out the contents of any of the standard packs.

Ways to distinguish between spells from various sources-- A character might have spellcasting from race, class, or any of three feats, at a minimum, and some of those don't use spell slots.

A way to account for non-spell-slot consumable class resources, like ki points or sorcery points.

An explanation for what the different parts of the sheet are supposed to mean. I'm still not sure what the "symbol" block on page 2 of the standard sheet is.

And this last might be too difficult to code in, but dynamically-resizable fields. Some folks will have more detail in some fields than others, and some fields are completely irrelevant for some characters.
Time travels in divers paces with divers persons.

Reference pages for chapters and common rolls/calculations. The nWoD sheets do that, and it's really helpful.
There was something here and in the avatar box, and there will eventually be again. I just need to figure out what I want...

Here's the first sheet, peeps. Its hand-drawn, mainly, excepting the text and some clip-art which I was too lazy to make from scratch. Also, there are some random grey lines in the black parts of the sheet. . . I'll have to fix that. They hopefully won't show up when printed.

Well I think they look fantastic and will give them a try.

My only (very slight) complaint is we're used to seeing the physical stats at the top of the sheet which for someone used to reading right-to-left should have them on the right side of the character sheet.

Ah, I see what you mean, there. I actually have no idea why I arrayed the ability scores like this. Then again, I'd only be able to put one set of scores on top if the 'points' of the central wheel where on the top and bottom.

Wow, awesome sheets! The one thing I don't love is the 4th level spells. I would much rather have 0-4 on the left and 5-9 on the right. the 4th level spells on the bottom looks awkward and out of place. Also reversing the "total" and "expended" placement makes it less user friendly.
