I was talking about creating new species of true dragons which are actually relatively simple since unlike the rest of the monsters in 3.5 they actually show some consistent math in their design (ability scores are semi consistent, each dragon's SR is n + CR, HD is 3xAge Category + n, Nat Armor is HD - 1).

I'll agree that dragons deserve their own thread, but they do happen to be the most complicated monsters to build in my opinion.

I figured he was just going to assign existing True Dragons to us. I'd probably end up a battle dragon.

EDIT: If I do become a dragon, this should be my breath weapon.

Since there are lots of different kinds of true dragons (metallic, chromatic, ferrous, etc), I always wondered what a lanthanide series of dragons would be like.

You dance about, your blade flashing and flowing with neon colored light. As you weave this light it draws in the minds of onlookers pulling them in only to shatter them.
When you initiate this maneuver your weapon begins to glow with a strange light, weaving it about you fascinate opponents. You produce bright illumination in your square when you initiate this maneuver and are visible from up to 300-ft of darkness; this light only lasts during your turn. Any creature other than yourself within the area which can see must make a Will save (17 + Cha^3.5 or Initiation Modifier^PF) or be confused for 1 minute. Creatures in bright illumination gain a +4 on their saves, those in shadowy suffer a -2 penalty. Total magical darkness blocks this effect. This is a supernatural, mind-affecting maneuver.

I forgot I'd reduced the area from 30-ft to 15-ft, but a 7th level maneuver should not be an AoE version of an 8th level single target spell.

One minute of confusion without ongoing saves is pretty brutal. Also, Otto's is an 8th-level spell, so it probably shouldn't be a 7th-level maneuver

Two other things: there should be some rule for people who are exposed to the effect after it begins, and it should be specified that targets who have already failed a save don't have to make any other saves (otherwise they'd keep making saves against it for the full 1-minute duration, then be confused for one minute after their last failed save).

Standard wording for effects like this is that Duration indicates how long an affected creature is affected, see Blistering Flourish (i.e. it doesn't mention creatures entering the effect because like the confusion spell it's creatures in the area when it's activated). Though I should have noted how long the light lasts.

I will also note that Confusion doesn't allow ongoing saves, and yes it is brutal... should also have had [Mind-affecting, Compulsion] tags. The latter is a little weird on non-spells but it occurs on occasion... I think.

Yeah, um... Not quite sure how to put this, but...

In Path of War there are currently two ways to add a discipline to your list without getting into archetypes or prestige classes.

You can use the trait Unorthodox Method, which allows you to trade one discipline on your class discipline list for any other discipline (and trading the associated discipline skills as well). Or you can use a Martial Tradition, which is an organization you join and swear an oath to. Each discipline has an associated Martial Tradition and some small side benefits for joining.

Sounds like we need to start brainstorming the Sandbox Goliath tradition then.

So we've got the Vampiric Paladin, the *horrible conglomeration of templates* psycho, the straight tiefling, the dragonborn initiator, and the Half-celestial Celestial-blessed Saint Monk.

Let's not forget the Half-Fey Half-Elf Bard.

It's like if Belkar stated that he didn't kill someone. On anyone else it'd be a straight check for Roy but he would get a bonus to his Sense Motive because Belkar not killing someone is out of character.

Also, you're level 4. You don't have that kind of modifier. I also happen to know the modifiers don't apply and that you don't put ranks into Sense Motive.
