This sudden lost of control from the HPoH is troubling, to say the least. What does he need that resurrection spell for so badly? Or what if it's not the resurrection spell, but a cleric who's strong enough to cast other spells of the same level?

Also, that end-stage emphysema comment made me start giggling at my desk, so thanks.

Hilgya would be an interesting choice for the powerful cleric. Seeing her deal with her possible allegiance with Hel's priest and her previous experiences with Durkon could be pretty great.

Looks like he's still not doing so well with breathing. And not able to disguise his voice yet. Or act in ways Durkon would. Hopefully Roy will start to suspect if this keeps happening.

I figured he was trying to get the priest to intimate that he should go see the High Priest of Odin, so he could give Roy a reason to bring him back to the Dwarven Lands. But they'd know he was a vampire and he'd get stomped, so that doesn't fully follow. Now it seems he's looking for someone who was already here in Tinkertown...

Is it someone we actually know? I would think it would have to be, else the newly created HPoH wouldn't know about them. Probably. Maybe Hel tipped him off.

Sounds like he's looking for a mole/double-agent or something. Maybe one of the other evil gods has a contact here he's hoping to meet with?

And yet, having Roy along whenever he meets with such a person would be dangerous...

It would also explain why our gnome friend that maybe picked up on all his hinting is new to the whole "blindfolded" thing.

I wonder what this is about. I guess HPoH knows from Hel that someone's in town. Maybe some priest of Loki but why wouldn't the priest of Hoder not say it?

Durkula could sneak off and talk to the contact (if the contact even exists), but that's also risky. He probably only repeated "I know you know" for emphasis, however.

Either he looks for an ally or he wishes to make one.
Well I'm sure he could find a way to get Roy to leave.

The Gnome priestess is hopefully what she seems to be. A nice, newly initiated servant of her god.

The repeated "I know you know" is for emphasis. It shows he reacts strongly on this matter.

It certainly seems that there is a big shake up with the Northern gods a brewin'.
I have been enjoying seeing the other gods and their followers fleshed out a little. And the flashback with Durkon's mom reminiscing about the dwarven clerics not having enough power, "At least these days", indicates to me that we are going to learn something about the Northern gods that HPoH will play a part.
I can't think of any other web-comic or DnD themed comic that creates this level of anticipation!

I mean, it frequently works better story-wise if an existing character fills a mystery role rather than someone suddenly introduced. It can be done very well with a new introduction, too, of course.

So, with that in mind, Hilgya returning suddenly looks a lot more plausible. She's known to both Durkon and to the readers, she's the cleric of an evil god, and her being in the vicinity of the dwarven lands isn't particularly impossible.

Note that I'm not saying any of this is certain. It doesn't need to be Hilgya, or even a character we've already been introduced to, to make a good story here. But I think the possibility of Hilgya returning just went up considerably -- like, say, from about 1% to perhaps 50%.

HPoH has knowledge, presumably from Hel.
Priest of Hoder also knows something but doesn't want to say.
Therefore: high level cleric is in town, of an alignment or sect of which Hoder does not approve. And HPoH wants an excuse to find this person without tipping Roy off.

Hatless gnomes are less adorable but still do pratfalls with great cuteness.

Does it?
He has been to every temple and been told that no one knows anything that he wanted to find out - so he demands that someone has to know (perhaps backed up by sense motive), the alternative is that he just wasted a full day (or some reasonable part thereof).

He might have someone specific in mind - communing with Hel to confirm his actions could mean that he knew that a specific someone was in town and that they would have visited that specific temple - but it is not a given.

Could it be the theory i have heard around here that the HPoH wants Roy to be aware of Odin´s clerics being capable of resurrecting?
