eek OOTS #449 - The Discussion Thread (Part 2)

There's some sort of glitch with the first discussion thread, continue discussion here.

The Voice of Mod: And responding to every single post in the thread with a single "Yeah! I agree" type comment is SPAM. Stop it.

I did NOT see that coming. Xykon could cast Raise Dead. Maybe it would even work, assuming the throne room permits spells of such evil to be cast. But that's going to be the last thing he does before the spirits roll right over him.

    Best case:

... I REALLY have to go now.

    Worst case:

    OMGBBQ?

PS: Hey, Redcloak, Thor Angels? Rich is gonna do exactly what he feels like in this campaign, no matter what any of your rulebooks say. Maybe Xykon has the right idea when he prefers to do the more dramatic attack? Just a thought.

There are at least 50 of them.
So it's not just the 41 plus Soon. (Hence the "reinforcements".)
And we just can't see how many there are -- it seems like there are many more than are visible on the screen.

Oh man, I'm so happy, that's the comic I've been waiting for for two weeks.

There is no way Xykon is getting out of this one, Soon Kim is an Epic Level character, not to mention the 43 bajillion, yes, exactly 43 bajillion, ghosts with him.

I love it so much I want to do things to it best not described here.

This new strip is at least 10 kinds of awesome. Shall I enumerate?

I have to say, I was really starting to get upset with the continued victory of the evil forces during the battle.

This comic had me laughing out loud.

Counting Soon I think I can see at least 50 ghosts there, including both of the cloaked ones. Hopefully some of the older ghosts will be of high enough level to give Xykon a challenge.

I wonder if the problem with the first thread wasn't simply volume overload.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Xykon is just so screwed; he's now facing a horde of unkillable opponents, all with the ability to harm him (TK, Smite Evil, etc), and he can't stop all of them with anything he might have in his arsenal. He may be able to control a few of them but he certainly can't stop them all.

I think a strategic retreat is in order for him, if he gets the time to do it that is. If he doesn't have a Teleport spell ready he may not even get out of the room. Looks like he'll be talking to Redcloak out of that phylactery real soon...

Can honestly say I didn't expect Soon Kim to make a personal appearance!
I'm out of my D&D knowledge so I've no idea what martyred ghosts can do, other than obviously look impressive.
Reminds me of the old Dungeon and Dragons cartoon episode "the hall of bones" where the ghosts of past warriors rise up to defend their hall from Venger. Ends up with their permanent departure, Vengers temporary vanquish and the halls destruction.
So it looks like Xykon is soon to be back as Redcloaks necklace and kiss goodbye to one more gate.

For all of the people saying that Xykon can just cast Command Undead, who the heck says these guys are Undead? From what it looks like to me, it appears these guys are Risen Martyrs (Book of Exalted Deeds, pg 68), or something close to it.

Regardless, I seriously doubt that they are Undead. Instead I would guess that they are Deathless, and, as such are immune to spells like Command/Control Undead. In fact they would be the polar opposite of Undead in everyway shape and form (being powered by Positive Energy, being healed by Disrupt Undead, etc).

If these are Deathless characters, Xykon is seriously, seriously screwed.

[BTW, you can find the Stat Crunchiness for Deathless on pg 157-158 in the aforementioned Book of Exalted Deeds.]
