Mat is unable to gather his footing after breaking the banister and falls straight onto the ground. He doesn't hit the ground hard, but the surprise of breaking the wood, while failing miserably to be sneaky throws Mat off his game. Taking a second to deal with his failings, he then begins to lift himself off the ground, when he sees two pairs of black leather boots in front of him. As he looks up from the boots, he see's two city guards standing above him. Both the men are in half-plate armor, with a long sword at each ones side.

The guard on the left says, "Aye, had a wee bit too much this evening have you?" The second guard laughs as he offers you a hand to help you up with.

What was that place? How can I turn in something to the Innkeeper of a destroyed shack? Who is Gregor, and what is his Tome of Obedience?

Mat just wants to find his way home and sleep.

Mat wakes and does his morning routine, donning a clean shirt, trying his best to brush his messy hair, and scrubbing his teeth with salt and soda.

Pulling out his spellbook, Mat works on his spells for the day before heading downstairs for a quick bite. He hopes to get to the Arcanamirium to chat with Vox before his appointment time to decipher those texts.

Business is as usual downstairs. You're greeted by Mistress Oppara, whom serves potatoes and a biscuit for breakfast. Getting in late last night caused you to sleep a little longer, so you figure you should head out to the Arcanamirium soon.

Walking through the city seems a bit colder today, as the season ebbs and flows. Your jacket does well to keep you warm.

As you approach the Arcanamirium, you see there are many people flooding into the gates. Vox is not in the front where you saw him before.

Mathwin walks up to the dueling fields and sees Vox inside a magically induced field, dueling a tall black haired female. They are dueling quite ferociously!

As Mathwin gets a better view of the duel, he sees that the arena has been altered, so that it is raining heavily inside, which changes the fight significantly. He female seems to be throwing daggers made out of ice, while Vox blocks with a magical shield he has conjured. He then whips a quick flip of the wand towards the female, and a large web entangles the female. As Vox prepares his next attack, the witch lets out a high pitched scream, which even causes Mat’s ears to ring a little bit. Vox seems to take the full brunt of the attack, but quickly fire a beam straight towards the female, who is unable to dodge, and falls limp in her web.

The crowd cheers as Vox is named the winner, and the arena fades, both the wounds on the opponents fade as well. The female regains consciousness, and they shake hands, as she is taken away by her companions. Vox is congratulated, and see’s you near. He waves, saying, “Enjoy the show?”

"Absolutely! Well fought, lad! And the weather was a nice effect. What were the stakes? And what spell did you use to knock her out after 'Web'?" Mat tries to curb his enthusiasm, but can't. He just loves the duel.

Trying to calm himself, Mat asks Vox about how his classes are going, if Loto has been stirring up any more trouble, and tries to casually ask about "Gregor’s Tome of Obedience".

Enjoying your child like excitement, he describes his mindset during the fight, describing how the witch tried to daze him with her scream, but he was able to use a scorching ray. He knew the rain was just an illusion cast by the witch, so his spell had no worry of faltering. Being a student of the Arcanamirium, students must duel as part of their study, so this was simply a practice round, so entice new students and practice his skills.

When questioning Vox about the rest of the his questions, Vox responds, "No, I haven't seen Loto since his father kicked him out of the school. Apparently he had been caught bullying before, and his father made the decision. And that book? No, I haven't heard of it." A bell rings from the main building, and Vox looks at you, saying "I have to run, but as always, it was nice to see you!"

Mat knows that that bell means it's high sun, which means Mat needs to run to make it to his interview on time!

Mat runs to the main hall, looking much like he used to when late for class. Asking an nearby attendant, he is routed to the proper hall.

Upon entering, her see's 4 other men reading a scroll at different tables. A man approaches with a journal, and asks for your guild paperwork. As you hand him, the contract you signed, he looks it over and brings you to a empty table. He places a scroll and feather with ink that looks like the other documents in front of everyone else and says, "You have one hour to complete the test."

As he walks away, you look at the parchment and see it is blank on both sides..

Casting his spell, Mathwin is able to see that the scroll in front of him has an dinivation aura around it. Much of the scroll is covered in one aura, so Mathwin is able to assume that the spell is probably covering most of the scroll.

Mathwin is able to tell that that this is a glyph spell. Typically, Mathwin has seen Glyphs used to attack people, or lay traps, but he has heard of wizards tinkering with the spell. There was talk that certain lower level spells could be placed in a glyph, so that when a target read it, instead of being blown to pieces, he would gain the use of the hidden spell. Certainly the wizards of the school wouldn't have brought him here to hurt him, right? He then looks around and see's that the other men in the room are writing feverously.

As Mathwin says the words, the scroll slightly flashes, then the magic fades away from the scroll. Mat does not feel any different. Looking around to see what all the fuss is about, he turns his head towards the wall, and see's writing on one of the boards that was not there before! There must have been a glyph of "see invisibility" on the scroll! Mat thinks!

As Mat sees the words fade into existence, he reads: "Copy these words down exactly on you page;" Then there seems to be a short essay regarding the ancient Azlanti and tells the story of how magic was brought into existence. There is a lot of text, so you begin copying the essay on your scroll.
