    Hooray for Multitasking!

I have to wonder if Roy's scarf might come into play, given that his opponent has a thing for exposed necks.

    Go Roy!

Man, this is really getting awesome. And I love how the gods are totally oblivious to the whole thing. (Although I do suspect that Odin has at least an inkling of what's going on... the High Priest of Odin looked more pensive than surprised, and since Odin's whole shtick is being all-seeing, I'd be surprised if he didn't have some way of looking in on the Godsmoot).

But yeah. Loving the beginning of the Roy/Durkula fight. Can't wait to see where it goes next.

Isn't Roy's sword supposed to glow green around undead though?

Awesome. Durkon did say Roy had a good Will save.

And a great call back to On the Origin of PC's by HPoH to try and convince Roy that he's really Durkon.

If Durkula thinks Roy ALWAYS tries to talk first, he didn't see many of Roy + Durkon fights. This is awesome.

So epic!!! I like how HpoH's first instinct is to avoid the battle altogether, even if he thinks he can take him. And I like how the last hit is the first one that damages him. This is amazing!!!

Oh no - not the Will Save! The classic Achilles Heel of fighters across the world. Thankfully Roy is less a fighter and more of a well-rounded generalist who can hit stuff really well.

I absolutely love Lokis line in this one! xD

I can imagine the god of tricksters would have taken advantage of such a rule on multiple occasions, so it's quite fun to see it used against him.

Also - while it's good to see that Roy appears to be capable of keeping up with Durkon in a fight, it seems like his bonus damage against undead still isn't quite enough to make up for the difference in levels. I may be wrong here, but it looks like he's not dealing a lot of damage - which is quite important if he wants to kill Durkula before the voting is over.

Really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Herm... Roy's sword isn't glowing, flaming or, seemingly, hurting HPoH right now though. This worries me as those sound effects don't imply cutting

Interesting move by HPoH to try dominating Roy first, I was expecting something more destructive/violent as a first move.

People have remarked that The Giant has long since departed from D&D rules for combat and such, but it's a strip like this that makes me really disagree with that. The Giant does a great job at telling a story through the medium of D&D, and this is exactly the difference between Belkar with his established low Wisdom fighting a Domination effect versus Roy with his established mental clarity. Show, don't tell, and very well done.

This - also it is less "glow in the presence of undead" and more "when it glows, undead are in for a lot of pain" ;)

    Woot, already, wow.

So, gods don't really care about what's happening here, some of Roy hits don't affect HPoH at all (since Belkar managed to get through this DR this must be really low hits).

    No starmetal effect yet :(

Except they only need to instruct their Clerics to leave the chamber to null their vote, which would have the same impact.

It's not a particularly interesting question though, so I'd hope it doesn't attract much attention. The Gods can only back down, change their minds, make applicable changes not follow through or cancel their decision if Roy kills Durkon here (or something else that crops up later). Why doesn't especially interest me.

Nice start to the fight. Roy had the initiative and used it well, durkula went for the easy win with a dominate which cost him when roy made the will save. So thats two attacks on roys part to one failed spell on durkulas. I doubt it will last that long though, durkula is going to start going for damage soon, and fighting a buffed up cleric is hard enough, a buffed up cleric with a vampire template is probably way harder.
