Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't been a spell like this before.
Is it overpowered? Underpowered? Any other comments/complaints/questions?Last edited by Lord Iames Osari; 2007-05-12 at 03:30 PM.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
Well, that only gives a flat bonus. Any Drow or Illithid (to name just a few) capable of casting it will get minimal to no benefit from it.

Point taken.
However, that also makes Iames's spell more powerful...
O.o
Wait...
They wouldn't stack... would they?

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
Yes, but if you had a character cast both at once, they'd practically be invulnerable to spells.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
I forgot to say what the focus component was!
And, I'm changing it to a material component.

One tiny, itsy-bitsy, miniscule little problem.. Magic/Psionics Transparency.

>.<
No, wait. We can fix this. We have the technology!
We give the espers an Assay SR equivalent.
Anyway, here's an updated version based on criticism from another site and my review of the Assay SR spell.
Augment Resistance
Abjuration
Level: Clr 4, Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 minute/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
You increase the target's existing resistance to magic, granting an enhancement bonus to their SR equal to your caster level (maximum +10); creatures without SR are treated as having SR 0.
Arcane Material Component: A piece of sponge.Last edited by Lord Iames Osari; 2007-05-12 at 05:52 PM.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
I meant it to apply even to SR from artifical sources. I changed the wording to make that clearer.

Veni, vidi, offensi. Any more comments on the latest version?
Oh, and for psionic types:
Appraise Power Resistance
Clairsentience
Level: Psion/wilder 4
Display: Visual
Power Points: 7
As assay spell resistance, except as noted here.

Bump the spell level up to at least level 5 or people will stick it in wands and potions and stuff.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
No, it's definitely staying at lvl 4, to stay even with assay SR.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
*Level 20 cleric with 46 SR bows* (CL 24, bead of karma)
*Wizard goes... wtf?!*
Wizard assays resistance, with all CL vs SR boosting feats, and arcane mastery, and a UMD'd bead of Karma. Gets... 48.
When a wizard has to burn 4 feats, and a 1/day object, to get a spell in... nope, it's now better balanced. When it capped at +20, that was borked.Last edited by Arbitrarity; 2007-05-14 at 05:11 PM.

Re: Your Puny Spells Are Nothing to me, Wizard! [Spell]
Hmm. After considering it carefully, I would recommend that anyone planning on using this also make CL vs. SR checks subject to the auto-fail/auto-success rule.
