I have no idea about the rules of 4e, but reasonably it has to come from somewhere.

I thought that line about seeing where they teleported to was absolutely hilarious. Then I read the next panel. 4th edition is so lame. :|

I don't know about you but when I teleport I know I want to go 10 feet...wait that isn't it, I want to go more than 10 feet.

Yeah, that seems a bit lame making teleport so difficult to use. Though at least we can imagine a wizard climbing a tree to get line of sight further away.

And now we know why wizards always live in really tall towers. But seriously, teleport is a long-distance travel spell. Making it line-of-sight is ridiculous. It's like giving magic missile a miss chance or something, completely ruins the purpose of the thing.

4e teleport mechanics are, I believe, largely a reaction against the "teleport to the next country in one action" ability of 3.5e. 4e teleport abilities that take only a single action to use are all (as far as I know) short range so that they have tactical uses in combat but cannot easily be used in most cases to outright end combat by instantly escaping beyond any reasonable pursuit. There are ways to teleport extremely long distances, but they are specifically designed to not be practical in combat, such as by requiring a 10 minute ritual.

There have been some hints that something happened recently that allows breaking the rules in some way, and that Ardon is responsible. It's what made Dire's dumbie plague (and the resulting permanently-increase-intelligence potion) possible. I'm guessing his teleport in this scene is another result of that.

Wild guess, the rules-breaking effect is enabling access in some strange way to 3.5e rules and mechanics. Dire might have learned to cast 3.5e Teleport.

Considering the authors 5e projects, it is more likely that 5e would be the inspiration, if you'd use inspiration from any other D&D game at all.

    'I'm almost done my sandwich'.
Shouldn't that be 'I'm almost done with my sandwich' or I'm almost done eating my sandwich' ?

What do I know? It could be South Crossing-ese.

It could be a Canadian thing... where I'm from we have a lot of Canadian phrases and words worked into our normal vocabulary (like tuque,) and I've always heard "I'm almost done my <insert food here>."

Thanks for the enlightenment. I speak an awkward dialect English and sometimes have issues with plainer speech.

For me, it sounds awkward and ungrammatical because it's missing the word "with" before "my sandwich".

Being able to figure out what a sentence means based on context isn't the same as it having proper structure.

The point is that I'd be doing it "with the sandwich". I wouldn't be doing it "the sandwich".

"I'm almost done" is proper English though. "I'm almost done my game" is not because it's missing a word.

I guess none of this matters. I was just agreeing with Douglas and stsasser that it sounds strange to me as well.

"I'm almost done" is a complete sentence on its own. Jamming a noun phrase onto the end of it is not proper grammar. To be properly grammatical, the noun phrase needs to be a prepositional phrase instead.

"I'm almost done my video game" is incorrect grammar.
"I'm almost done with my video game" is correct grammar.
"I have done my video game" is also correct grammar, because "done" is being used as a verb rather than an adjective, making "my video game" the object in the subject-verb-object structure of the verb phrase and thus an integral part of the sentence.

From now on dramatic multi-page updates will be based around colloquial grammar use rather than villain reveals and character deaths. I now know what REALLY puts the readers on the edge of their seats.
