I don't know anything about 4e (or anything else really) but I believe the implication is that he's possessed.

It's not a 4th edition thing at all. I think the same teeth were shown by Torrin. Characters possessed by soul eating spirits develop this trait.

Sorry about the double post, but this whole arc just reminded me of what annoys me most about Ardon. He demands loyalty and complete obedience, but then doesn't actually reward or even appreciate it when he gets that. All the points the others made about Tuvi are correct, sure, but did she ever once complain about, argue against, or disobey Ardon's orders? That was why he has issues with the current party but hates the party member that shows none of that?

To be fair to Ardon, I'm pretty sure he hates her because she's annoyingly bubbly and moronic. She ruins his plans more than anyone, although it's not intentional. It's not the loyalty and obedience that he has a problem with.

Ardon specifically wants her to die, and is getting very annoyed at her failure to do so.

...Ardon basically just flat out stated that they wanted to murder Tuvi and Peanut admitted to purposefully leaving her to get beat up (but apparently did not expect her to die) right in front of a paladin. I really hope El does something soon. She is at least trying to keep Ardon from randomly murdering Tuvi to get out of paying her (though let's be honest, even if she pays severence there is probably a 50-50 chance Ardon still kills Tuvi to take El's money) but she seems to be ignoring way too much as a paladin.

Paladins in this setting aren't necessarily good. They're more like "people who follow their ideals very strongly." In El's case, I guess it's taking care of her party and those close to her.

I do agree that she should have reacted a lot more to this though. This is the first time I can remember Ardon has openly admitted that he was planning to murder an innocent in front of her. He's normally much more subtle.

Yea but Ardon also pretty much admitted to trying to have a party member get killed right in front of her. Letting that stand should also be against her ideal.

- She leveled. Several times and now wants to fight things her own level without being held back by a large party to babysit.
- She noticed that her party tried to get her killed, and is going to rub it in by telling them what they did wrong.
- She was an agent of someone else to investigate the party for something Ardon did, but she couldn't find proof and believes them innocent now.
- She inherited Groffnar s shop and will fire 52 next comic.

So, 52 quits. Do we dare speculate why?

My main idea revolves around the reason he joined in the first place: he has long waited for Ardons comeuppance, and nothing happened yet, despite having a paladin in the party. He may know / suspect about Groffnar and/or Odivallus.

There is also the idea that he has levelled enough to be a full time Shop keeper. In that case, I predict him to be back within few Updates: either Ardon levels the shop, or something else does.

Or, it's for the same reasons that tuvi and ell mentioned.

It can't be for the same reasons as Tuvi since his main reasons for even being in the party are to watch Ardon die and inevitably betray him for the reward. Even if he tells them that it's for the same reasons, he probably has an ulterior motive.

I concur. That's what I felt after yesterday's update. This one just all but confirms it.

Maybe, but at this point I'm actually tempted to beleive him. Remember, the bounty thing was before he started working at the store. He could very easily be making enough money now that the bounty just doesn't matter much to him anymore.
