I am mostly confused as to why Odie is even trying so hard to act like Ardon. This Xvart hasn't seemed to have met Ardon before and thus looking like Ardon should be enough.

From the looks of that page, Ardon wasn't even intending on killing Torrin. The Nightmare spirit has to essentially berate him into doing it. He snaps and apparently does it after this comic, presumably also when he captures the blue-thing and uses it to make magic items for him.

Yeah, it's clear now that the Nightmare spirit had a lot more control over Ardon than it originally appeared. It makes me wonder how much Ardon was actually responsible for most of the terrible things he did. If I recall correctly, most of the truly heinous stuff happened after the spirit infected him. It's hard to blame him for a lot of his actions when the spirit was apparently preventing him from feeling empathy or regret, and also feeding him evil suggestions constantly. He was still evil before the spirit, but not nearly as much.

You know... the whole reason the Nightmare Spirit was trapped inside Ardon at all was because Ardon didn't have his soul in his body... maybe Ardon can still come back somehow if they find his soul.

*Shrug* the night-hag seemed to have some kind of spirit entity inside a construct that was able to possess a corpse when the construct body was destroyed. Maybe one of them will be given a construct or corpse body to inhabit.

If I remember right, Ardon was the third son and Torrin was the second son of the family. Then I wonder what happen to the first son?

think that's the daughter. the problem (as far as i remember) isn't that Ardon is the third son specifically, but that he's the third child. Torrin seemed to have control over bears, so supposedly his Sister has control over owls, carrying on their parents linage. Ardon existing and taking dominion over owlbears kinda wrecks things.

I feel like demanding to have his thoughts read/truth-spell verified to prove he isnt actually Ardon would be a logical thing to do. Thankfully, Odie and logic have never been on speaking terms.

Ardon's dad makes Ardon look like a Lawful Good pacifist in comparison.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Chandea's dad? For the life of me I can't think of anything (so far) that Ardon's dad has done beyond having a giant bear stop them from escaping and having a panda bring them inside.

I don't doubt that he is evil, but I don't know if we have enough info to say he is worse than Ardon.


Edit: In fact I remember Teleese saying that she had met three fanged Eladrins (i.e. Eladrins so cavalier about death that the Feywild has to put up a warning sign) in he lifetime.

We know about Ardon and have seen Torrin with fangs as well. I am thinking the third one (first from Teleese's perspective), is her father the Lord of Drakes. In which case he really wouldn't be a good example for which to judge other Eladrin nobles (not even the evil ones). Either way the fact that Ardon's parents don't have fangs means that they aren't as bad as post-nightmare spirit Ardon.

Well. This plot twist...exists. Feels super contrived. It's like we're on a mad dash to wrap up all of the plotlines lately and the quality is plummeting as a result.

can't say i agree with you there. it was always a mystery what exactly happened on that island, looks like we might start to get some answers about it now.

i for one am looking forward to where this is going.
