Tolkien without Tolkien?
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone made an attempt at a High Epic Homebrew that was tolkienesque without being tolkien. Love Tolkien dont want to play there but somewhere simular with big high epic feel ( Wizards being angelic emissaries, The High and Nobel Breed of Men, etc) while having more DnD Staples ( Arcane and Divine Magic perhaps even psionics, etc)
Thanks for your time

Yes. It's called the Forgotten Realms.

Re: Tolkien without Tolkien?
My Homebrew is heavly influenced by Tolkien though it's moved away some as I've developed it more. .
If you want something with that feel you actually wind up having to strip out most of the magic.
If you want a copy of my players info doc send me a PM with your e-mail address. The player info doc currently stands at 72 pages (Word doc).Looking for a low magic high fantasy world to use for your next campaign? Send me a private message as I'm currently looking for play test groups.

Re: Tolkien without Tolkien?
I'd agree that what you descibe does fit the Forgotten Realms :)
Otherwise, as Umarth pointed out, various people have given it their own tries - I'm sure you'll find many suitable things! There is no good and evil. There is only more and less.
