Default The Heights of Londo [IC]

Sunlight blesses Sorland Town's streets on this red letter day, as Professor Hawthorne prepares for one of her first Starter Pokemon Giveaways - and indeed, one of Londo's first ever. News of it hasn't been spread too far, for fear of tourists attending and disrupting the calm atmosphere that the locals enjoy, but many of the town's children have been talking about it for weeks...

    Cecily, the Serious Trainer

Having recently arrived in Sorland Town for her own reasons, Cecily has heard a few curious rumors, especially from Hale - the owner of the Brighten Inn, where she pays a relatively small amount to stay. Apparently, for the past couple of weeks, items have been taken from people's homes, and curiously, none of the Natives have had anything stolen from them. It's been tourists, or just non-native folk, who've had things gone missing - and apparently one of the people staying in the room beside hers had something of his stolen, and caused a big fuss over it, before going quiet and staying in his room all day ever since. Indeed, she's never seen him walk out of it.

As she walks down the stairs to begin her day, Cecily spots one of the other guests at the Brighten Inn chatting happily with Hale. A middle-aged man, dressed in a colorful shirt with a popped color, who's perhaps a little more hairy than is comfortable, but obviously takes good care of himself - he spots Cecily and gives her a finger-wave before returning to his conversation with the flirty woman at the receptionist's table.

She doesn't get far outside until she hears a commotion nearby...

    Leah

Leah's had a few busy days of late, not least because of Professor Hawthorne preparing for the day when many of Sorland Town's children will get their first Pokemon. She's had to assist the Professor in making sure that all the Eevees she's had prepared are in good health, calm, and perhaps most importantly of all, don't get too attached to either of them before meeting their trainer-to-be. To the woman's credit, she's remained as calm as can be, and greets Leah every morning with a bright smile and an offer of tea.

On top of preparing for the Starter Giveaway, a thief has been running rampant through Sorland Town, and the Sorland Officers have had difficulty in finding out who the culprit is, because they're always when everybody's asleep, and Officer Nepole has had a difficult time managing both the initiate she has to train, her regular patrolling duties, and continuing an investigation on items stolen when nobody's been conscious. Just recently, Max Sherri, the man who works at the Silph Co. office, had his digital tablet stolen, and her own mother's 3d Picture Frame of the family was taken from her nightstand.

Even as Leah says goodbye to her mother in the morning, the woman sniffles a little at the loss of her picture frame. "I hope you have a lovely day, dear." She says, putting on a bright smile for her daughter and wrapping Leah in a warm, motherly hug. "And you make sure to keep her safe, Saura." She says to the bulbasaur sitting at Leah's side, as she leans down to offer her a poffin. "If Professor Hawthorne tries to get Leah to carry any gadgets around, give her a good whipping!" She laughs, standing up properly and brushing some luxurious brown locks back behind her ear. Before Leah leaves, she leans over and plants a big, wet mom-kiss on her cheek.

After leaving the house, Leah is on her way to Professor Hawthorne's lab when she spots something happening just a street away from it...

    Lincoln

Lincoln's morning starts out typically. Wake up to the sound of the rest of the household making noise, spending some time getting ready for the day, and by the time he's ready to move out of his room, his father has already gone down to the farm and his mother out to either help, or run some errands. Just as he reaches for where he's certain he left his gas mask the night before, Lincoln finds that the space where it was...is no longer there. Just like the lava lamp that Azula keeps in her repair shop window - while it used to light up the street, it's been gone for the past couple of weeks. No matter how much he searches his room, he's unable to find it.

Ellie appears to him not long after he discovers that his gas mask is missing, bobbing anxiously in the air before she starts to lead him through the house. She ignores any of the commands he gives her, stopping only to stare at him and urge him through the street. As soon as they reach the bright daylight, she takes to the shadows cast by the many homes and washing lines that stretch between tall wooden poles. She ducks through a few alleys before leading Lincoln to the end of an alley, where he can hear raised voices...

    Alea

It was a long journey, but Alea found herself in Sorland Town with relatively few scrapes and bruises. By sticking to the dirt paths and the advice of some strangers, she's been able to avoid the packs of Pyroar and Litleo that are said to dominate the plains, and found her way to the quaint seaside town that hosts a mixture of familiar architecture and the technology that foreigners have helped integrate. It was late when she arrived, but she was greeted at the town's borders by a foreign woman an entire foot shorter than her, with a long black coat, a silver sword at her hip, and hair dyed in a few different colors. Accompanying this woman was a boy most definitely native, in a similar coat but without a sword, who didn't look too invested in what he was doing.

The woman, who introduced herself as Officer Nepole, and her accomplice as Initiate Bronze, revealed herself to be one of the town's protectors, and escorted Alea to the local Brighten Inn, while giving her some background on the town itself. With a kind farewell, the short woman walked back into the streets and Alea was greeted by another native, in a long blue gown, who seemed to approve of her height and build a little too much for politeness. She set Alea up with a cheap room and a blown kiss, to wish her a good night's sleep.

Officer Nepole had told her that Professor Hawthorne would be giving away Pokemon on the next day, which meant Alea had arrived just in time. The bed was comfortable and familiar, and she woke up at a ripe time to prepare for getting her first Pokemon. It seems to be a pleasant morning when she wakes up, with the sun shining across the clear blue sky and the streets quite clear of crowds. She gets to treat herself to a walk and discover the location of Professor Hawthorne's lab, a large building with a rustic exterior, which is still locked when she arrives. While she waits, she hears a disturbance just down the street, and has a good view of it from the small hill Professor Hawthorne's lab sits on...

    Everyone

In the center of the path that leads through all of Sorland Town, there stand five people. One, a tall foreigner with messy blonde hair and a clearly tugged-on outfit stands with an angry expression on his youthful face, marking him not very long out of his teens. Back and to the side of him is a woman of a similar age, without any make-up on, and holding a small girl about the age of three in her arms; she looks on at him with a concerned frown creasing her forehead. About ten feet away from him stands a young native girl, probably about the age of twelve or thirteen, with a helmet's faceplate tied over her wild black hair with a bandana, who's yelling colorful insults with her scratchy voice.

Standing to the side of them is a woman who can't be much taller than five feet, wearing a long black coat with dyed hair - also clearly a foreigner, and one of Sorland's Officers. Her expression is one of calm, and she still walks, like she's just arrived at the scene.

"It was you! I know it was! I saw you moving about last night, all sneaking around while me and my family were just trying to have dinner! You stole it! I know you did!" The man yells at the young teen, pointing an accusing finger in her direction.

"Shut up! Shut up!" She yells back at him, raising her fist. "I'm gonna beat you up with your own face, jerk!"

"Savan- Savages! That's what you are! Stealing form hard-working folk!" He roars, moving towards her as though he's going to do something.

It's at this point that the Officer steps between them, eyes flicking between the two people and ending up on the aproaching man. "Excuse me, Sir. Let's not let this escalate any further than it has. What happened?" She asks, in a light Kalosian accent, with the keys on her belt jingling as she walks up.

"He grabbed me and started yelling that I'd stolen his stupid foreigner trash!" The young teen spits on the floor, as a few locals peek out of their window-hatches to get a look at the scene.

"You lying runt! She stole my Xtransceiver while me and my family were at the teahouse last night! Do you know how much those cost?! How long I had to wor- and it's all of you that've done it, all of them, stealing from tourists who paid good money to be here!"

"Sir, I assu-" The Officer begins, but is cut off by the man.

"And you're just supporting them, biased against them because your stupid company's kissing their butts and making it so we can't even get around! MY daughter cried all day because of Devon's blimps! And now you're letting them get away with stealing from us!" He bellows, and jabs a finger at the much shorter Officer's shoulder.

You recognize the Officer as Officer Nepole.

    Spoiler: Leah

You recognize the young teen as Sass, the daughter of one of the farming families in Sorland Town. She's always been a tomboy, and is known to have a loud mouth, but she's also quite friendly to people, and has been visiting Professor Hawthorne lately, very excited about getting her Starter Pokemon soon.

    Spoiler: Lincoln
    Show
You've seen the young teen around a few times before, and it's easy enough to recognize her as being the younger sister of Bronz - the boy who you stopped from kicking his Vullaby a good few years ago. She showed up towards the end of his beating, in a ladylike dress and pigtails, and cheered you for beating up her jerk of a brother, at least before you left.

Although you don't interact with the other residents much, you've noticed that, as she's been getting older, she's acted like more and more of a tomboy - she got that piece of a helmet, for one, and it's quite clear that she's been trying to build up her muscles.

Also, as Ellie watches the argument continue, she giggles slightly as she basks in what is obviously quite a nourishing confrontation.

Leah really wanted to just stay in bed. Her alarm was going off, the sun was coming in through the windows, and she just wanted to stay in bed. The past week had taken a lot out of her. All the running around getting ready for the new trainers, making sure the Eevee's had everything they wanted, trying to tell Saura that she wasn't allowed to play with them. All of this on top of her normal duties. It was exhausting.

    "Saur!"

Has it really only been a week? Leah buried her face deeper into her pillow, in defiance of the morning, It feels like so much longer...

    "Saur! Bulbasaur!"

Leah felt Saura jump up onto her bed, gently butting her in the ribs.

"Urhhh... Alright... Alright, I'm getting up."

Groggily, Leah clambered out of her bed as Saura triumphantly leaped to the floor. Sending the Bulbasaur downstairs to wait for her, she got dressed for the day. She took a bit more time than usual to make sure she was presentable. If she was helping to start people on their journey's, she ought to at least look her best. Pulling the curtains back, she looked out over Sorland Town. The eye of the imagination was already picturing the queues that were waiting for her at the lab. She better get there soon, she didn't want to keep Professor Hawthorne waiting.

Heading downstairs, she spotted Saura waiting patiently by the door. The sight made her smile. Saura must be excited, she was going to get to see so many new people today. Grabbing a slice of toast from the table, Leah was pulled into a hug by her mum.

"I hope you have a lovely day, dear."

Returning her embrace, Leah replied through a mouthful of food "I 'ill m'm," Swallowing, she continued, "Have a good day too."

Released from the hug, she grabbed her bag. "And you make sure to keep her safe, Saura. If Professor Hawthorne tries to get Leah to carry any gadgets around, give her a good whipping!"

Leah rolled her eyes as Saura gave out an enthusiastic "Saur!"

She was almost to the door when she was pulled in for a last kiss before she went out to face the day. "Love you too, mum." Walking backwards, she held the door open for a few moments to let Saura bound past, "See you later!" Waving as she did so, she set off out the door and down the road.

She walks slowly as she finishes her meager breakfast, her mind wandering. Though she'd tried to hide it, she could see that her mum was quite upset over losing the 3D picture frame. Privately, Leah wasn't convinced that her mother hadn't just misplaced it.

    "Saur..."

It wouldn't be the first time something like that had happened. Stuff vanished for weeks on end before turning up in the strangest- "Saur!"

"Hmm?" Leah glanced at Saura, then followed her pokémon's gaze. A frown furrowed her brow. There was a commotion near the lab. And was that Officer Nepole?

Concern growing, Leah quickened her pace. She arrived just in time to catch the full exchange of insults and threats. Cowed by the man's aggressive manner, she hesitates to get involved. She felt bad for Sass, she'd seen a lot of the younger girl recently and she'd always seemed really nice.

Awkwardly, she steps forward, "Uhh... Sass?" She glances between Sass and Officer Nepole, not sure who she should be talking to, "Is everything ok?"

Swinging his legs out of bed, Lincoln rubbed his eyes with his left hand, still half asleep as he got dressed. Reaching for his final article, he snapped to full consciousness when it was no-where to be seen. Ellie's appearance was also unusual, though he paid little heed while he began furiously searching for the mask. It always went in one place, always. With a glance at Ellie he could see her nervous bobbing before she darted out of the room. Snatching a scarf from his bed he followed.

While the little cloud led him through the house, Lincoln assumed everyone was busy and took a quick moment to grab a sponge from under the sink and wet it. Glancing at Ellie he watched her glide outside in full daylight. Setting up a crude mask he followed her. "Where are we going?" he whispered, watching the cloud dart swiftly from shadow to shadow before finally reaching the small group of people. He half grinned as he looked to his companion "Oh, breakfast". The grin on Ellie's face was obvious before she faded from view.

"You lying runt! She stole my Xtransceiver while me and my family were at the teahouse last night! Do you know how much those cost?! How long I had to wor- and it's all of you that've done it, all of them, stealing from tourists who paid good money to be here!" The thought process took a moment, but was clear enough when Lincoln noticed the discrepency. Grabbing the man's shoulder he pushed the guy away from everyone by at least a step, moving to only a couple centimeters from his face.

"Back off." He growled, eyes locked onto the man's. "You're not the only one with something missing, and you have no right to just accuse someone" His voice raised in volume slowly, though not far. It didn't help that Lincoln knew the girl in question a little more than he knew most people in the area. Having spoken his piece, Lincoln took a single step back and to the side, his head snapping to the officer. "Sorry, he's yours."

Cecily yawns as she pads down the stairs, waving back with a dazed smile to the fairly furry fellow with her free hand; the other arm is preoccupied holding up little Millie who's happily dozing in her arms. The teen is more than set to go, even if her pokemon isn't, with her bag and travel gear all set. With business as it's been around here, probably best not to leave too much in her room.

I really need to cut down on this 'sleeping in' business... the sun's already up an' everything.

She readjusts her shoulder bag and walks out of the inn to almost immediately hear a commotion. A girl, probably only a couple years younger, in a very hostile shouting match? That won't do. Cecily looks down at the dozing Miltank for a moment and hesitates long enough for a familiar face to come forward. Leah? she thinks to herself. And someone else... familiar, maybe?

    "Back off."

Cecily walks forward with no reservation, hearing more hostility, and gives her best politician smile with a quip. "At the very least think of your health. All this shouting isn't good for you, not to mention your poor wife." She bounces Millie in her arms a bit, waking her enough to give a yawn, before turning to the girl and asking "Are you alright, hon?"

Sorland Town was, Alea had quickly decided, quite interesting. Considering what she did know of the town, it shouldn't have been surprising that it would look like a combination of her own culture and the comforts outsiders were more used to. What she really hadn't expected, however, was the greeting. She hadn't really thought she would see a foreigner carrying a bladed weapon. Still, it made sense, if her job was to protect the citizens... If nothing else, the blade would command a measure of respect. At least, Alea had some respect for the law officer, and introduced herself in a polite manner.

After being led to the inn and bidding Officer Nepole farewell, Alea quickly found herself made uncomfortable by the attention she received from the woman inside. It's with an embarassed blush that she entered her room to finally sleep off her exhaustion from her travels.

The next morning, she hops onto her feet almost as soon as she's awake, feeling energized and refreshed. She walks out at a rather fast pace. She took in more of the sights of the town once outside, knowing she still had some time... And it's that same knowledge of the time she has that leads her to go investigate the commotion she hears while waiting outside the lab.

When she sees the situation, she finds herself sighing. Should she be surprised? She hesitates to get involved at first - she doesn't want to get in Officer Nepole's way. Once others have done so, however... She walks in, a little late in speaking up, all things considered. "Right. Let's all calm down. Getting angry and shouting won't get anyone closer to figuring out what happened. Accusing someone who I'm certain is trying their best to resolve the situation of biases isn't going to win them over either." She then looks at everyone else. "So, theft is a common problem here? What sorta stuff's getting stolen?" She asks them, especially Lincoln and Officer Nepole, the former because he mentionned the thefts, and the later because it seems to be her job to look into that.

Officer Nepole instinctively takes a half-step back as Lincoln barges into the scene, and the man a foot away from her. A gasp can be heard from a little further down the street. He looks at Lincoln first with mild disgust, but he averts his gaze at the threat that follows, and doesn't look back in that direction until the lanky teen has moved away. He allows himself a glance back at the woman holding a child down the street, when Cecily makes her comment.

"Kick his butt, Lincoln!" Sass encourages from her spot a few feet away, but Lincoln has already stepped away by this point.

"Thank you...Lincoln, isn't it?" Officer Nepole says to him, after briefly eyeing his makeshift gas mask.

As two older girls flank either side of her, Sass keeps glaring at the man. "I'm fine, but that guy isn't gonna -" It's at this point that the young teen hears Millie's yawn, and she spins her head around to look at the baby Miltank cradled in Cecily's arm. "Eeeee!" She squees at the sight of it, the snarling wild girl from a moment ago evaporating into nothing. "That is so cute! Can I pet it?"

When Alea steps up, Officer Nepole flashes her a small smile, before returning to her stoic expression from before. "Wise words, and ones we'd do best to follow. Over the last few weeks, numerous people have had technology stolen from them - some reported, others just well known, and as," She looked over at the man standing off to the side.

It took him a few moments for the man to mumble "Jowan."

"Jowan pointed out, all of them, up to this point, seem to have been targeted at non-natives, both citizens and visitors. It's been a struggle to keep up with them, because nobody ever sees the thief, and I can't find any evidence of breaking in, where I've been notified. But, if what I'm assuming is right, Lincoln just recently had his gas mask stolen from him." She nods at the lanky boy wearing a rag and a wet sponge wrapped around his mouth. "And he is a native citizen."

Cecily giggles a little at the 180' and softly states "She's a sucker for attention, so go right ahead; she's easier to feed if she's in a good mood. Say hello, Millie."

The calf mewls her insistence on being pet, though Cecily turns her head towards the officer to interject her opinion on the more adult matter. "Is it possible that it's a pokemon problem? I know that a curious Sentret would sometimes wander off with things back in Johto."

"Thanks! Hello, Millie!" Sass pushes the faceplate that's tied to her forehead up a little higher, then reaches out and gently starts to pet the baby Miltank's head with calloused fingers. "I don't have a Pokemon yet, but I'm meant to be getting one today - one that I can use to beat up jerks! Leah's going to be there, too." She smiles over at the other girl.

"It's a possibility." Officer Nepole admits. "The first person who had something stolen from them...wasn't very forthcoming about the circumstances. They just reported that their Jolocaster and jewelry were taken from something of theirs, near the docks. The second theft we heard about was at Azula's Repairs - a nice lava lamp she kept in her store window - which is odd, because everybody likes Azula. A few more things, from others, and then there was the...angry man staying at Brighten Inn, but after accusing us of corruption, he's told us not to bother investigating it. And without his help, well, I can't investigate further. The investigation doesn't work if I don't know of the thief's capabilities, and most people's things have been stolen from on top of their tables, or just through a locked door."

"These three cases promise information that I could use, but...I'll be honest with you, I'm more of an enforcer than an investigator." Her lips twitches into part of a smirk.

"So, you get to give some kids pokemon today? Mind if I watch before I... find some information?" He grinned, keeping an eye on the foreign man in his peripheral vision, ready to step in should he start getting grumpy again.

Listening to the explanation on the thefts, Alea holds her left hand to her chin thoughtfully. So, it was apparently all technology, and almost all stolen from non-natives? What could that mean...? Well, she might have a vague idea or two. "Well... If it is the same thief in every case, and it's not a pokemon... I'd bet that the items end up in the hands of other people from around here. I'm sure it would be easy to sell them for a good price to people who don't really know what the objects in questions actually do. Though whether I'm right or not, I think I'll investigate this." She says, ending with a smile towards Nepole. "Well, as soon as I get my pokemon, too."

Speaking of which, she turns towards Leah and Lincoln. "Uh, did I hear that right? The young miss here is going to be giving the pokemon...?" She considers the young girl and, after a moment, chuckles. "Well, you don't look like a 'Professor Hawthorne' to me... Apprentice?" She guesses, smiling towards the girl.

Leah looked over in surprise as Lincoln came in, and had to suppress a smirk at the unexpected sight of his make-shift mask. She managed to turn it into a smile and nod of greeting as Cecily came to join her next to Sass. She listened to the rest of the conversation passively, mind whirring as she did. She'd heard a bit about the ongoing thefts, but she hadn't really had the time to think about it. Were they really just targeting non-natives? Why?

Some of us have been here for years, why wait so long?

"Leah's going to be there, too."

Hearing her name, Leah was shaken out of her train of thought. She was about to respond, then Lincoln and the new arrival also turned their attention to her. Her face started to flush red at the sudden attention.

"I... Uh... I'm not, not the Professor. I just help her, in the lab, that is."

Embarrassment growing, she felt Saura gently nudge the back of her leg. Right, remember to breathe.

"I was just heading there, actually. I can help you guys look into it later if you want, but I need to help Professor Hawthorne first."

Lincoln nods at the officer, stepping away from Leah a stride. "I think it'd be best if we left, we're butting in as is." The young man shook his head as he watched the two girls with the calf. He could go home and check for any clues as to how someone got into his room, but without a lock on his bedroom door it wouldn't have been difficult. "If you want me with, I'll come Leah. Though I'll understand if you'd be nervous, apparently this is a big day for some people and you got work t- do"

"Help from any of you would be appreciated so much." Office Nepole beams at those who offer their aid in her search. "In the meantime, I'll take care of Jowan and his family, then try to find where my Initiate has run off to." She says, as she tucks some dyed hair behind her ear, and is about to turn on her heel, when she stops. "Oh...and the first victim was a particularly hairy foreign gentleman, if you decide to try finding him." She says, then steps over to Jowan and guides him over to the woman with her child.

Leah grins at Lincoln, "I'm sure the Professor wouldn't say no to an extra pair of hands."

As she turns her attention to Officer Nepole, Saura looks up happily at Lincoln. "Saur!"

Leah bobbed her head in acknowledgement, "I'll be sure to come to you first if I find anything out." She glanced down the road, toward the lab, "I really ought to be heading on, though..."

Leah turned to face Sass and the newcomer, "Sass, the lab will be opening soon if you wanted to come along and get your Eevee. And, uh, I think you were here for that too? Miss, uh..."

Cecily smiles at the girl petting Millie, replying with a sly grin. "I'm sure you'll be an excellent trainer, so long as you remember that jerks aren't worth your time. They're petty, you're pretty; already three steps ahead." The older girl punctuates her sentence with a wink before continuing to the group as a whole. "I was going to feed little Millie here and get my morning exercise in, so perhaps I can head back to the inn and talk to a certain hairy gentleman I saw earlier and I'll meet up with you afterwards. I'm sure he won't mind a friendly chat, he was certainly awful forthcoming with Miss Hale earlier."

Cecily starts walking towards the inn with a wave, adding "Good luck with giving out the pokemon and more so with getting your own, everyone."

Millie whimpers a bit as she's taken away from the girl, forcing Cecily to happily bounce the calf in her arms and coo "It's alright. We'll see her later, I promise."

Sass giggles at Cecily's wordplay. "You're nice, Miss. Thanks for letting me pet Millie!" She gives a hearty wave to the pair of them, as the blonde teenager starts walking back to the Brighten Inn. At Leah's comment, she looks over at Alea and tilts her head. "Wow. You're buff!"

Over at the nearby hill that leads up to Professor Hawthorne's lab, Leah catches sight of the woman herself - or at least her silhouette, making its way up to the lab proper.

    ~

When Cecily arrives back at the reception area of the Brighten Inn, she notices that Hale has returned to her seat at the reception, where she sits with a book laid out in front of her. Standing beside her, as the night before, is a particularly bulky Wobbuffet - at least as tall as the woman, even in her heeled shoes, twice as thick, and its cyan hide is criss-crossed with light scars. It stands resolute, arms locked into position at its side, even as it teeters to and fro. The hairy man has isn't anywhere to be seen, but she's certain she didn't see him leave the inn.

Alea nods towards the police officer. "Well, good luck then, here's hoping there won't be any more complications today!" She tells her with a friendly wave, before turning back to Leah, nodding her head to the younger girl.

"Sass, the lab will be opening soon if you wanted to come along and get your Eevee. And, uh, I think you were here for that too? Miss, uh..."

"Ah, yes. That's actually sort of why I was even around here. I'm Alea, by the way, nice to meet you!" She responds, before being surprised by a certain someone's outburst.

    "Wow. You're buff!"

Turning her head to her fellow native, Alea blinks, embarassment at the sudden statement reddening her cheeks somewhat. "Well, uh... Thanks. You're well on your way to being quite strong, yourself." She returns the compliment, making a mental note to maybe cover her arms a little more often in towns, if she was going to keep getting looks because of her physique. Not that it was strictly bad. Just... Uncomfortable.

"I've been practicing!" Sass beams widely up at the tall woman, as she holds out her arm and flexes it, revealing some toned muscles. "Carrying all the heavy things around the farm, and climbing up things! Are you going to become a Knight? Can I be your student if you do?"

"A knight?" Alea considered the possibility... The normal way to do so was out of the question. She had no intent to become an apprentice to another and be known as "Mister Hero's Student". Which meant she'd need to do some great deed to have a good chance of becoming one...

"I don't know what will happen, to be honest." She replies. "For now, all I know is that I'll be travelling. Whether I become a well-known knight, or an obscure benefactor, well..." She gives a small smile. "You don't need to be a knight to do the right thing. Still, if I become a knight, and you still feel like being my student then? Sure. I'll push you to your limit though, let me warn you!"

You know, she pondered... It was sort of like talking to her younger self, in a way. She certainly wasn't completely unlike her back then... Even then, really.

Leah grins at Sass' assuredness, "Pleased to meet you, Alea." She starts waving an arm over her head, trying to get the Professor's attention as they draw closer to the lab, "I'm Leah, and this is Saura."

She continued to smile to herself as the two discussed knighthood, lowering her arm as they walked. The concept always seemed almost... Archaic. Just one of the quirks of Londo, there were probably all sorts of little things that would seem outlandish about Kanto to them. Either way, she wasn't about to burst Sass' dreams of knighthood.

"I think you'd make a great knight, Sass. The best Sorland's ever seen, I reckon."

As they drew closer to the Professor, Saura enthusiastically bounded ahead to greet the woman.

When Alea begins her sentence with uncertainty, Sass' face falls a bit (Also making her faceplate slip down a little), but what follows fills her face with determination once more. "You'd better, 'cause I'm going to be one of the best fighters in all of Londo!" She pumps her fist in the air, then bobs her head with Leah's approval. "See! Even Leah thinks so, and she's smart!"

As they start to approach the lab, Sass spins on her heel and crosses her arm over her chest, giving Lincoln a kind of salute as she's not sure whether he's going to follow.

As they approach the Professor, she finishes unlocking the door of her lab and a distinct whirring sound is carried on the breeze. "Hoi!" She calls out to them, as she tucks her key back into her cardigan.

Cecily walks up to the reception and addresses the innkeeper politely with her traditional business smile. "Miss Hale I hope it is not rude of me to ask, but is the man you were speaking to earlier still here? I desire to ask him about a matter that was brought to my attention just now."

Millie, with her impeccable talent for helping her trainer look sophisticated, crawls up a little in Cecily's arms to bat at the ponytail draped over her shoulder.

"It's no bother at all, dear." Hale smiles pleasantly back at Cecily, as she placed her hand on her book and looks up at her with a beautiful pair of blue eyes. "Eldrick has just gone to his room to change into an outfit more suitable for this warm weather. Shorts and a flower-printed shirt, if I remember him correctly." She explains, with a voice like honey.

Cecily nods her head slightly, saying "I see, thank you for telling me. I will wait for him to return, then, since I don't think he'd appreciate me barging in while he's... indisposed." She goes to take a chair to wait, setting down her bag and putting Millie on her lap. The small pokemon gives her a reminding prod-and-grumble combo, prompting Cecily to dig through her bag for a small jar and spoon. "I didn't forget you, I promise."

As she starts feeding Millie, Cecily raises her voice a little to inquire "Have you heard anything about this thieving business, Miss Hale? It seems to be causing quite the ruckus in town."

Hale looks fondly over at the Miltank-feeding scene taking place in the reception area and nods her head. "Quite a few losses, as far as I've heard - Max, Azula, the gentleman in the room beside yours. It's making them quite irate, but what can I do?" She gives a gentle shrug of her shoulders. "Just providing my guests with a comfortable bed. Although, I think my friend mentioned seeing something odd the other night..." She pauses, as though drifting into thought.

Blocking the talk of knighthood from his mind, Lincoln keeps pace easily with the flock of girl, jis mind clicking through the ways someone could move undetected.

Although it looked strange, Lincolns right hand hovered a little away from beside his hip. The fingers swirling invisible gas.

I'm going to be one of the best fighters in Londo" Lincoln looked to the girl sass, hoping she directs that combat at people, not pokemon. The lanky fellow doesn't say a word as they progress though.

Leah smiles and gives the Professor another wave. She lengthens her stride to close the gap between them a bit quicker, betraying her excitement at what the day will hold. "Morning Professor! I've got a few tag-alongs, I hope you don't mind."

She glances back at her three companions, "Lincoln's offered to help out, and Sass you know." She nods at her third compatriot, "And this is Alea," Leah winks at Sass, "She's going to train Sass to be a knight."

Profesose Hawthorne smiles pleasantly at the group gathered before her, and tucks a lock of white hair behind her ear. "Not at all, Leah. Come in, all of you." She encourages, as she moves through the simple room beyond - it consists of one large room that's immediately obvious, with a small kitchen area off to the side, as well as a coffee table and some comfortable chairs sitting around it. Another pair of doors sits against the far wall, flanked by a pair of tall plants and many paintings.

"Would anyone care for some tea? I'm afraid the cakes from the Teahouse haven't arrived yet, most unfortunately." She explains, as she strolls over to the kitchen area and sets the kettle boiling, before turning around and leaning against the counter to face everyone. Sass moves easily over to the couch and sits on its arm, adjusting her bandana. "So! Who do we have here?" She claps her hands together. "My faithful assistant Leah, of course. Sass, naturally. And..." She pauses for a moment, as she listens to Leah's introductions. "Lincoln, isn't it? Are you here for a Starter, as well?" Once she gets an answer, she looks over to Alea. "Alea, I'm afraid I don't recognize you, so it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Professor Hawthorne." She bows her head.

Alea smiles at Sass. Well, the girl certainly has spirit. "Heh. Well then, I'll redouble my efforts to make sure I stay better than you, then! Just pick your fights well, no matter you are, alright? Don't go fighting at every occasion, 'cause that doesn't help anyone, least of all yourself."

She waves to the professor once they're closer to her. "Well, hey there, ma'am!" She says before they enter, making no comment as Leah introduces them, even as she talks about the knight business - though she does chuckle. She makes her way to one of the chairs, sitting straight in it. "Ah, I won't say no to tea, actually." She responds to the offer. When the Hawthorne introduces her to her, Alea is quick tor respond. "Oh, I'm glad to meet you, Professor." She bow her head reciprocally.

"Lincoln, isn't it?" The young man nodded, leaning against the back of a chair slightly. "Are you here for a Starter, as well?" Stunned, Lincoln thought for a moment before finally replying "I don't feel you can choose your friends." His gaze peering off at some point nearby that to others should hold no significance.
