    Default What about True Sorcery?

    Here it is.

I bought the book, and I like the mechanics for versatile spell casting, and mechanics for blending spell effects. It is quite a cool book.

But why would I make a post talking about how much I like the product? What do you folks think of the book?

Not having it, I can say only that is sounds like epic spellcasting.

It seems to be intended for use with True 20 rather than d20. I suspect it'd be comparable to Warlocks and ToB classes if inserted into d20. Haven't tried it so not certain. But it's unlikely to be a viable choice in any game with standard Clerics, Druids, Sorcerers, or Wizards.

What leads you to believe that? Quoted from the link itself (emphasis added):

Based on the award winning magic system of The Black Company Campaign Setting, True Sorcery revises and expands that popular magic system for use in any d20 or OGL game. Armed with this book, you become the true master of magic. Take a bold step into a new world of magical possibilities with True Sorcery!

Mostly because it seems to be sold as part of the True 20 line. That's where DriveThruRPG puts it at least. And Amazon sells it as True 20: True Sorcery.

I haven't seen much in the way of reviews though...just comments that it's based on The Black Company RPG's spell system.

It is not a True20 exclusive product. That part is the most misleading part of the book. It only has an appendix for adapting it to True20, but otherwise the rest of the book is D&D 3.5.
