Default I need pictures of realistic armor.

I can't find realistic looking armor anywhere.

They all have huge shoulders or are too big and exaggerated.

Does anyone know a place where I can find cool and realistic looking armors?

Have you tried photos, specifically from historic reenactors and museums?

The wikipedia is a good place to start just to find the names of different kinds of armor and find out what kinds of things to research or look for, from there it's pretty easy to find pictures on google image search.

Spiral Knights is a game that has some cool looking armor that isn't super exaggerated. I have no idea on realism though other than that a lot of the starter head armor is based on real head armors.

Low-end armor (up to steel) in the Elder Scrolls game is pretty reasonable.

From what time period and region? Realistic armour for a medieval European footman would look very different from that of a samurai (which did have silly looking shoulder pads, albeit for a good reason).

Yeah, but again, which time period and what kind of armour? Gothic plate, from your pictures?

I think medieval in general... It is a generic fantasy world.

The problem with real life museum photos is that most are jousting armor sets. They are too heavy for a normal warrior. They are armor for sport not for a fight.

I would imagine it depends on the museum, as well as on the culture (not everyone had jousts, and other sport combat, especially on foot, does not tolerate embellishments as much).

Pretty sure the Dungeons and Dreamboats thread has many examples of well-covered females in metal armor.

If you specifically want fantasy art, try looking up the armor from Mount and Blade. It also couldn't hurt to download Battle for Wesnoth (a free strategy game), and to raid its character portrait folders. For instance, here's the orc faction, which obviously fits your fantasy needs and has armor that at least looks fairly reasonable (mostly).

Other than that though, I'd second the museum suggestion. The Royal Armoury At Leeds has a ton of stuff, and it's far from the only place to have a substantial collection.
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.

I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that.
