    Star Wars

    Warriors of Mandalore

It is a time of triumph for the Galactic Republic. The Sith Empire has been routed completely for the third time since the War of Exar Kun.

Now, the Republic need only set out on the arduous task of reclaiming the many worlds still occupied by Sithholdout forces. A small fleet of Mandalorian ships waits outside of the star system of one recently liberated planet while a single vessel approaches the network of ships filled with celebrating warriors.

Aboard is a visitor of great importance with a message that will change the nature of the warriors' mission, as well as the relationship between the Republic and the Mandalorians, completely...

Mandalorians are not a group of people to waste space aboard a ship, but as it turned out, whoever authorized the hauling of exotic foods, spices, and drinks along with the temporary bridges necessary to connect the entire fleet into one continous vessel was someone worth thanking deeply. The celebration after the liberation of Vondia was one to be envied for years to come to be sure: songs sung, appetites satisfied, thirsts quenched, dalliances had, glory awarded.

Each warrior spends their time in their own way, but the air is exuberant nevertheless. The mission was a complete success, with not a single Mandalorian dying this day. A feat the Republic would have scoffed and declared impossible just a day earlier. That had of course been due to the fine work of the fleet's medical division, under the command of the Selkath Qual Shasa, but those on the front lines had performed no less admirably. Now, the Selkath reaps the benefits of his life-saving work collecting wagers and gifts from both his subordinates and his patients. Apparently, no one among them believed the feat possible either.

Some are all-serious even now, including the newly-field-promoted Captain Kote of Manda'yaim. Despite his young age, the examplary Taung patrols the ships with a keen eye and stern, but smiling, countenance. He watches for the safety of those aboard as even in moments of victory, danger may be lurking. His worry may be ill-founded tonight however, as every disturbance he has been called to has resulted in him coming face-to-face with another over-eager reveller. A quick reminder of discipline is all the warriors have needed to keep their celebrations in line for the better enjoyment of the whole group.

Unable to partake in the creature comforts being passed around by the rest of the crew V4-L0R Valor comemorates the victory his own way: with contests of skill with anyone fool enough to challenge him. Few believe the story of the three-armed droid's firepower that day and want to challenge him against training targets. When he olbiterates their scores with three hands' worth of blasters and his trusty turrets, they don't argue anymore. If only a droid could smile...

More subdued, Kadlo and Jordana share a quiet moment away from the rest discussing the finer points of computers and technology. The battle would scarcely have gone as well as it had without their expertise to shut down enemy droids and infiltrate security systems, but few are aware of the pivotal roles they played. Fewer still know where the two are sequestered now, but they wouldn't have it another way.

The quiet space around the connected fleet is still despite the goings on aboard the vessels, save for the single ship approaching them. Its single occupant is strong in the Force, capable enough to decimate a detachment of the day's opponents herself should her visions not called her to a more important task after the battle. Now she finds herself within hailing distance of conglomerate ship.

"Fifty credits says I can beat the droid!" comes the cry from the back of the crowd gathered around V4-L0R. "Speed, skill, or whatever else he wants! One hundred if he's willing to go with only two guns!"

Roshti Taays shoves his way to the front of the group, his gunbelt hanging over his shoulder and a smirk on his face. "Or, hell, even just bragging rights, if you're not interested in creds, Valor."

"Ahh! Mandalorians! An entire fleet of them! ...Well, only one thing to be done against this many. Message the republic and then ram this shuttle right into the biggest one!" Eponah didn't actually have anyone to speak to - just the inside of a small shuttle, where she'd been alone with her thoughts the entire time she'd been in hyperspace. And joke about glorious, yet doomed action aside, she'd mostly been nervous. There were just so many ways this could go wrong...

The message the Jedi sent back to the republic was actually a pretty standard 'Transit complete' update. Your leaders had to know where their assets were, after all, even the ones they were a touch ambivalent about.

She had a ship name, and a contact. Typically, her navicomputer was saying the transponder was located on the far side of the... fleet? They'd joined the ships together? Huh. Well, they were their ships. No matter, it was still just a nice gentle cruise around the group until she could find her designated docking bay.

Inputting the frequency she'd been given for the Mandalorians, Eponah glanced quickly at her datapad for her contact's name, then activated her comlink. "Ambassador Eponah to Captain Kote. I'm about two minutes out from the Revenant, could I ask you to meet me in the docking bay?"

Anyone listening in to the transmission would be able to pick the reluctance easily out of her voice. It's not too surprising she'd have doubts about this trip, after all. Even putting aside that she'd been on the opposite side of the Mandalorian Wars from... well, most of the Mandalorian officers... for the last 20 years 'Cathar Female' had been synonymous in Mandalorian culture with 'Domestic/Pleasure Slave'. And she was about to walk, unescorted, into a giant mandalorian party. If she didn't have a sober officer with her to keep the rank and file under control, this would either turn messy or bloody, with which of them happened depending entirely on if any of the celebrants knew her war record...

Well, she was as ready as she was going to be. She'd had a chance to visit the refresher on the flight out. Her robe was spotless, her fur perfectly brushed, and her lightsaber practically glistened at her hip. There was nothing to do but bring the shuttle in to the bay, and hope nothing went too wrong when she dropped the loading ramp...

The message comes through on the Taung's helmet commlink. He is still bedecked in the day's armor, leaving him an even more imposing figure amidst the revelers. As he listens to the short correspondence, he nods in understanding. It would seem that the other, more pressing reason for his sobriety this evening would soon be arriving. The young man closes his eyes for a moment to recall where exactly on the network of ships he currently was and how to most expediently reach the hangar of his recently appointed ship. With the course charted mentally, he sets without delay as he responds to the message, "This is Kote. Our hangar doors are currently programmed to open if you hail The Revenant's main line with the correct transponder codes. The Republic should've given these to you along with our coordinates." He takes another few steps before thinking to add, "...pardon the mess."

True to her word, just under 2 minutes after her transmission Eponah was transmitting the code to open the doors into the hangar bay. A little nudge of the main engines to get it heading through the magcon field, then cut in the repulsors as soon as she feels the tug of the Revenant's artificial gravity, then extend the landing legs and slowly float down to the deck. For someone who'd never trained as a pilot, Eponah had grown pretty good at this flying stuff...

...But, no time to sit around in here. Have to get out there and start making a good impression.

    ....Hah!...

So Eponah hits the button to lower the boarding ramp, and walks out to meet the enemy her beloved allies. As she gets to the bottom of the ramp, she has to admit... if not for the bits and pieces of armor on display, this wouldn't look too different from the other times she'd seen soldiers carousing after battle. Of course, she didn't know which one was Kote, but that was easily solved. Eponah reached for her comlink again, only noticing as she did so that her right hand had been touching the hilt of her lightsaber... and her claws were out.

Old instincts died hard, it seemed.

"This is far from the worst mess I've seen Mandalorians make, Captain, believe me..."

As her eyes scanned the room to see who responded to her comm message, she took her moment or two of peace to try and force her claws back in. She might need to give a handshake. Stabbing her colleague in the hand wasn't exactly the recommended approach to such things...

Instantly the turret powers down. "Two guns," he continued, powering his miniaturized blaster cannon arm and reloading his Heavy repeating blaster rifle simultaneously. "Fair warning though... I do nothing small."

Kote arrives just in time to see the woman landing her vessel in his hangar bay. Shooing the few soldiers that were occupying the room so that he may receive their guest in relative privacy, the Taung stands arms crossed waiting for the Cathar to disembark. When he receives her joke inside her helmet again, he lets himself smirk beneath his faceplate. "Nor is this the worst mess you've made of Mandalorians either, or so I've heard." He offers the Jedi a crisp salute in lieu of a handshake.

"Welcome aboard my ship," he finally offers through his helmet instead of into his commlink.

Inwardly sighing with relief, Eponah returned the salute. She knew from experience that claw vs mandalorian armor was far more likely to make her wrist ache than to hurt the other party, so she was quite happy to not have to risk shaking.

"Thank you, Captain. And yes, I've made a few messes in my time. That's life as an artillery spotter, really - if you haven't made a mess, you clearly got the co-ordinates wrong.

Have I been assigned quarters? No offence intended to your crew, but I would prefer to wait out the festivities somewhere quiet. Too many chances for 'misunderstandings' while your people are still, ah, 'consumed with joy'.

"You've been assigned quarters of a sorts, yes. They're actually the captai... my quarters, but they're the only private quarters you'll find on this ship, so you're welcome to them." He turns halfway and extends an arm to the nearest exit from the hangar bay. When his guest moves towards it, he turns the rest of the way to lead. The trip is short given the relatively small size of The Revenant, but it is not uneventful. More than once, the pair has to stop to allow a soldier passage to one of the temporary ship connectors or step over a warrior that has sipped a bit too much Corellian something or another. Finally, after their impediments are dealt with, they arrive at small room near the bridge of the ship. Inside, there is barely enough room for the standing refresher, cot, footlocker, and dresser crammed into the room. If Eponah hadn't just seen the steerage accommodations the rest of the crew shared, she might have reason to be offended. They even managed to put a wardrobe in for her sake, after all.

Sin Shai was, for once, participating in the post-battle celebration. Practicing his form transitions could wait until later, now was a time for partying! He was well on his way to getting drunk, chatting up a couple of the more attractive warriors in the hopes of a passionate end to this wonderful wonderful day.

As the back-and-forth continued, he felt something in the back of his mind: a presence approaching...a presence strong in the Force...

    Xenna

The galaxy was a big place. Very big. Enormous, even. Perhaps colossal. Indeed, it was quite possibly infinite in scope, breadth and scale. So gargantuan were its dimensions that the very thought of a single sentients significance in comparison were as laughable as comparing a building to an atom - and yet there she sat.

Alone within a simple, little shuttle, Xenna watched with transfixed, jaundiced eyes as the infinite void passed just outside her cockpit canopy. An endless expanse that stretched out into infinitesimal time, its star-riddled majesty enthralled the force witch and she reached out to place one flattened palm against the transperasteel port to feel the residue of its cold, lifeless touch. Separated by so thin a barrier, Xenna closed her eyes and inhaled deeply to infuse a mote of the immortal cosmos within herself.

    So exquisite...

Breathing slowly, Xenna opened her eyes to spot the flotilla of Mandalorian craft in the distance.

"A flock awaits their shepherd..." she uttered to herself, as she sunk back into her plush chair to enjoy the rest of her journey. Allowing the shuttle to guide itself into the centre of the Mandalorian fleet and into the womb of a cruiser, Xenna sat still as her craft was brought to a halt by automatic systems. With a shudder and a soft metalic whine, she and the craft she was in landed crisply upon the hangerbay floor.

"Thank you," Xenna reached out and stroked the console with a clawed hand. Several charms that encircled her wrist and lengths of thin silver chain that ran their length along her fingers clattered most satisfyingly against the steel of the contraptions brain.

    "Yes...splendid machine."

The slender woman drew herself up from the cockpit seat. All about her fell the voluminous, blood red cloak that strategically hid the majority of her mostly grey, angular features. Giving one last perusal to her immediate surroundings, the force witch nodded her head once with a "hmph!" in confirmation as she turned on the heel of her boot and casually departed.

Standing in front of the docking bay ramp, Xenna waited patiently as mechanical hiss! announced her arrival and the durasteel plank blossomed to engulf her in the cool, sterile docking bay air of the Mandalorian cruiser.

Inhaling deeply, Xenna let the ramp extend fully before she slowly scuttled down its length to whoever waited down bellow...

Crammed into a corner, with a full glass of liquor, stands an almost invisible red haired woman. In the battle she emptied her missile launchers several times, and her long ranged crowd control abillities were important saving a lot of lives in the approach.

All the joy and celebration around Amelia sounds void. All these cries of happiness and somewhat debauchery chilled her inwards, as if she was standing amidst a frozen planet. Each laugh a new wind that froze her soul, turned it harder and harsher.

Zaris was still out there. Sith still lived. She was certain of it – and while he was alive she had no chance to be soft. To laugh or to cry.

She was a pool of no emotions - a void filled with a quest – revenge.

Still in her armor, the something that remains from her clan, she touches the cold metal - Bers’kar. She feels it’s weight, it’s roughness, it’s layers.

Feeling strong vibrations in the Force she turns to her advisor “Kalla, shall I follow this?”

"Alright. Eighty meters it is." After waiting a few moments for the targets to be repositioned, Roshti brings one gun up, sights down the barrel, and snaps off a shot with it before bringing up the other and repeating the process.

Roshti draws and fires first, as he almost always does, at the armored targets set up down the firing range. The first shot is dead center on where a Human heart would be, scoring the coating with heat and spewing some of that foul melted-plasteel scent into the air. The second impacts the target's unarmored neck, weaving between the nearly overlapping chestplate and helmet and snapping the thin metal rod holding the dummy's head up within. Feeling confident in his display, Roshti holsters his smoking barrels while Valor revs up his own.

The droid doesn't play fair and he doesn't do things halfway either. The spray of autofire from his heavy repeater goes wide, scoring more hits on Roshti's target than his own, but when he brings his arm cannon to bear, it is clear that Valor intended for there to be no contest at all. He places the explosive round squarely on the floor between the two dummies. It ricochets up from the floor to the back wall until it seems to linger in midair perfectly between the two targets before exploding in a blinding flash of heat and light. The crowd can hear the sound of dura- and plasteel hitting the deck before they can see anything. When the dust finally settles, both targets are barely left standing, their support beams bent at a 45 degree angle and their armor stripped and slumped off of them bit by bit.

A roar of laughter and cheer erupts from the crowd as a number of hard slaps come down on both contestants' shoulders congratulating their respectable-by-any-metric performances. Still, it's a good thing they didn't settle on any credits beforehand...

There is only one person in the hangar when Xenna steps off her gangplank: a single, terrified mechanic who promptly evacuates the bay when he sees the woman's flowing robes. Hardly the grandiose welcome the self-fashioned goddess would have preferred. Still... Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the exterior door to the hangar beginning to close, as well as a pair of emergency doors sealing off the two exits to the hangar bay. The cause for this alarm lies elsewhere in this network of ships...

Kote's palms slap firmly down on the dresser as he barks demands out at someone Eponah cannot hear over his commlink, "What do you mean we have an unauthorized landing!? We've received our only expected visitor! What!? What do you mean she had our transponder codes!? I want to know who sold us out- A SITH LORD!? THEY LET A SITH LORD ON BOARD!? Well if she came by herself, we'll just blast her out of the airlock once we make her talk."

Straightening his posture, the Taung regains some of his commanding composure back before turning to address his Jedi guest. "It would appear we have a situation on our flagship. If you overheard that, then I'm sure you'll agree that it's probably in your interest to investigate it with me." He offers to guide her their once again with that same half open stance turned towards the quarters' door.

Sin Shai grimaces as the Force ripples more strongly; whatever had arrived on their ship, they were already making waves. There was no doubt in his mind that he'd be contacted to go deal with things one way or another, so he excused himself from the lovely conversation he'd been having to seek out this...disturbance.

Not at all. That's a pretty good go-to, actually. In fact, it's about as deus ex-y as when actual Star Wars writers do it, so why not?

The trip is quick as Sin Shai did not find himself on the opposite side of the fleet from the disturbance, as his captain did. When he arrives he feels... confused. The being within has been steeped in the dark side of the Force for some time but has pulled away of its own volition. If he dares, he may try to speak to Xenna through the Force without first opening the door.

Amelia will contact her guardian spirit to know if going to the Jedi is advisable.I don't know if you as a GM want to roleplay Kalla, or if I will do it.
The wizened voice of her mentor rings out in her mind like a well-recalled memory, "Whoever just came to us follows a twisted path, neither truly dark nor light. You, who have found two ways of life yourself, should definitely meet her and show her a better way." If she moves to arrive, Amelia finds herself the second person to arrive to investigate. As she approaches, she feels a gathering of those experienced in the Force oncoming. This meeting was meant to be.

Borgruk was happy! Their success was noteworthy. Now he had one more accomplishment to brag about. He celebrated, but he did not drink. He didn't want to look bad in front of the others.

When the commander called, he was even happier. Maybe he'll have another opportunity to show he belonged to that unit? He ran as fast as he could closer to the commander.

Rush vaguely remembered the captain saying something about a Jedi ambassador joining up. Perhaps this was that person, perhaps someone like himself, who'd joined Revan but had suffered a bad case of remorse afterward? Such a being could certainly be disturbing his brethren with their mere presence. Regardless of what exactly was going on, he was here because of his experience and skill fighting other Force-users, and he wasn't going to let a potential hostile just walk past without at least a word between them. Steeling himself, and drawing his lightsaber, he opened the door and entered, feeling out the stranger through the Force all the while.

"I suppose I did get a little carried away there--"

Once Kote's voice was heard over the comm, Valor quickly computed the commands. "Potential hostile on board. All warriors are to proceed to the hangar bay. Authorization Captain Kote Alpha One."

Roshti growls out a few curses in Togrutan, and then adds in Basic, "Roger."

He graps his bandoliers from where they were lying on the floor and pulls them on over his beskar. "Did he say which hangar bay, Valor?"

The first rule of safe piloting: always keep your wits about you. Cadan Zhug had never been one for rules. This was a celebration, and every Mandalorian knew to take full advantage of these rare occasions.

Well, maybe not every Mandalorian. Some are stuffier than they need to be.

Not Cadan. The young Duros had a date, and he planned for the ride to last all night.

And what a ride it was! The Razalon FC-20 speeder was no great beauty, but it handled like a dragonfly, tight in the corners, responsive to the slightest touch. Top speed was middling according to the manufacturers. But they're always better at building these than driving them.

Cadan gunned the throttle, and the little bike sped through the huge corridors of The Revenant. The sound of gunfire echoed through the halls, then an explosion. Sounds like fun.

The bike decelerated in an instant with a stomach-churning lurch that would have snapped his neck without the proper repulsor systems. A crowd of his fellow crewmates stood around Roshti and V4L0r, slapping backs and laughing. Before he could dismount, the new captain's call came.

    The hangar bay? My ships!

Without pausing to look back, Cadan rockets off, the heavy repeater over his left shoulder clicking into firing position. "This way! I'll comm with a sitrep when I get there!"

    Xenna

Descending down the ramp to what she believed would be an official welcome, the force witch was halted in her tracks by the miserable sight of a lone, diminutive mechanic...

"...what?" Xenna balked, turning her head about in search of the others. For someone that could see the future she had not been expecting this.

The prophets shoulders clenched together and her toes curled inside her boots as the mechanic, coming to his senses, shrieked and turned tail to run.

    "Squeally fool!" Xenna hissed.

As the mechanic bolted out the door, Xenna turned herself to face the shuttle in which she'd arrived. Craning her head back and staring up at the durasteel contraption, she leaned forward a tad and kicked its landing gear once with the tip of her boot.

"Disobedient machine!" she scolded, "you were supposed to announce my arrival!"

Growling softly under her breath and shaking her head, Xenna uttered "I will deal with you later," before turning on her heel and sauntering towards the door.

"It's a funny galaxy we live in...have to do everything myself..." she uttered under her breath.

Xenna paused at the hatch and reached out to activate the doors opening mechanism.

    Dee-do! - denied.

Furrowing her brow, Xenna stabbed the button again with her index finger.

    Dee-do! - denied.

Pressing that switch several more times and receiving the same response each time, Xenna turned to look back at her shuttle.

    "Now look...you've spooked them...!"

Turning back to the door and shaking her head, Xenna stepped forward and into the durasteel pannel - her figure seemingly melting into its dimensions, passing through its substance and emerging on the other side -

    - where she spotted a wide-eyed mechanic.

"Good evening..." Xenna smiled, her voice smooth and feminine.

"I think we might have gotten off on the wrong foot, er..." she snuck a look at his name-tag, "Gary. But I do need something of you. I need to you get onto that speaky thing," she points towards the commlink jutting out of his top chest pocket, "and inform the warlord of this ship that their expected guest has arrived."

Eponah had dropped her pack and drawn her lightsaber long before Kote's comm conversation had finished. When he turned to address her, all she had to reply was, "Yes. Lead the way."
