Proselyte of Death (3.5 Undead PrC)PROSELYTE OF DEATH
"I have tasted death's elixir, there is no draught like it in life." – Drauw, a new Wight and Proselyte of Death
A Proselyte of Death is, as the name implies, a convert to death, a creature once alive that has sworn allegiance now to the same death that claimed its life. They are undead who were reborn with a strong faith and conviction in the rightness of death. They hunger to kill, emulating the Grim Reaper, moving quietly, striking subtly, and draining the life from their foes.
Becoming a Proselyte of Death
Becoming a Proselyte of Death is easy. Go hug the wight. We'll wait. Ok it's not that easy though that is a good first step. A Proselyte of Death needs a few things. They must possess some ability at unarmed combat whether a natural prowess or a trained one. They must also possess a reverence for death, an embrace of their newfound place, and a willingness to end the life of others. Finally they must possess a modicum of stealth. However for the most part a Proselyte of Death finds that they are one before they intend to become one, only once they have started the road do they shift to the dedicated practice to perfect it.
Skills: Hide 3 ranks, Knowledge (religion) 3 ranks, Move Silently 3 ranks.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: A Proselyte of Death needs no weapons save their own body, it is only that which once lived which can truly carry death within it. They gain no new armor proficiencies either.
Drain Strength (Su): A Proselyte of Death learns how to feed the hungry void within them with the life force of others. Once per round when a Proselyte of Death strikes a living creature in melee with a natural weapon or unarmed strike they may inflict 1d4 Strength damage to the target as well gaining a Profane bonus to Strength equal to that amount for 1 + Charisma modifier (minimum 1) rounds. A Proselyte of Death may choose to use Drain Strength as a melee touch attack as a standard action in which case they do not deal regular damage. You may choose to use this ability after you know whether your attack hit or missed. You may not use Drain Strength and Drain Vitality or your Proselyte of Death Energy Drain on the same attack.
Reaper Monk (Ex): A Proselyte of Death learns to fight unarmed, the better to make use of their life draining capabilities and in so doing learn many combat arts similar to those of a monk. A Proselyte of Death gains Unarmed Strike (and damage), Flurry of Blows, an AC bonus, and speed increases as a Monk of their Proselyte level, and may add their Proselyte of Death level to their Monk level to determine these factors. In addition a Proselyte of Death may choose to use Charisma in place of Wisdom for their Monk AC bonus and Stunning Fist save DC if they possess that feat.
Unholy Vitality (Ex): A Proselyte of Death has an inhuman vitality and tenacity hanging onto undeath with fang and claw. They add their Charisma modifier to their hit points gained at each level of Proselyte of Death.
Drain Vitality (Su): A Proselyte of Death learns how to feed not only on the physical strength but the life force proper of their foes. Beginning at 2nd level once per round when a Proselyte of Death strikes a living creature in melee with a natural weapon or unarmed strike they may inflict 1d4 Constitution damage to the target as well gaining a Profane bonus to Fort and Reflex saves equal to that amount and to speed equal to 5 ft per point of Constitution damage dealt for 1 + Charisma modifier (minimum 1) rounds. A Proselyte of Death may choose to use Drain Vitality as a melee touch attack as a standard action in which case they do not deal regular damage. You may choose to use this ability after you know whether your attack hit or missed. You may not use Drain Vitality and Drain Strength or your Proselyte of Death Energy Drain on the same attack.
Silent as the Reaper (Ex): A Proselyte of Death moves with the silence of death itself. Beginning at 2nd level a Proselyte of Death gains a +2 bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks, this increases by +2 if they are within shadowy illumination, and +4 if they are in total darkness.
Energy Drain (Su): A Proselyte of Death hungers for life and how better to drain it than completely. Beginning at 3rd level once per round when a Proselyte of Death strikes a living creature in melee with a natural weapon or unarmed strike they may inflict 1 negative level upon the target. The Proselyte of Death gains 5 temp hp, +1 to attack rolls, all saves, and all skill checks for 1 + Charisma modifier rounds whenever they inflict a negative level in this way; inflicting a negative level to the same target will reset this duration, inflicting one to a creature that they do not currently gain benefit from will increase these benefits by +1 or +5 temp hp as well as reset the duration. A Proselyte of Death may choose to use Energy Drain as a melee touch attack as a standard action in which case they do not deal regular damage. You may choose to use this ability after you know whether your attack hit or missed. You may not use your Proselyte of Death Energy Dragon and Drain Strength or Drain Vitality.
Lifesense (Su): A Proselyte of Death can sense the enemy readily enough. Beginning at 3rd level a Proselyte of Death notices and locates living creatures within 30 feet, just as if it possessed the blindsight ability. It also senses the strength of their life force automatically, as if it had cast deathwatch.
Drain Life (Su): A Proselyte of Death may drain a foe completely, letting their hungry void consume them utterly. Beginning at 4th level, 3 times per day but no more than once per round, when a Proselyte of Death strikes a living creature in melee with a natural weapon or unarmed strike they may force that foe to make a Fortitude save (DC 13 + Class level + Charisma modifier) or die instantly; this is a death effect. If a creature dies from this effect then the Proselyte of Death gains the benefits of a Harm spell cast on themselves and a Death Knell spell cast on the target both with a CL equal to the target's HD. A Proselyte of Death may choose to use Drain Life as a melee touch attack as a standard action in which case they do not deal regular damage. You may choose to use this ability after you know whether your attack hit or missed.
Reaping Rush (Ex): A Proselyte of Death is a predator of life, capable and ready to spring upon it. Beginning at 4th level a Proselyte of Death gains a +2 on Jump and Tumble checks, increasing to +4 in shadowy illumination, and +6 in total darkness. In addition 3 times per day they may move 1/2 their speed as a free action before making the first or second attack of a full attack action, this movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity from the target of the following attack and can be made in the same round in which the Proselyte takes a normal 5 ft step.
Improved Draining: A Proselyte is a hungry maw ready to feast on life in the name of death, the limited draining that satisfied them thus far can no longer satisfy. Beginning at 5th level a Proselyte of Death deals 1d6 Strength damage one of which is Strength drain instead with Drain Strength and 1d6 Constitution damage one of which is Constitution drain instead with Drain Vitality. In addition they inflict 2 negative levels with their Proselyte Energy Drain gaining 10 temporary hit points (but not improving the other aspects) each time. Finally they may choose to apply 2 of Drain Strength, Drain Vitality, and Energy Drain to the same attack.
Reaper's Walk: A Proselyte of Death is the Grim Reaper, they are Death and Death knows no bars. Beginning at 5th level a Proselyte of Death may, as a free action, become incorporeal. They may return to full corporealness as a free action and may remain incorporeal for no more than 10 + Charisma modifier rounds per day. While incorporeal they may make an incorporeal touch attack that deals 2d6 + Charisma modifer untyped damage to living creatures (no damage to undead, constructs, and objects) which ignores DR and may carry their Draining attacks. While incorporeal a Proselyte of Death gains concealment in shadowy illumination even if the attacker can normally see in darkness and total concealment in total darkness, a true seeing spell negates this concealment. An incorporeal undead with this ability can instead use it to become wholly corporeal gaining natural armor of +6 or +2+their Charisma modifier whichever is higher, a natural slam attack dealing 1d6 damage, and Str equal to their Charisma score; they do not gain the concealment in shadowy illumination instead gaining +4 Strength when in shadowy illumination and +8 in total darkness.Peanut Half-Dragon Necromancer by Kurien.
