I've given out bonus xp. I know I did. 1 point. It can be cashed in for a reroll. Which is something you guys need more than almost anything I can think of.

Of course I don't remember who got it :p

Rerolls are worthless for those that roll like us. It only allows us to fail twice as much.

Now, did we ever use action points? I was sure we did. Maybe it was another game....

Yes. But while that's true, I'd have twice as much fun at your expense =)

Um. No, I don't think so.

I like action points, and I think we would have used them if I'd ever thought of it. But I'm pretty sure we didn't.

It seems three of use got a bit busy with another game.

So, are we waiting on the DM or is the DM waiting on us?

Jon will follow Jack and Bobin, as long as their ploy is obfuscated enough to Jon's simple mind.

Oops, I sorta though the opposite. Bobin's curiosity has currently got the better of him and he'll help Jack with whatever he needs.

Ok. Ideas? The best I can come up with is covertly try to charm the nobleman into accepting the ring and the key and letting us go unharmed. Another option is to flee (always plan B, sometimes plan A). Combat doesn't look like a good option, but I am open to your thoughts.

There are many ways out of this. As always. I believe combat to be one. Though a failed save vs whatever is on that scroll might be bad - but then on the other hand, maybe it's a light spell =D

There are, as stated, various merchants stalls, those would provide cover. You could simply charge the two guys guarding Trufaut - that exposes your backs to some guys, but it also reunites you with Bobin (depending on his exact choice of actions).

There are doors. You could intrude on someone's privacy, saving yourself from a lot of archer fire.

And then, obviously, you might be able to quite simply talk your way out.

You could also just give up the ring and key, and trust Trufaut to be an honorable guy and keep his word.

There's likely other options I haven't thought of.

Regardless, it feels like winning initiative would be a good idea =)

Jack (and I) would rather avoid a severe beating and the accompanying humiliation. I don't know if we can take them, but they might have a mighty rough time taking us.

Anyway, let's start with the basics: initiative - (1d20+4)[16]

Never forget - this is E6, and you're big heroes now. There are just a few who are as powerful as you, and these 8 guys? They're most likely not the ones.

I'll roll Listen and initiative for Bobin. I think, regardless of success on the listen check, moving behind Trufaut is the best option for Bobin, if only to serve as a distraction, and if it does come down to combat, it gives him the best position to help from. I'm guessing Trufaut and the guards don't know Bobin's whereabouts, but that is of course only an assumption. If Jack and Jon can stall, perhaps Bobin can (with some good rolls, so unlikely ) sneak up behind Trufaut and force him to back off.

    Listen - (1d20+10)[25]
    Initiative - (1d20+5)[12]

EDIT: Does success on the listen check mean that Bobin can hear Trufaut's voice specifically? (I guess he's the only one talking atm, so that would make sense, right?)

Success means you hear what he says and recognize his voice. It's just a quick trip through some random strangers rear staircase, out the front door, and Bobin is behind Trufaut. Like, 10' behind.

Ah, perfect. Bobin also has a smokestick that he could use to momentarily obscure Trufaut's vision, perhaps allowing Jack and Jon to dash past and join up with Bobin.

Well, in case the guy gets into Jon's range, fails his AoO, and manages to roll better than Jon: Resist disarm - (1d20+7)[13].
