So here we are folks, the final match. Today we have a matchup of underdogs. On one side is the skaven team of the Low-Down Dirty Rats, and on the other the vampires of the Bad Badenhof Bats. Neither team looked likely to make it this far, let alone qualify, way back at the all-star break; but here they are playing for the ultimate prize! It looks like the Bats have won the coin toss, and their electing to receive. The Rats line up and it looks like the skies have just opened up. The rain is starting to pour and the kick is away, Valerie von Streissenhower recovers the ball, and she moving cautiously forward, angling to the right wing.

The rats are coming forward, but the vampires are holding them back. It looks like LDR is attempting to flood the right wing and I don't think the vampires will be able to stand up to that many skaven. Valerie doesn't think so either- She's switching the field as she moves forward, and she's made it all the way to the left wing with rats in pursuit. She's moving into LDR territory, but she's not going to make it, she going to a lateral pass to Castiel- Castiel drops it! The ball was just too slippery.

The skaven hellstorm that flooded the right wing is falling back to the ball, and the vampires are coming with them. The scrum has paused to reposition itself, and now it's back on, but the skaven seem to be getting the upper hand! Here comes gutter runner Flash, and he's got the ball!

But Count von Ruyven is there with a solid punch to the face that Flash can't stop on account of tucking the ball away. That rat is down and seeing stars! The ball pops loose and into the hands of Castiel.

Castiel jukes- runs- and he's in! The Bats have scored on a shaky offensive drive that could very well have ended in disaster.

The Bats have lined up for the next kickoff, and it looks like the sky has cleared a bit. Hopefully the damp pitch won't hinder the two teams too much before it can burn off. Valerie sends the kick up, and Diggles 'Beast Mode' Bouldercod recovers the ball. Gutter runners are deploying and- Oh no! One of them was tripped up dodging into the Bat backfield. The Bats are counterattacking, and Diggles is in trouble! The gutter runners come back to break him free, but they just can't push Ruyven off him.

Diggles throws a fake punch with his extra arm and head fakes with his extra head- Ruyven is fooled and Diggles rolls away! He's got yet another gutter runner upfield and a clear path too him. Will we see another patented Diggles hand-off? He's stopping short- No! Diggles is hurling the ball forward. Screech picks up the ball in mid air, leaps, and he brings it down! Screech easily dodges Streissenhower, and he scores! The Low-Down Dirty Rats have tied the match at the halftime whistle!

After a brief break we return to you and LDR are lined up to receive. The kick is away, and Diggles Bouldercod has the ball.

He's angling to the right wing, but his gutter runners have failed him again, tripped up while trying to push into Triple-B territory. The Bats are counter attacking, and Diggles fends off a blitz. More Bats are coming to pile on, but the skaven are sending protectors of their own.

The vampires are coordinating their blocks- Diggles fends off another, but a shot from a thrall catches him dancing and he falls to the ground. Nobody can catch the bouncing ball as Diggles struggles to his feet, but here comes Titus Pulhoffer- He's got the ball!

Pulhoffer gets a block from Castiel and he breaks free. He's got open field in front of him and away he goes! He could go all the way! He does! Pulhoffer is in on a defensive touchdown! The Bats retake the lead!

Time is on the side of LDR though, and there is plenty of time for them to score and force overtime. Right now, I have to imagine that Valerie von Streissenhower is only thinking one thing- Keep the ball away from 'Beast Mode'. The kick is up, and yep- that was it. The ball flies short and to the left wing, right into the hands of Screech. Screech falls back and moves over to the heavily-defended right wing to buy some time.

But the vampires are pushing hard from the left. They've dropped Masher and are wrapping around through the gap left by Screech, and now they're within arm reach. The rats try to beat away the vampires to no avail, Screech has to dodge, but Castiel pulls him down by the scruff as he tries to dodge away! The ball's loose- the vampires recover! That's gonna be the match folks! The Bats win!

An amazing match ladies and gentlemen, the crowd is going absolutely wild. Who would have expected this team, the vampires, to be Cup Champions? Not I...Not I. The two teams are dusting themselves off and saying their goodbyes. Though the Bats walk away with the Cup, both of these teams leave with the distinction of being the final participants in what has become the most illustrious league on the GitP circuit. Congratulations are in order for both. Thank you for the magnificently played match, you warriors of the gridiron. Coach Aedilred has taken the field and is being presented the cup by...some really big black bird apparently. The Bats are hoisting him onto their shoulders, and Aedilred hoists the cup- the first- and the last- to do so. Amazing.

    Musings of the Commissioner

Being commissioner of this league has been a lot of fun over the years. This is only the second play-by-post game I have ever run. The first one was a noir detective adventure complete with love, murder, red herrings, corrupt cops, and a murder victim that by her own murder ended up playing everybody. The players loved it, and didn't see it coming! That I think is one of the great things about this league; that sometimes you just don't see things coming. Sometimes it slaps you upside the face, and other times it's like finding money in the street on a rainy day. I remember the anticipation of upcoming matches. Sometimes you needed those championship points. Other times you really needed to see somebody else win; or more accurately, someone else to lose. Every once in a while you weren't in it to win it, but were just praying that your team didn't get too beaten up in the process. One of my favorite things to see has been when rookies cut down big veteran opponents, even when it was my team getting cut down.

The league is a lot of work though. Season one match descriptions were a couple sentences about the general flow of the match. Just the facts, ma'am. Over time these have gotten longer. They are by far the most time-intensive part of running the league. For a while, we had some truly long narratives. Lately I have been trying to cut a compromise between Season one style descriptions, and the longer narrative-focused style. I hope it's working alright for everyone. Every season, I am pumped to start again, and then by the fifth week I'm like "Oh yeah, this is what it's like." as the workload starts to weigh on me. A lot of it probably comes from the schedule I chose way back in Season one. I'm super excited when both sides of a match get their updates and gameplans up right after inducements go out because that means I can sim it early. If I sim it early, I can write it up on Monday or Tuesday night, when I statistically have more time to do so. So thank you to you guys who do that. Not saying you're doing it wrong if you don't though. As long as we're on schedule I'm happy. Overall though, the work is worth it as long as all the players are having fun, and I hope that's the case.

Not running a team myself is weird. I've run teams all the way up until season 6. I've never been a fan of the 'DMPC'. I started the league running a Khemri team. Their intention was never to win, but to provide a foil for the players on their march for the cup. A big violent stumbling block that could crush bones and dreams. Unfortunately, being big and violent ended up being a good way to win in this league. They made the playoffs and were eliminated in the first season, then ended up winning it all in season two. Some of the people who were in the league then might remember that I said a commissioner-run team will never win the Cup again. It was still fun to play though, so for the following season I tried to come up with the worst, yet most interesting, team that I could. That was the Underworld roster. Kuroko was running as commissioner that season, so I didn´t have to sim any matches either. That was fun. Well as it turns out, when you watch as many of these matches as I do and start to learn the ins and outs of the AI, you can run a fairly bad looking roster pretty effectively. I had signed some free agents who were coming into their own, and the player we know as Kowen was just starting to shine. By the all-star break my underworld team was sitting at .500, plus a draw. Kuroko disappeared after that and I was forced to take over as Commissioner. My team ended up making it in on a wild card I think, and got predictably eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. In season 4 I ran a skaven team, using free agents from the old skaven teams and my own underworld team. They were pretty good. When it came to the playoffs though, they had some very good seeding that allowed them to get favorable matches leading up the the final. It looked like my end of season 2 promise was going to go down the drain. Luckily, a coach named Hellbug had made it to his third consecutive Final (in his third season no less). Hellbug bailed me out and his team dismantled mine. I ended up playing two more seasons with my Underworld team. In season 6 they actually made the final after I had signed them over to another coach. A questionable game plan helped them lose that one. So here in season 7, I just went the safe route. No team, no chance to steal some other coach's thunder. I miss having a team though. You guys better hope nobody gets orphaned, because I may just pick them up!

Not having a team does lead to some interesting situations to watch though. Sometimes I scratch my head at player development decisions. Why did they choose that skill? What are they trying to do with this guy? Why is this other dude even on the roster? Most of the time their wisdom comes through and as I watch the match I have these Ahah moments. "Now it all makes sense!" I'll think. Other times it is the gameplans that people come up with. Huh- Never would have tried that. Oh hey look it worked. It's fun to sit back and try to figure out what is going through the coaches' heads and what they're up to. It's really fun seeing some plan they set out on early in the season slowly take shape through the season. Sometimes you spot it early, and if I'm a coach, that informs my own decisions going forward. "I see what this dude is up to. His team is going to be really good in six weeks. I'm going to start doing *this* now, in order to counter him if we meet in the playoffs." I'm not the only one in this league that thinks like that, am I? Who knows- maybe I am. Also, as commissioner I have been guilty of poking my nose in other coaches' business somewhat. Some of you have gotten PM's through the season so far, with me suggesting this thing or that when I've seen your team struggling. Of course feel free to tell me to mind my own business!

Anyhow, once this last season is over- I think I'm going to walk away feeling that overall these seven seasons have been a good thing. I think a lot of people have had fun. I've had fun running things. I've gotten to see some great drama and expression from the league's many coaches, and I think most have had fun even when their teams had been a bit frustrating. Like that very first play by post I ran, more than anything else it has been the players, the amazing cast of coaches we have, that has made this league awesome. I may have been seeing things, but I truly believe some of these guys actually didn't like each other at times! There have been some veiled insults here and there; the occasional sniping between a couple- and I think in a way it sort of adds to the charm. Some dudes take the league seriously- and that comes out in how we deal with one another; and that's fun! I'm going to miss the banter and the strategizing. There aren't many forum games that can facilitate the type of analysis this one does. Digging into stats, weighing the long term benefits and interactions of development decisions on your team against the win that you *need* next week. Analyzing your opponents' win-loss records- "They lost against these guys; their team is kind of similar to mine- what did they do to beat them? Can I replicate it?" It's been a lot of fun. I don't know where I'm going to find another game like it, with so many fellow players that I like this much. Hell, I even enjoy writing about it. I like to refer to Murder! as my "E-sports blog" of sorts, lol. Thanks for the ride guys. It's not over yet- but we're getting there. I hope it's crazy.

    THE GUTTER PRESS
The magazine of the Low-down Dirty Rats.

    WEEK 10 - LIKE RATS...?
In the last couple of seasons as we've drawn to the end of the regular schedule the coach's office usually has a queue outside of players looking for a little more practice time or a chance to run a play they've developed hoping to be the one that makes the big difference and gets us that all-important play-off berth.

Not this year! With the impending match against Da Monsters this week, it seems that almost every single rat in the roster has been in to see me to request that they be swapped out; each with a story about heir skills that would benefit this team or that team, but in reality it is all about not being on the pitch when we gave our oldest rivals in a do or die (possibly quite literally) match.

We're just firming up the details but it looks like Da Monsters won't be the only orcs on the pitch this week, Screech is off to face the Bats with the Iron Boyz, hopefully bringing them plenty of TDs along the way, and LDR will be being joined by one or other of the Berts to beef up our line and give us some room to move the ball around.

I've let the rest of the players know how I feel about loyalty and courage so hopefully we will see a unified team out there this week, ready (as ever) to put their bodies on the line for a few coins and the chance to become a star!

    WEEK 9 - CRUNCH TIME!
    Spoiler
    Show
It would seem that we are now almost three quarters of the way through this final season of the league and we still have only a win and a draw under our belts. The loss of some of our favourite players has been a real blow and whilst the new guys are settling in quite well, I can't help but feel that the nature of this season means that some of them have got one eye on the future and perhaps this is keeping them from really committing to the tackles and such?

Also; it seems that Nuffle, and any other god you care to mention, still fails to smile on the our rats; last week we couldn't catch a cold! In an effort to address this I have asked the Tanyas to look in to ways of influencing our luck and as a result all of our players will be wearing some sort of magical amulet this week; I haven't asked to which God they belong, sometimes things are better left unknown, but they do bear a striking resemblance to a certain mummified, severed head!

With four games left in the regular season, it is still possible that we could get the fabled 5 wins required for a chance at the playoffs, but given: a) the current points within Division A; and b) the matches we have left to play; it does seem like merely a mathematical exercise.

Still, perhaps our newly-purchased luck can see us through?

LOW-DOWN DIRTY RATS – SEASON VII MID-SEASON REPORT
    Spoiler
    Show

    Looking Back

Week 1 – Legends of Jam
We tried to out-pass the elves and it almost worked, three touchdowns in the same game gave us hope that the new strategy of “score-at-all-costs” would work.

    Week 2 – Iron Boyz

We underestimated the power of the rookie orcs and it hurt us; one touchdown and a serious injury to one of the toughest rats on the team.

Week 3 – Bad Badenhof Bats

Against the uncertainty that the Bats are turning out to be this season, again we thought we had the edge in the air and on the ground, relying on our speed to dance around the thralls and keep away from the Vamps; needless to say it didn’t work! We lost our most experienced, and highest scoring, Gutter Runner and Dangerous Beanz took a big hit that slowed the big guy down.

Week 4 – Bloody and Raging Killers

Not only did we lose this, we failed to score; something that we haven’t done in a long time (week 11 of season VI to be exact) and only the fourth time in three seasons (plus once in the Season V playoffs); and against a bunch of plodding orcs to boot! To add insult to injury, literally, Dangerous Beanz’ broken neck made him just too slow to get out of the way of a big hit and he landed with a sickening crunch bringing to an end the career of one of the most popular players on the team. We can all remember back at the start of Season V when young Beanz ran out against Selene’s Seductive Strut only to be wheeled from the pitch with a badly broken leg (although he was one of the luckier ones that day); and the day he returned from Doctor Badgers laboratory under the Naked Singularity stadium a changed rat.

Week 5 – Three Moon Strikers

Switching tactics to concentrate on hitting people paid off against the dark elves of TMS; whilst we worked hard in defence it was not enough to prevent 2 touchdowns against us; luckily our offensive creed paid off and we walked away with a pocket full of TDs again for our first win of the season.

Week 6 – Da Biffeddodle Balldroppers

Even with their performance to date, you might excuse all of us here at LDR of being a little nervous going in to our last match of the first half of the season. Halflings are notoriously hard to tackle and our defending hasn’t exactly been stellar this year. Add to the almost $700k of inducements (the only up-side of losing DB and Scutter was to keep that figure down) and we could have had a problem on our hands. Thankfully the rats kept their heads and ran in another trio of TDs giving us all a much-needed confidence boost, but still leaving us languishing at the bottom of Division A with an uphill struggle against the more experienced teams in the league ahead.

    Looking Ahead
As previously mentioned we have a mountain to climb if we are going to qualify for the play-offs again (having done so in both previous seasons).

Week 8 – Sultans of Slaughter

We’ve faced the Nurgle team once before and come off worse (one of those few times we’ve failed to score); but we think we’ve got the measure of bashy teams now so we’re hoping that things will go better this time around.

    Week 9 – Brillianté

At the start of the season we would have tipped these Elves to run away, literally, with Division A but they’ve struggles to find their feet against fast teams, their wins coming against heavier teams (and the halflings). Hopefully they will keep to form and not be able to match the speed of our rats and we can replicate the result they had against Ultimate Feet in week 2.

Week 10 – Da Monsters of Da Midden

Including the warm-up game before Season V, we’ve played these orcs 3 times and had all possible outcomes with only one TD between the teams in each victory. Expect this grudge match to be tight; we haven’t done well against orcs all season and these orcs are as tough as they come, and it’s player swap week to boot!

Week 11 – Murder, Arson, Jaywalking

Another tough team we will likely be fighting for a play-off spot. We’ve moved on from a draw early in Season V when we were rebuilding the team after the Doc tore us apart, to a close win towards the end of Season VI. We’re hoping that we can run rings round the daemons this time, just in case points difference or match results play a part in deciding the all-important play-off berth.

    Week 12 – Ultimate Feet

And so it comes to pass that we are rounding out the last regular season of the cup against our old rivals, and closest friends, the team that combines all the rattiest bits of Sweet Feet and the Strut back under a single banner. The Feet are having an amazing season, their only negative is a battering from the Iron Boyz. If this is the end of our season, at least we can go out with a rat-based score-fest; I’m sure Krusty and Kowen will have lot to catch up about after the match!

    Final Musings
It has been a brutal season for LDR so far; we had hoped that after the hard start of Season V and the relative success of Season VI that this might actually be the year that we came good. However; we all know that rat lives come cheap, even if some of our players don’t, and I am sure that we can play the rest of the season in a way that will make our lost team-mates proud as they look up from the great compost heap in to which we must all eventually pass.

The Rain, Weasel, Dangerous Beanz, Scutter we hope we can make you proud!

To all our former players, please come down and support the team; catch up with former team-mates, chat to the new guys, have a drink (or more) with the Tanya’s and let’s end this final season as a true rat swarm all together in a chaotic bundle of activity!

    WEEK 2
    Spoiler
    Show

Three touchdowns not enough against Elves!

The Rats faced the elves last week, with both sides running and passing ball seemingly at will; and crossing in to the end zone just as easily. A thrilling event for the fans, apart from those prefer to see blood and guts.

Despite running in three outstanding touchdowns we still came away with a loss, but with no new injuries and a confidence that against any other team our new approach to the game has a strong chance of working.

This week - The (Iron) Boyz are Back in Town!

This week Dark Tail is hoping that The Rats can not only throw and run the ball in to the end zone, but also keep themselves out of the powerful clutches of the bruising orcs of the Iron Boyz. Expect to see speed across the entire pitch and a swarm of rats around each and every Orc trying to carry the ball.

    Editor's prediction - LDR 3-0 IB

    WEEK 1
    Spoiler
    Show

Okay rat fans, here we are at the start of the final season of the GitP Bloodbowl Cup; the LDR are back after their short lay-off run and coaches Dark Tail and Krusty are determined to put on a show this year! The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that the coaching staff has been pared down this year; a deliberate decision by Dark Tail to focus on offensive activities in an attempt to simply put more points on the board that any opposition can hope to counter, ”The best defence is a good offense!”

LDR face the Legends of Jam this week, with the Elves looking a little rusty having been out of the league for a couple of years. With Dark Tail’s new focus on offense, can the rats out run, pass and catch the lithe and limber elves? Only time will tell.

In related news, the change to the divisional structure this season means that LDR will be facing the only other rats in the league, Ultimate Feet, in a Divisional clash in the final week of the season in what could turn out to be a veritable touchdown frenzy.

LDR find themselves in the unusual position of (currently) being favourites in all of their pre-break matches under the new structure; hopefully the rookie teams can learn something from our offense and apply it to some of our divisional rivals as well as perhaps knocking a few lumps out of said rivals at the same time!

The second half of the season sees LDR playing all of their old foes from across the Divisions with some old scores to settle and the all-important play-off slots at stake.

    • Can our intrepid rats put a record number of touchdowns on the board in a single match?
    • Can they take the record for most number of touchdowns in a season?
    • Can they all stay alive, and unharmed, until the play-offs?
    • Has Dark Tail got it all wrong?

    Who knows?

To find out, tune in next week; same rat time, same rat channel!

    Mid Season Report:

    Blood Ilustrated

Special Dossier: Brillanté Mid Season Ramblings

It has certanly been an eventful half season for Cup Holders and woodslands favourites Brillanté, and there's a lot to discuss and dissect, so let's get down to it right away:

    Offense:

Salvat is the man. He can score everyway, everyday, and without him, Brillanté is not much more than a rabble of angry elves. Betty has been specially angry and, above all, not at all effective except in a couple of matches. JLW is making stuff happen, and his partership with Salvat is probably second to none in the league.

    Defense:

Bloomberg is the man, but it is not enough. The offense has a good record on account of Salvat, but Bloomberg's incredible efforts on defense are not enough to make a case for Brillanté's defense being adecuate, especially against other passing teams, where the Wardancers and experienced linemen should shine (Spoilers: They don't)

    Management:

Xapi has been slow to keep the team TV in check, and he has waited until his hand was forced to drop some of his high value and low return linemen. Team reports have been almost non existant. In the Gameplan front, his efforts have been rather good though.

    Results:

A really not so good start, with a defeat against Ultimate Feet that stings, although it was a possibility, and a very harsh defeat against a rookie team, mainly in lieu of the Jam's offensive power and Brillanté's defensive uselessnes, specially outside of the Bloomberg controlled line of scrimmage. However, the team has picked up steam with a convincing win against 3MS (we should remember that a Dark Elf team was the first to break Brillanté's undefeated record last season), and specially another really big win against division favourites Monsters make things look a little brighter for the coming future.

    Propects:

Although the start of the season had a few rough patches, we believe Brillanté has a not so bad record, and they haven't lost any key players although they faced two orc teams already (but there's still one more orc, and a Nurgle team coming up). So we believe that the elves are likely to make it to the semifinals, where all bets are off.

    Spoiler: Week 1

Leaf News Network: The News that Matter in the Woods

Rick Branch: Welcome again, after that thrilling message from our sponsors. Who knew termites could be so bad? I sure didn't! and with me for this section is our sports correspondant, Alan Roundwood. Alan, it's good to see you again after the off season.

Alan Roundwood: Thanks Rick, it's great to see you too. And you know, although folks at home haven't seen me either, I have to tell you, I've been working a lot during this off season, and so has Xapi, coach of Cup holders Brillanté. The most resounding news is that Brillanté has dropped Rookie Treeman Sageclot, to give way to an incredible signing: Superstar Treewoman Bloomberg is going to take the field with the white and green shirt in this, the final season of GITP Blood Bowl. Her experience on the field is unmatched, so we expect great things from her in the coming weeks.

RB: And is that all that is new in the Wood Elf camp?

AR: Not at all Rick, Xapi also brought a rookie Wardancer, Honey Bite, replacing Dew, who, reports say, was found by Dwarven law enforcement trying to sneak mushrooms into Hobbit territory.

RB: Old habits die hard, eh?

AR: Indeed. So, we come to the first match of the season, against rookie team The Iron Boyz. Now, we know Brillanté, and they deliver the win when push comes to shove, but Coach Xapi shouldn't take any chances. You must remember what happened in Brillanté's own debut match, a season ago, when they upset veteran team Murder, Arson and Jaywalking. In this case, I think the question that will tell you how the match will go is: Will the elves be standing up straight when the final whistle blows? Xapi has cut it real close with an 11 elves roster to have cash for Salvat and Bloomberg's fat paychecks, and a couple of early injuries could really hurt Brillanté's gameplan.

RB: You herd it here first folks, our commentator predicts Brillanté going down. Are you taking notes, Betty?

AR: No, wait, that's not what I...

RB: And that's all the time we have for sports. Up next, the weather report, with our expert, Linda Green

    Musings from the Midden

    Midseason Musings

So we've come to the halfway point of the season and Da Monsters are off to a solid start at 4-2. Solid, but could easily have been better. The 4 wins are against teams that are a collective 6-17-1, and the two losses come against teams with a combined record of 7-4-1. Considering Brillante had looked vulnerable at times early this season, a win in week 6 would have been a huge bonus, and would have meant the difference between being tied for second in the division (and the league overall) or sitting at fifth in the division.

The team has put up 10 touchdowns thus far, with Klaw Kolish accounting for 4 of them, along with a league-leading rush total of 272 yards. Samurai Narthug has been the next biggest offensive weapon, netting 2 TDs and 100 yards. Not bad offensive numbers for a grinding team.

Defensively the team has been a bit more porous than in years past, allowing 7 scores already this year...many to rookie teams. Strength remains the overwhelmingly biggest asset of Da Monsters. They continue to bruise the opposition with over 20 casualties inflicted and 7 opponents slain outright through 6 games. 29 kockouts, the majority provided by hitters with Mighty Blow, suggest that those numbers could be even higher with a little bit more fortune. Considering that a number of opponents have also been hurt (or killed!) attempting to dodge away from the orc line means that Da Monsters reputation is a bonus on the field as well!

From an individual standpoint, Klaw Kolish has been a brilliant surprise. His increased mobility has certainly been the cause, and as Coach Hallaz has put the ball in his hands, the team has been rewarded. In addition to the gaudy (by orc standards) TD and rushing numbers, Klaw has no doubt benefited from his training in hitting opponents to help keep him on his feet. Krot Fortunato, brother of the Snotling Derby champ and Defensive Player of the Year Icebox Grot has really shown his lineage and mettle, putting up 7 casualties, 9 knockouts and two clean kills in his first 6 matches of the season. Biggz Nagurski has shown some bloodthirst as well, killing two opposition orcs in a single match...and then came back from the brink of death in a match with the third orc team in the league. Depending on his performance in the second half we may see our literal Come Back Player of the Year!

Samurai Narthug and Icebox Grot are certainly off their numbers from previous seasons, accounting for only about 20 Star Player Points...10 of which came via match MVP awards. Still, their presence and support are certain to have a positive impact on the field, and the numbers will likely shine through in the second half. The same can't be said for what Da Monsters staff refer to as "The Experiment". With a huge pile of cash and a desire to keep Da Monsters completely in-house (so not buying in big money ex players), ownership elected to spend their stadium fund on a rookie troll named Buh. While he came highly touted from the raiding circuit, he just has taken to the game of Bloodbowl as had been hoped. Perhaps in an earlier stage in Da Monsters development he could have had the time to settle in and learn the game, but here in season VII he has simply been a source of inducement money and mockery from other teams. Responsible for 660,000 in inducement dollars (plus his initial investment of 110,000), Buh has inflicted 2 casualties and zero knockouts. On top of that, he has been injured twice himself, and knocked out two additional times. Hardly a banner performance. Fans of Da Monsters will long debate the impact of bringing the troll on board, and wonder at the outcomes of those two losses had he not been present on the team.

From a league-wide perspective, it is nice to see a full mix of strength and agility teams. It isn't too surprising that Ultimate Feet are at the top of the heap, and their stars are showing why they are names known throughout the land. The Sultans of Slaughter might be the surprise of the first half, rocketing out to a 5-1 record and punishing opposing teams. Those chaos mutations and (un)natural hardiness are not to be ignored! BARK and The Iron Boyz hold two of the top three positions in Division B, each posting excellent showings against veteran teams. Brillante and Legends of Jam are hanging around, and if they can avoid debilitating injury are still certainly a threat for serious impact through the second half of the season. As it should be, things still look wide open, and the playoff format rewarding division play should lead to some interesting matchups!

    Spoiler: Weeks 5 & 6
    Show
Since we missed Week 5, I thought it might be a good idea to get a jump on things and do Week 6 right now!

The past three games have been kind of a funny roller coaster for Da Monsters. A loss against a young orc team despite laying out a lot of harm...5 casualties, 5 KOs, even took out the opponent's troll. But the...plodding...nature of the orcs coupled with a funny bounce or two led to that punished orc team winning by a TD. The following week against a successful scoring team - naturally one with much less armor and stoutness - Da Monsters again laid the wood, racking up another 5 casualties and 6 KOs (or was it the other way around) and notching a win. So that brings us to Week 5's match against the other young orc team. The Iron Boyz have had some good skillups, getting early Strength boosts and making good use of them. This time around, Da Monsters were more like Da Pillow Fighters, only causing one casualty...but still managing to win the match. This can be a pretty funny game!

Now the focus begins to shift, and Da Monsters will be playing more veteran teams. That means Da Monsters will be taking a hard look at TV. Way to much being handed out in inducements already, and while I don't think it has hurt the team, the margin has been too narrow already. I wanted to get a 2000 team value, and its happened. Now, though, the effective team value needs to be considered. Brillante comes up next, featuring great speed, high skill and a big bad tree. Most of which Da Monsters are supposed to be adept at handling (see those 10 guys with Tackle? This kind of match is why they are there!) but a couple good rolls by the elves or bad rolls by Da Monsters will create too much of an early lead for the plodding to overcome.

I continue to be happy with "Klaw" Kolish and his ability to move the ball. I know the only reason he tops the rushing chart is because the speedy teams all toss the ball, but rushing yards equals ball possession, so I'm hoping the trend continues. It seems my two biggest stars - "Icebox" Grot and "Samurai" Narthug have been fairly quiet so far this season. I don't expect that trend to continue, though. Eventually their skill sets will shine through and they'll earn their keep. At least I hope so! I can't imagine dropping either of them, but in the final push for the final season...anything is possible!

Well, let's hope we can make some elf-burgers this coming week...grilled over that special Treeperson fuel!

    Spoiler: Week 4
    Show
So Da Monsters laid out 5 casualties, killing 3 orcs and (temporarily) crippling a troll...added an additional 5 KOs...and still lost. All while taking no injuries of note. Under all reasonable circumstances one would expect that the team that laid out that hurt against another strength-based team would walk away with a significant win. Barring the injuries all being meted out in the last couple turns of the second half, anyway. Funny how that oblong ball bounces some times.

Nice that Buh finally got on the stat sheet. He's been a huge benefit for opponents, handing over inducement cash while either straddling the bench or serving as a speed bump on the field. While there are absolutely times, both in Blood Bowl and regular football, when a player can have a huge impact on the game without showing it on the stat sheet...on a team with Samurai, Icebox, Fortunato and all the rest, it is unlikely that Buh has had much of a chilling effect on opposing teams. I keep waiting for him to eat Skirtz.

Skill development for the team continues in a plodding, methodical and orc-like fashion. They all get better and grabbing, hitting and hurting other players. In the tabletop version of the game it really is a lot of fun to play an Orc team with a developed passing game. Sure, it takes some luck to get a doubles or AG boost, but stretching the field with a passing attack while you can still knock most teams sideways is a lot of fun. I just don't think that's quite as solid an option in simmed games...I know the Fancy Lads were able to move the ball well, but unless I am mistaken that still was run based.

So this week Da Monsters face a skill-team with tissue paper armor. Sure, they can Dodge but all except a couple Monsters can Tackle. If the RNG favors Da Monsters, the hospital (and perhaps the morgue) could see a lot of Jam this week. If not...well, I expect the KO count to still be high. Foolish prediction: A Black Orc makes an interception. Already seen this season it might well be repeated!

Random Thought: One thing I have certainly grown more appreciative of over these three seasons in GitP Blood Bowl is the danger of mutations...some of those are just brutal to manage...Claws, Tentacles, I'm looking at you...particularly when combined with the traditional smash-mouth skills. It might turn out that some of the rookie teams have a surprise advantage going into the playoffs if the bruisers in Division A chew each other apart through a combination of strength and mutation skills!

    Spoiler: Week 3
    Show
Da Monsters continued their KO parade this past week, knocking another 10 opposing players into Mandatory Concussion Protocol. At least this time they also notched 5 real casualties so they were putting those skills and big mitts to proper use. Despite all that, though, they only managed 2 touchdowns and rumor has it the halflings nearly scored near the end of the match. By then they shouldn't have had enough players to take the field! The array of SPPs gained was nice, but Buh remained sadly absent, perhaps a casualty of Da Monsters own success. The Troll isn't earning his keep (and not even getting the chance to earn!) and if that doesn't change soon the big inducement hole that is Buh may have to be reallocated.

This week features orc-on-orc violence, or as it is otherwise known, another day in orcdom. A rookie orc team isn't to be ignored under most circumstances, and when they have $630k in inducements and a couple of weeks experience under their belt (that included an MVP for a big hitter) you better pay attention! A couple of bad rolls (or good rolls for the bad guys) and a 600+ point Team Value difference can evaporate in a hurry. Coupled with the beneficial inducement load and this should be a big-hitting affair. Shrinking the BARK troll is an interesting decision to be sure...let's see if that plays a part in the outcome!

It's been interesting to see the interdivisional matchups early on. Sure, the Division A folks have dominated the victory column, running up a 7-1-2 record , but the matches have been a bit closer than I expected with only a 10-TD differential (and only 6 TDs if you discount the bags of SPPs that the Halflings generally portray), so it seems the inducements and some quality players/managers has ameliorated the huge TV difference. Let's see if that trend continues this week! I'm especially eager to see how the result predictions play out!

Well, that was closer than it should have been. It is certainly rough giving up so much in inducement money...and while I really doubt the Troll Buh will ever pull his own weight, it felt better to spend the money than to leave it sit in the treasury to be used for random inducements, flukey star players or random expenditures during the year. Since I didn't need to save it for a stadium, and I was full up on blitzers and black orcs, that was the only way to go!

So, the match against the rookie Dark Elves was a close win (but most all orc victories will be close in the score, I suspect), and the casualty level was lower than anticipated. Certainly the Naggaroth elves wear heavier gear than their other kin, but it isn't like they clank on the field. Three casualties and "only" five knockouts with Da Monsters skill load and six players sporting strength of 4 or better has to be seen as a little underwhelming. Krot notched another 2 KOs, and I have to believe that over the past couple seasons he has to be at/near the top of the KO leader board. Speaking of casualties, Da Monsters absorbed two...but the Dark Elves only notched one. Thus, either Mongo or Skirtz hurt themselves tripping over their green feet. Typical! Nice to see some ball movement, though, with Klaw and Samurai getting it done. Goodness knows Mac Wazgor was a huge disappointment in that arena. Let's see if Coach Hallaz can turn Klaw into a scoring threat.

We've got the halflings this week, and once again we pass out a huge pile of inducement money. There's really no way that should be enough to give the halflings a competitive chance...which of course means this might be the week the orcs implode. A big pile of short guys with Dauntless and Diving Tackle might short-circuit Da Monsters ability to Sure, they'll take a ton of furry-footed carcasses with them, but TDs are how the game is won, and we could certainly see a 0-1 loss for Da Monsters. Still, I think we'll see another 2-1 (or more likely, 2-0) win for the bruisers. I kind of feel like a bully with the potential to make it really rough on these Division B teams, but as Crow said, better for them to face the bruisers early and have some time to recover.

So a new...and final...season is upon us. I've really enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of the GitP Blood Bowl Manager Cup the past couple of rounds. I only wish I could have found this long ago!

I fondly remember buying the Blood Bowl bookcase boxed game nearly 30 years ago as a high school student. I loved the idea but never really got to play the game. My friends (and to be fair, myself included) were much more interested in spending our game time on RPGs or the Milton Bradley big box games like Axis & Allies, Shogun and Fortress: America. Fast forward about a decade and I found myself playing WHFB and WH40K (and painting models!) and reading White Dwarf again. And there, big as life, was an ad for the all-new Blood Bowl. Several teams, a few leagues and a ton of fun later, I was well-hooked.

This new group of friends played everything under the sun. We built rules for drafts across species, we played tournaments and leagues, and we had a blast. The first computer simulation was a big hit too...especially how the casualties were shown...even if the death rate was slightly higher than it should have been. Okay, a lot higher.

I bought both the Xbox and PC versions of the next iteration as well, and while they certainly added depth, they never could quite replicate the fun of the 3rd edition boxed set and the surprise of the Dirty Tricks, the timely Wizards or the agony of double-1-ing and knowing it was a true roll of the dice rather than the far-too-frequent occurrence in the computer games. Plus, you don't get to paint the models in the simulations. If you do, it makes it hard to see other things on the screen.

I've never been a big fan of the bash-and-grind teams in "real" games, but I sure did enjoy the dwarves in the computer version. That, coupled with the naming idea, brought me to playing orcs in the GitP cup. Funnily enough, I was never a Chicago Bears fan (quite the opposite, in fact, given where I grew up), but I latched on to the theme. So, take a commonly used name in NFL broadcasts, sprinkle in some big green models, a pinch of punnism and shake with a touch of theme obsession, and you have...Da Monsters of Da Midden.

Apologies in advance to anyone squashed by my players - halflings, skaven...mostly looking at you guys - but not to worry. My bloated team value and lack of offense should provide you with plenty of fun inducements and more than a few big "upset" wins.

Good luck to all of you, and endless thanks to Crow for making this happen!

The final season of the GitP Blood Bowl Manager League got off to a bang, at least statistically, with an unusual number of impressive performances for the first week of a season, including the breaking of some of the oldest standing records in the league.

Both old hands and new faces were in evidence this week, as Bloomberg celebrated her return to an elven roster with a casualty, while the somewhat unlikely figure of Karn of Clan Tergoth claimed the league's first interception, from Brillanté's Mist. In an otherwise pretty stultifying match, the Sultans' Maximinius put in an impressive running performance to take a top five place in both star player points and rushing yards. In a matchup between the veteran Murder, Arson and Jaywalking and newcomers BARK, rookie orc Murhd Shick notched up four casualties, including a kill, equalling the league record for casualties in a single match in a performance that in any other week would likely have made headlines.

But the real fireworks started in the Feet-Balldroppers game over at the ruins of the Naked Singularity. Before the game had even got started, the first record was broken, with the halflings paid over a million gold pieces just to turn up, the most ever for a managed team. Meanwhile the crowd packed into the makeshift stands, only a thousand short of the highest ever recorded attendance, clearly eager to see how the rookie Balldroppers would cope against one of the most experienced teams in league history.

Although You-Know-Who failed to make much of an impact on the game aside from stretching his already-considerable lead in all-time KOs, his old buddy Stinger led the charge in a massacre which broke records going right back to the first season: notching up the highest casualty total against a managed team both individually and collectively, and taking top spot in the star player points table to boot. Thanks to one lucky hit by Pistik Largepants to take down Brave Bart, this match also saw the joint-highest aggregate casualties of any match, and the most anywhere since the playoffs of Season III. Amongst all the stretcher-bearers running off to remove mangled halflings, it almost escaped notice that Fitfirit Voliera Esbum somehow managed to knock out two Skaven before joining his mates in intensive care, and improbably take the joint-top spot in knockouts for the week.

Not letting themselves be outdone, the other Skaven team the Low-Down Dirty Rats, and their elven opponents the Legends of Jam, followed this with a thriller of their own, though this time it was all with ball in hand. Ingorian Windglaive coolly demonstrated that he'd lost nothing in his time away from the league, throwing three passes to take top spot in the completions table. At the other end, Bacha Marmalade proved a valuable newcomer for the elves, collecting the ball and running in three touchdowns to become the week's top scorer. The Rats responded with an impressive running show, three of their gutter runners finding the endzone, and Screech topping the table for rushing yards for the week. At full time, seven touchdowns had been scored, a record for competitive matches in the league, and the most ever seen in normal time.

    League Leaders - Week 4

They say that form is temporary, but class is permanent, and any who might have been doubting that were given cause to reconsider this week. After three utterly forgettable opening matches, Kowen finally put in the display expected of a player of his calibre, in what is almost certainly the best all-round performance ever seen in the league. In addition to equalling the record for most ever casualties in a match, he stormed into the lead for star player points this season, while also overtaking Sessrumnir's record for all-time league top scorer and extended his own healthy leads in both all-time kills and knockouts.

Elsewhere it is no surprise to see that elves feature heavily in the completions chart, with Tristan Tritium the only non-elf to manage more than one so far this season, while Stinger continues his run at the top of the casualties chart, closely tailed by "Fortunato" Krot, who also heads the league for knockouts this season. The rushing table continues to look somewhat unlikely, with three orcs, a beastman and a vampire in the top five, but then with many of the elves so proficient in the air and the Skaven so far struggling for much of a season perhaps that shouldn't be so much of a surprise.

Legends of Jam Mid-Season Pledge Drive

Hello, my name is Clarkson. Thank you for joining us during this very trying time. Many of the players on the Legends of Jam are close to being ready to learn something new, but we lack the funds and facilities to teach them. Therefore, we'll be broadcasting live with some of your favorite elfball players until we've raised the funds we set forward as goals. So donate, or I'll see if I still have enough pull with Bloodbranch, Standy, and Guardy to get them to start breaking things. Just to be clear, here's our goals

If we can pull in $10,000 we'll send Ienora Hokahey and Ingorian Windglaive to the All-Star Match.
If we can get $30,000 Ienora will pull double duty and attend the Grintoof Snotling Derby.
If we can get $50,000 Ingorian and Macha will get their acts together and attend Aedilred's Longball Derby.
If we can get $60,000 Ingorian and Macha will put in some practice before the Derby and we'll see if they can't use something to be put to use there.
If we can get $75,000 Aacha will put some time in alongside Macha and we'll see if she can't be of more use when we play the Balldroppers.
When we reach $100,000 Nechtan and Hallind will work alongside Dagda and we'll get them some basic training on staying on their feet or at least taking someone with them.
Should we reach $500,000 (Ha) I'll see about putting this equipment to use for something other than gaining money in a pledge drive and hire some out of work "Stars" to man it on a weekly basis.

On a more personal basis, should you donate, then we'll see about avoiding the aforementioned Dwarven/Tree muggings, and I won't have Ingorian practice his aim for the derby on your head.

As the donations start rolling in, I'm going to bring in the person in charge of being the voice of this pledge drive, Merry Brandybuck.

"Hello everyone! For those of you who don't remember me, I was one of the big three that carried Treeman's Triumph to our Crud! Cup loss last year, with the other two being much larger than me, Bloomberg and Deeproot Strongbranch. Now that the new halfling team decided against bringing me on I'll be running this pledge drive. To start with, I'd like to bring Ingorian Windglaive out to speak of the Legend's season thus far!

So far, the season has been going fairly well. We've had a pretty difficult schedule, but have come out with wins against the Low Down Dirty Rats, The Bad Battenhof Bats, and last season's champions, Brilliante. We've never not scored, though we've only gotten one touchdown in three of our matches. That said, we've also put in four touchdowns in the same match twice. With a total of thirteen touchdowns through six games it puts us at second total touchdowns behind Brilliante who we held to no touchdowns, and who have played against the halflings who aren't exactly the best on defense.

However, our defense hasn't exactly been the best, allowing eleven touchdowns in the six matches we've played. Unfortunately, these have been much better spread out than our own touchdowns, meaning we aren't able to leverage our offense as well as our opponents are able to leverage our relative lack of defense. Hopefully as our linemen begin to pick up some skills we'll be better able to hold our own.

Since it seems like you're winding down, mind if I ask you which match was your favorite so far this season?

Sure. It was probably our first match against Low Down Dirty Rats. It was pretty awesome coming off of four seasons on the sideline into a big match against a veteran team known for their ability to score and then manage to outscore them. It wasn't the prettiest game, but both the fans and the players enjoyed it.

Well, thanks for talking to me. Now for Clarkson for a report on how the fundraising has been going.

I'm hiring Bloodbranch to go out and convince some people to donate. As such, all the goals will have to increase by $50,000. That also means that the one goal we met with the $12000 in donations is no longer met. Better donate some more.

Well, I'm glad that I'm providing a valuable service. We'll now go to the man who'll be representing the Legends at two events should we meet the goals for it, Ienora Hokahey!

Thanks Merry. Clarkson told me to talk about where the team is going, and what the plan is for the remainder of the season. We're heading into what some would call the easier part of the season. We'll be facing five rookies and the Skaven of Ultimate Feet. While some of those rookies have shown themselves to be very good, mainly the two orcish teams, the rest of the division hasn't had the best start, and we should have a good shot at getting one of the top three slots in Division B. Sadly, if the rankings at the end of the first half hold true that will be our only way to have a shot at getting to the playoffs, as the wild cards have all gone to the veteran teams that have padded their scores with matches against rookie teams. As long as the injuries don't continue to pile up and we figure out how to punch through the defenses of the bashier teams we should be set for a decent playoff run. That said, if we fold in this second half, it's likely that we've done well enough that we won't get to even play for the Crud! Cup. So that's some motivation to do well.

What match are you most looking forward to?

Probably the match against the Ultimate Feet. We had an excellent match against the Low Down Dirty Rats, but the Ultimate Feet are a much more mature team, and with Leiriel at the helm it's sure to be a good match. Plus I've never played against Kowen before, so I'll finally get to see how I stack up to him in what some would call an off season. That said, he's been picking up his game as the season has moved on, so maybe by the time we play he'll finally be fully back.

    Wow, bold words.

Yup. Maybe it'll get him going for our game. Plus, I never said we would win it, just that it should be a good match.

All right then. Back to Clarkson for another update.

Bloodbranch has been worth it. We've had a total of $82,000 donated. That'll be enough to attend the Snotling Derby and the All Star Match. We've still got a ways to go to get everyone the training they need, but as long as everyone continues to donate at this rate we won't have to hire Standy and Guardy.

Well, we'll toss it over to Healy to talk about the overall health of the team.

Ya know, when Clarkson first approached me I was expecting this to be maybe a couple of seasons. And I'd only be working with Dwarves. To be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing, and have been faking it for the last two seasons. That said, whatever I'm doing seems to be working, as the only serious injuries I haven't been able to deal with have been dealt with by having them sit out for a couple of matches.

Wait, why in the world would he let you try to help us? Oh Nuffle, what was he thinking? I was wondering why your treatment for that time when Experiment Four stepped on my leg was to hit my head with Hammers.

That's not how one deals with that?

Okay, get out. Clarkson, where's the donation at?

We're up to $134,000. We still need a bit more to get our facilities for training Linemen up to date. And a lot more to get this equipment some more use.

Out of curiosity, what's going to happen to the extra money if we wind up between goals?

I'll probably just wind up keeping it. I'm not allowed to give to the team, and this technically isn't official. So yeah.

Okay, let's just move on then. As far as I know there's just the one more guest. Aacha Marmalade, the newest catcher.

Hey everyone, Clarkson decided to let me bring news of the current development of the team, as well as the plans for the future on that front. We've done fairly well skilling up our positionals, as only Dagda will be lacking the experience to learn or have learned a skill. The linemen are lagging behind a bit, but that's to be expected. As the season progresses hopefully Dagda will pick something up from Ienora. I personally think he's just star-struck. Other than that, we'll just keep putting more points on the board.

Thanks for the input. Back to Clarkson to wrap this up.

Well, apparently some of my old players are feeling spiteful. We're up to $550,000 exactly. So I guess I don't even get to keep any of the cash, which was the entire reason I did this, and I need to hire some people to keep doing this. Merry, you good to keep doing this?

I'm not doing anything else. So sure. Just get me a partner so I'm not doing this alone next time.

Fine. From all of us here at the Legends of Jam, thank you and good night.

Murder, Arson, & Jaywalking Mid-Season Report
    Performance
Historically, Khorne Teams have not done well in this league. Crow has suggested that Murder, Arson & Jaywalking has been ‘project’ team longer than any team in league history. Of course, Crow also said that that if we didn’t win in week I, our season was already over. Well, we didn’t win week I but the season is far from over. Murder, Arson & Jaywalking is tied for 3rd in division A going into the All-Star break. That sounds like moderate success but that statistic doesn’t tell the whole story. Division A, made up of all veteran teams, is incredibly strong this year. The top four Division A teams have more points that the top Division B team. Based on that stat alone, I would guess that division A teams take both of the playoff wildcard spots. If that turns out to be true, only one Division A team will miss the cut and I’m confident that team isn’t going to be Murder, Arson & Jaywalking. I think we have a real shot at the Cup- and I don’t mean the Crud! Cup.

    Offense
Offensive performance has been tepid. We’ve scored only seven points in six matches. That number has been enough to put MAJ wins in the standings, but only by virtue of a tremendous defensive effort. Star Bloodletter Chord Horrid has failed to put up significant numbers this season whereas the less experienced Madcap Chad has been the playmaker. I’d like to see more here, but I don’t know how to make that happen.

    Defense
This is an area where Murder, Arson & Jaywalking has really shined this season. We’ve given up only four points in six matches- a league low matched only by the our Nurgle counterparts, the Sultans of Slaughter. We’ve been able to out-bash other bashy teams and interfere with the ball carriers of more agile teams. Hopefully this contiunes down the stretch and into the playoffs.

    Development
Player development has been something of a mixed bag this season. Murder, Arson & Jaywalking took a hit in week I when emerging star Khorne herald Drox Fetlock and veteran pit fighter Lurig Chrush decided to try life as corpses compounding the career ending injury received by emerging star pit fighter & squad leader Carlos ‘Might Be a Tzeentch Infiltrator but We'll Play Him Anyway’ Francis at the end of Season VI. Francis was replaced on the line by former MAIM KILL BURN experienced pit fighter Let-The-World-Burn Pearson while the Grisel Shagburn stepped in and seized the the mantle of squad leader. Fetlock’s position was filled by Shagaraktiyash, a rookie herald. Chrush’ position hasn’t been filled, but the gap in the roster has provided an opportunity for benchwarmer Vandal Darksoul to join the scrum. I hope to use this week to focus on the rookies and push their performance to the next level. On the positive side, since week I there have been noticeable improvements made by a few of the players. Madcap Chad is breaking tackles left and right. It’s also been noted that the force behind Kaldsorfan Ribar’s blocks is less deterred by armor than ever. Lastly, Moonblood’s level of play has elevated across the board- He’s still a wild animal, but that animal is a professional blood bowler.

    Mid-Season Report

We're here with Aedilred, manager of the Bad Badenhof Bats, to review the first half of their season. Let's start out with one on everyone's mind: do you think this is the worst team you've ever coached?

    Aedilred:
Well, that's certainly one way to look at it. It's a difficult call to make, though: there were days when the Sabres were just as bad as the Bats, if not worse, so it's a matter of perspective. Certainly this is the worst first half of a season any of my teams have ever had, so by that measure... yes.

Crow reckons the Bats don't have an "identity" and that's what's causing them problems. Do you agree?

    Aedilred:
The team does have a guiding philosophy, it's just that, well, they don't always stick to that plan. The strategy on which they're established was what I'd call "Total Blood Bowl". If you look around at some of the real superstars of the league in the past, they've tended to be high-agility blitzers, capable of filling any role on the pitch, guys like Kowen and Danforth. Well, the Bats have four players like that, and the intention is for them to play flexibly and opportunistically. You can never tell where chances are going to arise, so the team aims to position itself to take advantage of them whenever they do, and it should also make the team harder for opponents to shut down, because there isn't a single obvious approach to try to counter. I think there are two main problems, though. Firstly is that for a lot of the time Valerie has been reluctant to pass the ball, so we've lost chances to score where we have broken into other teams' backfields. Secondly is that the thralls haven't been all that effective.

Did you really expect any different?

    Aedilred:
Thralls aren't, for the most part, bad players, but they're not anything special either. They're not exactly going to light up the pitch unless we invest a lot of time and effort training them specifically for certain roles. But that also creates problems because they're so vulnerable to injury, we can't count on a particular thrall to be in a particular place at a particular time. And because the vampires are doing most of the play, the thralls are also struggling to improve. We were hoping that having Blaend Edjut in the team would allow him to act as an anchor for the rest of the thralls to play around, but Cristoforo drained him dry in the first week, so so much for that. I'm considering hiring another vampire, but it's a difficult call. Too many vampires on the pitch and there aren't enough thralls to keep them upright. Not enough and the team can't function.

Are there any reasons to suppose that the second half of the season will be any better for you than the first?

    Aedilred:
Crow's right when he says that we've had a tough first half to the season, possibly the toughest of any team. But I think we've also made it look tougher than it was. We'd have hoped to beat or tie the other rookie teams, and given that we defeated LDR I thought we might pull off the same against the Feet with the training we put in. We should have looked to challenge Murder Arson Jaywalking too. On the one hand we've never lost by more than one touchdown, so we haven't been completely stampeded in any of our games, and we have got a little unlucky at times, but even so it's not a good record. In the second half of the season we have a couple of slightly more promising match-ups. The Three Moon Strikers are struggling too, so we can target them. We've also still to play the Balldroppers, of course. But then there are still some good teams to come, and realistically I think we can afford at most one more loss if we're going to qualify. If we lose to Da Monsters, which is probably likely, that means we'll need to win all our remaining games, which includes Brillanté and the Iron Boyz.

    Any regrets?

    Aedilred
: I always knew this team would be a challenge. Perhaps I should have started it last season to build up a bit of momentum, but I wanted to give the Razors another tilt at the title. It's always frustrating to see your team lose so often, but if I'd planned on challenging for the cup I'd probably have continued with the Razors or started a more competitive team, so I knew what I was getting into before we started. I didn't intend for them to lose quite so many matches, but that's part of the fun, I guess.

    Offence: 2

The team has often lacked a cutting edge, despite what should be one of the best passing combinations this side of elfdom. This has been the team's main weakness, failing to trouble the scorers sufficiently often.

    Defence: 3

Although the team has lost all but one match it's never been by more than a one-TD difference. It seems that the players are managing to inconvenience attackers to the point they find it difficult to score too many, but they could still do with being a bit tighter.

    Development: 2

    Mid-Season Press Conference

    Flashbulbs

Coach PepperP.: Flips hair. "It feels fantastic to be the prettiest coach in the league, thank you for your question!"

    Reporter 1: ............... "That wasn't the question."

Coach PepperP.: Taps fingernails on podium. "Are you quite sure?"

Reporter 1: "Yes. The question was, what are your comments on the Iron Boyz' two game losing streak?"

Coach PepperP.: "Aha! This is why I'd ignored it." Points to a different reporter.

    "Next question, please." Polite smile.

Reporter 2: Glances sideways at Reporter 1. "To what do you account your team's early successes, and how do you plan to mirror that success in the second half?"

Coach PepperP.: "Excellent question!" Pointed glance at Reporter 1. "I account our early success to outscoring the teams that we beat!." Waves at the cameras, flashbulbs.

Reporter 2: Silent pause. "How did the Boyz manage to outscore those teams?"

Coach PepperP.: Taken aback, turns to the orcs behind her and whispers. Turns back to mic. "We bashed 'em good!" Says confidently.

    Orcs: Waaaaaaaargh!

Reporter 2: "What is you strategy to find success in the second half?"

Coach PepperP.: Leans into mic. "To bash harder and also more often."

Reporter 3: Interrupting. "How do you plan to do that?"

Coach PepperP.: "I plan on adding players to the roster in the second half to be better prepared for the event of ko's and injuries." Orc grumbling.

"Excuse me, the unlikely event of ko's and injuries."

Reporter 3: Scribbling furiously in his notepad. "Are any of the Boyz in danger of being cut from the team?"

    Coach PepperP.
: Covering Jarger's ears. "It may have been noted that certain stunty players on the team have yet to earn any spps or score td's yet, and one might begin to wonder whether he is keeping tv down, or the team itself." releases Jarger.

"Pure speculation at this point, obviously."

Reporter 3: "What do you see your options being as you try to enter the playoffs in your debut season?"

Coach PepperP.: "Well, I see a few options. Firstly, making the aforementioned cut and hiring two more lineorcs, bringing the total to four available." Glances nervously at Jarger. The Lineorcs, Bert and Bert pound their chest in approval.

"Conversely, we may not make a cut and hire one more Lineorc. Or we might hire a troll, for maximum bashing possibilities." Orcs grumble uncertainly.

Reporter 3: "So what you're saying is, it's completely up in the air at this point."

Coach PepperP.: Leaning into the mic seriously. "That is correct."

Reporter 3: "Is there anything else you would like to say to the rest of the league?"

Coach PepperP.: "Yes. I would like to say that we will be looking to win as many of our final games we can, and we are hungry for a playoff spot." Turns to Orcs.

    "Are we hungry Boyz?"

Orcs: All stare at Coach Pepper and drools. Incoherent groans of assent.

Coach PepperP.: Turns back to reporters hesitantly. "They're thinking about eating me right now, aren't they?"

    Reporter 3: "Yes they are."

Coach PepperP.: Long suffering sigh. "Dammit Boyz."

Default Re: GitP Blood Bowl Manager Cup - Season 7 - [Results, Standings, Schedule, and Leade

From the Desk of The Hellbug, a GitP Blood Bowl Retrospective:

I figured now's a pretty appropriate time to be doing this, given we're halfway through Crow's announced final season as commissioner so here goes:

You all may not know it, but I've been with this league from almost the very beginning. I was alerted to its presence during the very first season; a good friend of mine, then-coach Houlio, told me about a fun little Blood Bowl thing he was doing on the forums, and I checked it out. I lurked on that whole first season, watched Sessrumnir smash the other rookie teams, Aedilred make his daring playoff run on the Red Sabres, and the first of many dark elf teams be abandoned by their coach and left on the wayside. I like to say that, for that season, I was GitP Blood Bowl's biggest fan.

Now, I should probably say now, that I've never actually played Blood Bowl in a tabletop format, never been much a miniatures guy, myself. Armed with knowledge picked up from a few games of the more recent video game adaptation of the game, I put my hat in the ring to fill in one of the spots for the second season with my self-named Chaos side, Hellbug's Heroes. Now, though they would go on to be a strong contender in seasons to come, the Heroes, I'm not going to sugar-coat it, were not a particularly competent team in their first season. In fact, if the League were as competitive then as it is now (there were a few seasons where about half the coaches would disappear halfway through) the Heroes probably wouldn't have made the playoffs for their two years of getting beaten by better teams in the finals. However, there was one match that sold this league to me, and made sure that, no matter the rest of the outcomes, I'd always have fun with it: our regular season match against Crow's Styx Rivermen. For those of you that aren't aware, the Styx Rivermen were horrifying (I'm pretty sure Crow retired them because the rest of the league was so afraid of their Tomb Guardians) but, because of one hilariously stupid play ( a long throw that didn't even go to it's target) I managed to tie the then undefeated monstrosities. Nuffle was there with that off-target pass, and Nuffle's there in every play of every game we hold. I'm getting a little long winded here, but what I'm trying to say is that, win or lose, this league has been a great experience for me and a great deal of fun. Special shout-out to Crow for taking this on his back (6.5 seasons in 6 years, I wonder where those other commissioners got to?) and to Aedilred for his painstaking record-keeping. Finally, thanks to every other coach in this league and everyone who's updated the wiki and wrote articles here, it's been a great time, and this is the best season we've had yet (no drop outs by mid-season). Good luck for the rest of the season, all!

    Mid-Season Report

Offense: I wish I could just write 'good enough', but that's not in the spirit of the report, is it? Maximinus has been a godsend, and getting some vital defensive skills on him in block and dodge this season should make his long plods to the endzone that much safer. We've managed to put points on the board in every game except one, and I've been rather pleased with our willingness to put the ball in the air when we get desperate enough. That said, we can't remember that we are a defensive team, first and foremost. Our only loss has come at the hands of the Feets, whose assault on the sides was just too strong. Outside of targeted injury (which is unavailable in this format), I don't know what I can do about Stinger and Kowen. I'm dreading these guys if I have to meet them again in the post season.

    Rating: Influenza

Defense: Here it is: what we all came for. The Sultans have had a brutally strong defense this season, and I hope to continue that in the second half. We've held the line in every game we've won, and Jan Facebreaker is the lynchpin of this strategy. Now toting all the skills I really want him to have, I can gameplan him to have whatever the situation demands (claws for big tough orcs, tentacles for squishy little elves...you get the picture). However, the only classically high-scoring teams we've played so far have not been doing so hot this season so far, so we'll see if it holds against Brilliante in the second half. In addition, we have only faced one of the league's three orc teams, which could very realistically put our dominance on the line to the test, while potentially winning the wings with skilled blitzers.

    Rating: Clostridium botulinum

Developement: We've had some ups and downs in player development this season. On the up side, Maximinus, Jan, and Galerius are all toting three skills, which gives the team a strong core to work around. Additionally, we've been surprised by stick-to-it-iveness of our rotters, with plenty of them gaining some useful skills (shout out to the surprising leadership qualities displayed by The Iron Lung). On the downside, we've lost 4 players in 6 games, including a nurgle warrior and a pestigor. If we want to go deep in the playoffs, we need to keep our positionals, especially, safer in coming games.

    Rating: Rhinovirus

Overall: This is the most successful first half of a season I've ever had so it's hard to come up with what we could do better for the second half. However, I do believe we've had one of the weaker schedules for the first half of the season. I think the core of our team is strong though, and, Nuffle willing, we could go deep into the playoffs with this roster. However, Maximinus is a significant point of failure on this team. If he goes down, our chances at the cup slip far lower, also.

    Rating: Plasmodium
Coach and Owner of Hellbug's Heroes, Sneak Kings, Sultans of Slaughter, and Commercial Cast-Offs. Season II and III runner-up. Season IV league champion. Season VII division champion.

    BARK Mid Season Report:

BARK has done surprisingly well for me. I kind of hoped going into the league to just hope an take as many out as possible, but for them to have actually won games, against far more experienced teams, has surprised me. Going forward into the second half of the season, I am running fairly optimistic of making it to finals. Lets see how things go.

BARK on the OFFENCE: BARK has been going excellent on the offense, as to be expected of an orc team. Annoyingly, one of my blitzers still hasn't managed to pick up any SPPs. However, Two Teef is really shining with his performances so far. A number of early kills and injuries, especially to MAJ surprisingly, is keeping me more than happy with the offense. The team has also managed to pick up quite a handful of touchdowns which is amusing.

BARK on the DEFENCE: There is really not much to say. Poor Stitches the Spider has been sitting around bored almost all of the time. The only time he has had to get up of his lazy spider butt has been against the incredibly painful Midden, as well as the recent Feet game. Whilst we have lost a number of orcs, Stitches has come through with two good heals. Who knew that spiders made good medics?

Apart from that, BARK's defensive game seems fairly solid so far, and will hopefully continue as such.

BARK on it's DEVELOPMENT: A number of solid SPPs across the board, with only a handful of deaths for relatively inconsequential players, and almost no long term injuries has BARK really pushing forward. I was more than happy to pick up Surprise of the First, and was sad after all of BARK's kills and early wins they never made it into MURDER MAGAZINE. Damned Halflings and their Million dollar inducements. The SPPs to be picked up this week should really help round out the team as a whole, and I feel comfortable going into the second half of the season.

    Longball Derby

    Spoiler: Round 1
    Show
    Round 1

First to take the field were the elven team Legends of Jam, whose array of passing skills made them the favourites in the eyes of many onlookers. Veteran thrower Ingorian Windglaive lined up his throw, and all watched in astonishment as a zombie lurched upwards to grab the ball from the air! After wiping the scuzz off the ball with a look of clear disgust, Ingorian threw again, with the same result! A hush fell over the stadium as the outraged elf retrieved possession again, and this time sent a devilish curving pass which Macha Marmalade comfortably collected and ran in to the end zone. Five more perfect passes followed, with the Legends having established an early lead.

Next up were the Monsters, who have no designated thrower on the team but were relying on the professionalism of star blitzer Narthug to carry the day. Unfortunately, the orcs’ lack of practice quickly began to show. Narthug’s first pass was on target, but Kolish dropped it, to jeers from the crowd. The next one was wide, and bounced through Kolish’s desperate green fingers as he struggled to retrieve it. On the third attempt things finally went to plan, but on the fourth, disaster struck, as Narthug fumbled the pass and watched the ball bounce sadly away, ending the orcs’ attempt with only one touchdown to their name.

Two Skaven teams were up next: first off, the Low-Down Rats combo of Diggles Bouldercod and Flash. Without the expertise of Ingorian, the Rats’ passes were particularly vulnerable to interception, and no fewer than three found their way into the waiting hands of the zombies. Another one missed the target and bounced away from Flash, and the gutter runner dropped one more. Those that did end up in his paws, though, he comfortably converted, finishing with a respectable three touchdowns.

The Feet were less fortunate, as their pair had what with their skills can only be described as a horror show. Two of Triston's passes missed the mark, and on the fourth, although Kinked Kalos successfully got his paws on the ball, he was tripped by a zombie as he tried to make his getaway, and left sprawled on the astroturf.

Ironic cheers greeted the next pair to take the field, as the crowd waited to see whether the Balldroppers would live up to their name. True to form, a variety of aimless punts and flubbed catches ensued, with the ball ending up on the ground next to the red-faced Chickie Chann II five times in total, and another one getting stuck in a zombie ribcage. Nevertheless, by the time the laughter had died down, the halflings had managed to see out their time on the pitch and even complete two offences, putting them in third place!

Irony was muted for the next two players, the home contingent of Valerie von Streissenhower and Cristoforo Carandini. The cheers died down a little though as it became apparent Valerie was struggling to find her range, narrowly avoiding fumbling a couple of early passes, and Cristoforo’s lack of specialist catching training saw him drop one at the other end. The zombies were on good form, too, intercepting three of their passes, and while they left the field in a qualification position, it was by no means clear they’d be going through to the next round.

Murder Arson Jaywalking now took to the field, with Grisel Shagburn on thrower duty and nobody expecting a lot from them. His first throw duly bounced off the turf, and on the second the ball seemed to slip from his grasp as he made the throw. However, so inspired was he by his own awesomeness that he miraculously retrieved the ball in time, and sent it on its way to where Chord Horrid could take a comfortable collection. But it seems lightning does sometimes strike twice, and Shagburn fumbled the next pass too! Having exhausted his own self-assuredness, this time he wasn’t able to save it, and the daemons’ turn ended prematurely.

A relatively familiar sight greeted the crowd next as the dark elves arrived, and although neither of these had played at the Wreck before, as many in the crowd were heard to remark, all elves look pretty much the same. The Princes started thoroughly professionally, completing two passes without incident, the first team to do so. On the third, Prince Shin Yu misjudged the range and the ball bounced away from Prince Ki Do. The elves weren’t done, though, and, after keeping a close eye on the ball, Ki Do was able to grab it as it bounced back in his direction, before running in a third touchdown. Despite that success, it seemed to rattle the elves, and they managed only one more completion - though that was nonetheless enough to raise them to second place.

The Iron Boyz were next up, greeted by the traditional chorus of booing that any orc team at the Wreck has to face. Boos quickly turned to surprise as the crowd saw the players selected for the challenge, for the supposed “catcher” was the lumbering Grog of Clan Ironclaw. With Grog positioned towards the extreme end of Thommag’s range, things progressed fairly predictably, as five balls hit the turf, either directly or after having been dropped by the black orc. Only one ball found its way all the way to the end zone, the worst performance so far by a pair who hadn’t seen their turn end early.

After that, almost any team would have likely fared better, but the Sultans still presented something of a surprise, with two clean passes and one scrambled recovery that saw them rack up three completions and put them in contention for qualification, although their high number of drops would likely count against them. BARK, using another slow receiver but this time a slightly more nimble one, also met with moderate success, the passing skills of Bug Eyes paying off.

Last in were Brillanté, one of the favourites for the competition, and they duly put on a show, completing five passes with only one drop to take second place overall.

    Round 1 Results

Top six teams proceed to round 2

    Rank Team Completions Interceptions Drops
    1 Legends of Jam 6 2
    2 Brillanté 5 2 1
    3 Three Moon Strikers 4 2 2
    =4 Bad Badenhof Bats 3 3 2
    =4 B.A.R.K. 3 3 2
    =4 Low-Down Dirty Rats 3 3 2
    7 Sultans of Slaughter 3 1 4
    8 Biffdoodle Balldroppers 2 1 4
    9 Murder Arson Jaywalking 1 1
=10 Da Monsters of da Midden 1 2
    =10 Ultimate Feet 1 2
    12 Iron Boyz 1 2 5

Perhaps no surprise to see the three elven teams topping the table and proceeding to round 2 comfortably. The Bats, Rats and BARK tie for fourth place, with identical stats, and join the pointy-ears in the next round, with the Sultans narrowly missing out on the interceptions/drops tiebreaker. The Iron Boyz, with only one completion and multiple drops, bring up the rear.

    Spoiler: Round 2
    Show
    Round 2

The Low-Down Rats returned to the field with intent, but were unprepared for the sprightliness of the zombies, as their first two passes were intercepted! When the ball did find its way through to Flash, he was so surprised he promptly dropped it. Knuckling down thereafter, the Rats managed two completions, as well as two drops, before their last pass was once again intercepted by a zombie to the disbelief of both Skaven.

It seemed the zombies had exhausted themselves against them, for they managed to intercept only one of BARK’s passes. The questionable aim of Bug Eyes now became a problem, as a number of his passes missed the target, though Elf Hands did well to collect all but one of those that actually reached him. They finished with three completions, a respectable total considering their skills.

The Bats were up next, and made a strong start, completing two passes to lay a solid foundation, before the zombies once again woke up and began to interfere, intercepting three of their passes in total. On the sixth pass, Valerie was suddenly overcome with thirst, and felt the need to refresh herself on the thrall provided for the purpose. Having exercised self-restraint for so long, she couldn’t contain herself and took a bit too much, putting the poor girl in intensive care. That didn’t seem to bother Valerie, though, who with concentration restored recorded two more completions for four in total.

The Three Moon Strikers likewise started well, again, with two passes going to the hands of Prince Ki Do before the zombies grabbed one, but nevertheless at the halfway mark the dark elves had managed three from their first four. With qualification looking likely, however, the lack of specialist passing skills suddenly made themselves apparent, as Prince Shin Yu missed the next pass, and fumbled the one after that, sending the Strikers back to the dugout early with only three completed passes.

With no team yet having more than a 50% success rate, Brillanté entered the field confident of qualification for the final. Although the first two balls went to hand, the third was badly off-target, leaving Salvat glaring at John Louis War. On the next, disaster struck, as despite his renowned sure hands, JLW fumbled the pass and dropped it at his own feet, before sinking to his knees in despair at having blown his team’s chance.

Having watched the Brillanté performance closely, Ingorian Windglaive was determined not to make the same mistake, and again put on a masterclass in passing, hitting the target six times without the zombies getting involved at all. Although two of the balls went to ground, it was still comfortably enough to secure qualification for the final as the best team in the second round.

    Round 2 Results

Top two teams proceed to the final

    Rank Team Completions Interceptions Drops
    1 Legends of Jam 6 2
    2 Bad Badenhof Bats 4 3 1
    3 Three Moon Strikers 3 1 1
    4 B.A.R.K. 3 1 4
    5 Brillanté 2 1 1
    6 Low-Down Dirty Rats 2 4 2

    Round 3

The somewhat unlikely pairing of the Legends of Jam and Bad Badenhof Bats took the field for the final of the Longball Derby. Having finished second, the Bats were up first, and duly completed the first pass, before the second one was intercepted by a zombie. On the third, Valerie launched a perfect pass, which Cristoforo Carandini caught and was on his way to the end zone when he heard the bell ring. After releasing the ball, Valerie had been overcome with thirst again and had dashed off the pitch to feast on a spectator. Cristoforo threw the ball to the ground in disgust when he realised what had happened, the Bats having to leave the field with only one completion to their name.

Needing only two completions to secure the title, it should have been easy for the Legends, although some nerves were apparent as the first ball fell short of the target. The second and third went to hand, though, giving the Legends the two touchdowns they needed; all that was left was to determine the margin of victory. But on the very next ball, Ingorian let success get to his head, badly fumbling and sending the ball flying backwards. Their time on the pitch was over in somewhat embarrassing circumstances, but they were champions nonetheless.

    Rank Team Completions Interceptions Drops
    1 Legends of Jam 2 1
    2 Bad Badenhof Bats 1 1

Legends of Jam are crowned champions of the inaugural (and probably final) Longball Derby. Special congratulations to them for topping the table in every round.

Ingorian Windglaive is duly rewarded with the Mangonelle arm brace which gives him the Strong Arm skill for one match of his choice in the remainder of the normal season.

As the tournament’s bottom-feeders, the Iron Boyz are given the consolation prize of the Velcreflon gloves. For the next two matches, Grog of Clan Ironclaw gains the Catch skill. For the third match, he suffers -1 AG.

    KO! Magazine
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the thread

    By Bill Moroni

Hello, Blood Bowl fans, and welcome back! It's been a long time but I'm sure you've missed us as much as I've missed you!

Skögul: I wouldn't count on that, Bill.

And I'm very happy to say we're rejoined by our Blood Bowl experts, S. "Fab" Rickas and Skögul F. Ri-

Skögul: Just "Skögul" is fine, Bill. If only for the sake of not having two "SFR"s in the initial column.

Well I must say it's a pleasure to have you two back after all this time.

SFR: It turns out it's surprisingly difficult for former Blood Bowl players to find work. I tried coaching a little league team for a while but I got sacked after the third gouging.

Skögul: If you can't handle a little gouging you shouldn't be in the game.

SFR: That's what I said, but the parents - and my lawyer - disagreed.

In the aftermath of the All-Star Game, which teams are current stand-outs for you two?

Skögul: I actually think this is one of the tightest seasons we've had in an awfully long time, largely thanks to the separation of divisions by experience. It's played havoc with inter-divisional loyalties, but it means competition at the top is fairly close in both divisions.

SFR: On the other hand it means any teams from Division B will be very lucky to qualify with a wild card. I would expect both wild cards to be coming from Division A at this point.

Skögul: The two rookie orc teams have both been very impressive, though I can't help but get the feeling that both of them are still in some kind of honeymoon period at the moment. Orcs tend to be good teams, but they're often pretty one-dimensional, and I wonder if there are some nasty surprises waiting for them in the second half of the season.

SFR: On the other hand, Da Monsters are in trouble. They have one of the toughest second halves of any team, and they're currently hanging onto the last qualification spot. They need to win this week to give themselves the best chance, although to be fair, given how poorly some of the other teams below them are doing, they might be safe in their current position.

Skögul: This match is practically a must-win for both the Monsters and the Bats. It could be a good one - or it could be diabolically terrible. You never quite know when the Bats are involved.

SFR: At any rate, there are no teams running away with the league at the moment. The Feet are the best team on paper, but they have a lot of resources invested in their top guys, and if they have a bad one, or get injured or killed, they're in trouble.

Skögul: They haven't always been able to deliver the goods so far even with their best players on the field, either. They've only managed one touchdown in each of their last two matches and lost to a rookie orc team. They don't look like a side brimming with confidence.

    What about our elves?

Skögul: Brillanté and the Legends both look good. They have great passing games and seem so far to have avoided getting beaten up too badly. On the other hand, the Strikers just aren't on it.

SFR: The gulf in quality between the Strikers now and the Razors last season is amazing. I'm not sure what's gone wrong for the Strikers this season but they just aren't putting up the numbers you'd want an elf team to do.

Skögul: It might be the pitch surfaces that made a difference. The Razors, let's not forget, played half their matches on the Wreck's artificial turf, and had several players who were already pretty fast on the ground. They were getting up to Skaven-like levels of speed at times, which the Strikers aren't able to do.

SFR: I must admit that this is a much more typical Dark Elf performance in this league. Although it didn't help our previous Dark Elf teams that their coaches tended to abandon them a match or two in.

Skögul: All of that said, though, the biggest disappointment so far this season has to be the Low-Down Rats. They've just been seriously off their game. Even the Bats beat them.

    Do you see that improving?

Skögul: It's hard to say, but, honestly, no. All of LDR's remaining matches are against teams in their own division with more points and a higher TV. Winning any matches is likely to be a struggle, and if their opponents are going to rest players late in the season it'll be because they've already qualified, at LDR's expense.

That's all for this week. Enjoy this round of games!
