Default Guilty Until Proven Innocent IC (DH2)

    OOC Thread

Until now you hadn't been addressed by any of the crew of 'The Destroyers End' since you had been commanded to stick to your compartment, but now you had been summoned to one of the ships hall. As you entered you where greeted by a Power Armored figure, the power armor was silver and had Inquisition symbols on the shoulder pads, he wore no helm and most of you reconsidered him from your recruitment. His face was scared and one of his eyes was covered with an eye patch. He was flanked by two silver armored men, their armor was far lighter and bore no symbols, and they had exotic guns that you didn't recognize.

These three figures where dwarfed by the size of the hall, is had silver walls, trimmed with gold, there where four square pillars that where covered in banners of conquest, Banners from numerous races and nations, however there where no Banners on the walls.

When the power armored figure spoke, you strain to hear him, he doesn't speak louder then a whisper "Do you know why you're here? Not here on the ship, but here" he extends his hands and then almost yells "In this Hall of Conquest"

As he made his way towards the hall along the long walkways of the ship, Yarl was actually quite nervous. This is odd, he thought. Normally he was not nervous. It must be the ship. He didn't like being in ships. When he finally made it to the hall, Yarl's anxiousness was quickly taken over by sheer amazement. He had never seen a place of such size and splendor in his entire life. As he approached the group of men he snapped out of his bafflement as his training took over, and gave a salute to the inquisitor. "Guardsman Eburon reporting for duty, sir!" he said. As he made his salute Yarl's eyes drifted over the inquisitor and his two guards. Nice armor he thought. When the inquisitor asked the question Yarl pondered for a while. Finally he answered, with a solemn tone to his voice "Sir, To remind us that the skalds will sing no songs about our deeds. Only the emperor knows our saga. "

    Araleen Caul

Araleen Caul had kept up with her Sororitas routine during her stay on the Destroyers End. Prayer, ritual cleansing, more prayer, combat drills and even more devotional activities filled her days. When she finally received summons to attend the Inquisitor, she almost hopped in excitement at the prospect of finally being let loose on the enemies of the imperium.

After making herself presentable she made her way into the cavernous chamber were she had been ordered to assemble. She walked into the chamber, her lithe warrior's stride oozing confidence and competence. She saluted the man in the power armor with the sign of the aquilla to the heart.

The Inquisitor, his power armour and the chamber were impressive enough, but to one trained in awe-inspiring Sororitas temples and seeing the impressive armour of Battle Maidens up close, it wasn't too impressive. Or at least it shouldn't be, Araleen showed her origins on a backward world by gawking at the impressively armoured Inquisitor who was obviously 'blessed by the emperor'.

When the Inquisitor asked them why they were in the 'Hall of Conquest', the answer seemed plain enough.
'We're here to conquest!' Sister Caul answered, failing to congegate the word correctly, before she added 'for the Emperor.' with a self-satisfied nod, convinced that her answer was the correct one. 'For the Emperor' was usually the correct answer to most things in her experience and 'conquering for the Emperor' seemed like a perfectly obvious next step.

"Why I am here? An excellent question. Does not the book of wisdom say, 'every man is a servant of the empire?' Or, 'ask not why you are called, but ask, what is your duty'? I am here because that is my destiny, and I have been summoned here. Both literally and figuratively. Although, what this place is..." Brother Ignatius trailed off and looked around. "I could almost believe we were in a palace back home. Is this your 'Hall of Conquest', commemorating your mighty deeds?'

An entire I Love Me hall. Not too unusual. Not something that Jaspar himself ever indulged in, but he had known enough officers in the course of his duties to recognize what it was. He made a few glances around when he entered the room, trying to at least be "polite" and appear awe struck and impressed by the show going on. Not that he was a masterful liar, and it wasn't exactly difficult to see that he was trying a bit too hard to match what he thought was expected of him.

Theatrics. It did fit the behavior of some officers after all. Lots of pomp and ceremony, lots of over exaggerated deliver, lots of window dressing. People were chiming up, not that he recognized any of them beyond the merest superficial observations about them. It wasn't hard to place the Sister, he had seen enough growing up to recognize the markings of one. And of course another who was clearly ex-guard. Likely a conscript, if he was going to judge. Too much polish, he didn't have that wear and tear that the veterans had. And one who ran too much at the mouth. Perhaps some adepta of one of the grand organizations of the Imperium, hard for him to tell.

Combined with him, that definitely made a strange little gathering.

There was no hurrying someone in the middle of their display however. He knew that much. The man had a point to make of some sort, and no matter what they said or answered, he'd get into it in his own time, in his own way. He doubted that any of the answers so far were exactly what the man was looking for. In fact he was almost expecting a dressing down, a "Here is my magnificence, you are maggots" speech like many he had heard before from both the Pulpit, the Schola, and the Guard.

And so he remained silent, arms clasped behind his back, standing at ease, showing a bit of discipline in his bearing that spoke of a long tradition of order. And of course, the old wisdom that it's better to remain silent and have people think you a fool, rather than open your mouth and prove it. His eyes did roam to the "honor guard" there, and rather their bizarre weapons, unable to help himself from at least pondering the threat levels posed by these weapons and their carriers.

    Scab

A hulking shadow appeared in the doorway and stopped for a moment, those that could see would be able to notice the large mans eyes wide with amazement and his head roamed around the room. He took a careful step into the hall, his head shooting up to find the roof high above. Another carefully placed step later and the lights lit up his frame, he was a hulking brute, standing as tall and wide as an Ogryn his bald head gleaming. To any that did not know him it would be impossible to tell the difference between him and the abhumans, and at the present his child like amazement would confirm their suspicions.

He saw the flags of conquest hanging from the pillars and his jaw dropped open slightly, he saw a dusty red banner, showing a dirty brown planet with a shining man stood atop. He knew that was his planet, the war to free him, it was still recent in his mind and he had only just got used to knowing that he was stood inside a ship in space. He had spent most of his time on the observation decks staring at the stars he had never seen before, and had only heard stories of from The Keeper. His huge body shuddered at the thought of the traitor that had tricked them all.

He finally made his way to the group at the end of the hall, his eyes locked onto the shining figure standing in his glorious armour, Scab was almost the same height as the armoured man but as soon as his eyes landed on the figure he dropped to his knee and bowed his head low. "My saviour, how can I serve?" his deep voice rumbled like a volcano stirring, his eyes kept low staring at his own feet.

The man was quiet as he listens to every response, when Scab knelt he frowned and quickly motioned for him to stand, he then starts to speak quickly as if in a hurry "This is where we put the trophies from every cell's first mission, should you succeed yours, then yours will reside here as well, however if you fail your first mission you will be discharged from the Inquisition." he pauses for a moment allowing that to sink in "That does not however answer the question, this is where we give every cell's gets assigned it's first mission, and luckily for you, we have one for you. We have recently regained contact with one our mining colonies, the Inquisitor has commanded me to get someone out there and interrogate the colony as to why they lost contact in the first place. Do you have any questions?".

The man frowns, "If you think you're to inexperienced for this simple task, then perhaps you're the wrong man for the job, and if you're the wrong man for the job, then we won't have much use for you in general" He point to the door you came through "You ether leave now and hope you can avoid me until you can find a way of this ship, or you follow my orders until you've proved yourself valuable enough to meet the Inquisitor. And as for the Document, you'll start seeing those when you start getting your orders straight from the Inquisitor" It's not hard to tell that he's avoiding to answer what his name is.

Jaspar let his eyes flick between the stranger, and the stranger with middle management authority during the little verbal scuffle. It was a habit of his, to keep his eyes moving, watching for relatively minute tells. Well, habit is stretching it. Hard wired training from the Schola Psykana, always on alert for the telltale signs of someone becoming a bit too unhinged was more like it.

"A simple task would be straight forward. This is far more open ended. Clearly you think it's something a bit more drastic than their Astropath just happening to explode." Jaspar spoke up, and mentioned the Astropathic Explosion in a very deadpan manner. It happened in his line of work, he'd seen far too many psykers just happen to explode to doubt that as something that happens. "Or at least whoever has the collective brains here thinks it's something more." Taking an extra jab at this man's clear middleman status. "May the Emperor protect us all."

    Brother Ignatius

"Steady on, there friend. I realize in other organizations, the guard or wherever, they have clear cut chains of command and concrete orders to follow, but other places have a more flexible system. We've been recruited by the Big I, dontcha know, and I think some sort of operational flexibility is to be expected. Go there, root out heresy, report back... how we do it is based on what we find. I would prefer to convince them to voluntarily rejoin the emperor's light, but... Ignatius fiddles with his hand flamer for emphasis.

    Sister Araleen Caul

As so often happened to her in situations where many people were expressing opinions at the same time, Araleen struggled to catch up with what was being said and what was happening. This was reflected in her face, where the confident and stoic facial expression she usually adopted slowly edged into a confused wide eyed one.

The Emperor hadn't burdened the Sister with an overabundance of thought, but she had been blessed with the wisdom to follow orders without questions. According to her teachers, comrades and leaders, a vastly more desirable trait. When she was forced to make sense of what people were saying, it usually took her a few moments to sort through the events before she could react to it.

She started fingering the fleur-de-lis which decorated her bodyglove as she considered what had been said.
That the man in impressive power armour wasn't the inquisitor she had been seconded to surprised her, but didn't realy bother her as it seemed to bother the others with her. She was used to taking orders down the chain of command.
He wanted them to prove themselves by finding out why a mining colony had lost communication.
According to one of the men with her it was probably a witch's doing.
The man who had identified himself as Locke seemed to be a learned type who wanted their orders in paper and the one who looked like a ministorum priest felt the colony likely needed to be purged with cleansing promethium.

Having straightened the events up for herself, the reason why they were here was clear to her. She gave the man in power armour an anoyed look, he should learn to give orders in quick and clear terms, not this convoluted jammering out of which she had to distill what he meant.

The Sister's stoic expression then returned while she took another look at the others in the chamber with her. Most of the men looked like they could carry themselves in a fight, which was good. They would need to count on each other while they cleansed the place.

This mining colony will be conquered and we will purge it of any taint the exploding witch has summoned with it's tainted soul. For the Emperor. she reiterated what she believed where their orders for the benifit of all and gave a curt nod to underline that it would be done.
How many people were at the mining colony?

Scab stood slowly, though he kept his head down staring at his own feet. How dare these people question his saviour, he thought to himself but then stopped. He remembered the last saviour he had followed blindly and where it had taken him. His bionic arm twitched as the metal distorted and twisted in ways that skin and tendons would, he clenched his fist in the hopes no-one noticed the strangeness of his arm keeping it still so as not to draw any more attention. "We will bring the colony back into the light." he said obediently, Then we will ask more questions he said silently in his head.

He replied to the Sister first "It's a small colony, I would guess around two thousand" he then spoke up to address everyone "and Clearly some of you weren't listening, we have regained contact with the colony, furthermore they clam to have no knowledge of the fact that we've lost contact with them" he then one by one looks into the eyes of each disobedient member of the group "And don't you dare question the Inquisition again, if I where the Inquisitor you would be ice cold and out of breath by now. Luckily for you, the Inquisitor is far kinder then me"

From the far side of the hall you see another group of Acolytes enter they are clearly better trained and better armored then any of you, they stand in a stand in a single file, at this distance you can't see all there features but a few are obvious, like a mutant with a snake like tail in place of his legs and a man with a sword and shield. However this is not the ones that truly catch you eye, two green figures, one big and muscular, the other small, they are both clearly xenos.

((Araleen, Yarl, Jasper: You three have them in your background so you clearly recognize them as an Ork and a Gretchin.))

Before you have a chance to comment on them the man speaks again "Since this will be your first mission, these will be you reinforcements, your lifeline and should you attempt to run from the Inquisition, they will be the kill team that goes after you."

((If you want you can make Awareness test (Or other test that you think may apply) to determine what the others may be (The room is large to it's hard to see from this distance)))

Jaspar found his hands gripping his whip, and drawing his pistol to his side at the appearance of the greenskins. Years of battle-tested reflexes screaming at him to draw down and fire upon the xenos. The butchers of his allies, the enemies of the Emperor, scourge of mankind. It was only through a perhaps healthy fear of the Inquisition, not the Greenskins or the two who stood (Or for that matter slithered) at their sides. His jaw was clenched tight, and there was little doubt looking at the Sanction Warden that he would have thrown down with the Xenos, and from the hard look in his eyes, that he was confident he could take them. Which considering how "unimposing" his own apparent gear is, only a Flak Vest, his clothing, a las pistol, and a whip, probably spoke to others more about his instability and suicidal tendencies.

Then again they hadn't seen the warzones that Jaspar Dara did either.

Brother Ignatius's interest was suddenly piqued, both by the mystery and the unsubtle threat. "Two thousand souls, you say? Far too small to have an astropath. Are there any other facilities in system? How'd they normally report in? Regular shipments of ore to the colony's owner? How long ago did they stop delivering? Not that we're questioning the inquisition, just... asking questions."

    Yarl Eburon
At the sight of the ork and gretchin in the other group Yarl gritted his teeth. "Green skin filth" he muttered. It took all of his mental power not to take his lasgun and open fire right here, right now. He was no traitor. There is even a snake xenos. Why would and inquisitor make dealings with the xenos he wondered. If he ever had the chance he would have a word with the inquisitor. Now however, the mission was more important. Reluctantly looking away from the other group he listened to the new information about their target. Being unprepared had killed many a man before he knew from first hand experience.

    Sister Araleen Caul

Sister Araleen might not have been the first to grab her weapons when the Inquisitor's lackey motioned to the other group of being entering the chamber, but she was by far the loudest. Her chainsword was in her hand in the blink of an eye, it's teeth already speeding across it's edge. It's screaming whine filled the chamber, informing everybody that she was ready to cut through the enemies of the Emperor. Her hand flamer had also appeared as if out of nowhere and the small pilot flame was starting to fill the room with the blessed smell of burning promethium.

The Sororitas stood like a coiled spring, ready to unleash the Emperor's wrath on the vile creatures before her, regardless of their superior equipment. The Emperor would guide her to victory over this filth, and if she died in His service, she would take as many of them with her as she could. She scanned the group, trying to determine the mist dangerous one, she would engage that one first. All she was waiting for was any kind of order to attack.

As Jasper and Araleen drew there weapons, the left Body Guards threw his weapon to the power armored man and drew a pistol of similar design as the Rifles, while the other Body Guard readied his weapon.

Araleen: You could see most of the other Cells members who where also readying weapons, from your left to right you could see: a Feudal Worldlier with a staff tipped with a brass skull with an iron halo we was clad in Chain Mail that seemed to be covered in runes; next to him was the mutant with the tail for legs, he bore a Hellgun and his armor was red, though it is to small to see what it's made of; then was another Body Guard except this one had a symbol of the Inquisition on his shoulder; then came the two green skins, the Ork which seemed a bit dazed and wielded two Axes, he seemed to be wearing a collar while the Gretchin held a strange pistol that you couldn't make out the details of at this range; next to them was the swordsman we was clad in heavy armor that you couldn't tell the origins of but the helm seemed to be horned and he held a now glowing and crackling Sword and Shield; perhaps the strangest of all in your eyes at the end of the line, where two Battle Sister fully clad in Soroitas Power Armour, they where the only ones that didn't draw any weapons, in fact from this distance it seems that they haven't brought any weapons to this meeting.

Ignatius's questions went mostly ignored now that there where weapons out, and the power armored man was, ginning "Now, if we do this, we will win, even if all your friends join in, we still out number you, out gun you and out skill you, and even if you do by some miracle manage to kill me or the Green Skins and get away, there is no way of this vessel. So, do we have a problem?" Almost on que the blast door behind you slams shut.

    Sister Araleen Caul

The Sororitas' mind was reeling. When she had entered the chamber she had fully expected to be ordered to assist in battling the enemies of the Emperor, something she had been trained for more than half her life.

Being confronted with xenos and mutants as somekind of test also might of fit into her worldview, if she had been given an order to either attack or stand down. But being threatened by the one who's orders she was seconded to follow, with two of her Sisters standing calmly with the xenos and mutants, just didn't follow any of the usual thought processes she had.

She looked around in confusion, seeing only the Guardsmen close to her stand ready to challenge the overwelming force arrayed against her, but no direction from anywhere. Unfamiliar with having to make descisions herself, the warrior part of her mind started calculating.

She took note of the distances between her and her opponents. The Xenos, mutants, inquisitor's pet and his guards. The man was either an idiot or unused to combat; the long weapons they had equiped themselves with would be useless as soon as she had closed with them. He also didn't understand the Sororitas; every one would gladly give her life for the Emperor. She then took note of the banners and other things around the room and calculated if she could turn this room into a burning conflagaration.

Once again the Sororitas in the group threw her thought process. This couldn't be anything but somekind of test. She adjusted her stance slightly to face the Inquisitor's pet. If he was a heretic she would gladly give her life to end his existence, but for once she decided speak before she leapt into bloody battle.

I am Sister Araleen Caul of the Order of the Crimson Rose. I fear no death in the Service of the Emperor, I doubt you can claim the same. Explain yourself in allowing these Xenos and Mutants to blight His universe, or face His wrath. she said loud enough to be heard by all in the chamber, her calm and confident tone easily conveying that she was not afraid to sacrifice everybody in the chamber for the Emperor.

    Brother Ignatius

Ignatius was momentarily taken aback as his companions drew their weapons... at least until he saw the xenos. After hearing that the man in power armor would side with the xenos over good, Emperor-fearing humans, Brother Ignatius waved his hands in what he hoped was a placating gesture, and said "Gentlemen. You can't fight in here, this is the war room! Now, I was always under the impression that one of the Inquisition's roles was to root out xeno infiltrators, not invite them over for tea and cakes. If this is incorrect, I think our little team may need some time to think over the theological implications of this development. Of course, I realize there may be some problems that are of far greater concern then a mere handful of xenos, and perhaps this mission is one of them? Now, let us all put our weapons down, and I believe someone mentioned tea and cake. Let us sit and break bread like civilized species, and you can tell us more about our mission for the most holy Inquisition."

Jaspar had holstered his pistol when the Middle Manager field officer squeaked up, though his hand went towards the shield instead. He wasn't as crazy as someone might think, his mind had weighed the odds several times over, battle tested instincts calculating the tactics involved. His eyes flicked over to the Sister, fairly certain that despite the claims of the Middle Manager, they could take them. They were bringing longa rms to a knife fight, and that just wasn't something you do if you had any sense of self preservation. It wouldn't be easy, but for the moment the odds were far more in their favor than the Middle Manager seemed to realize, barring potential aid given to him by the others standing besides the Sister and him. He even pondered if that seemingly No Craps Giving man they called an Inquisitor would rightly care if someone got culled here.

Then the priest spoke up. Mission, Inquisition, breaking bread with HERESY... But mostly Inquisition, and a mission. He wasn't planning on breaking bread with any greenskins anytime soon. His shield was still in hand, his grip on the handle of his whip. But he wasn't drawing his weapon either, for what that mattered. But he wasn't exactly taking an At Ease stance either, considering the tension in this room.

The man gestures at the Xenos, "They are tools, much like yourselves and although some of our more Puritan brethren would call it heresy for enslaving such beings. There are no limitations in the battle for survival" he stops aiming his rifle at you to show you the side of it "This rifle, it's made with Xenos technology, because unlike our ignorant brothers we understand that Technology is one of our weaker point, and Sister, although you are more then welcome to give up your life, it will not be in the name of the Emperor, it will be as a Traitor"

((Okay you two are talking about being able to beat them all, so let me remind you that you would have to be extremely lucky to beat them (Although I will allow it, as I don't believe in Story Shields) as they outnumber you, have better weapons then you, are more skilled then you and you're on their ship))

    Sister Araleen Caul

When the priest spoke in calm and reasuring tones, Araleen visibly relaxed. As a member of the militant arm of the Ecclesiarchy, she had been to thousands of sermons and services in her life and it seemed right that such a servant of the Emperor should be the one to give the command to stay her blade.

She gave a curt nod to the priest before wispering the litanies required to placate the war spirits of her weapons without drenching them in the blood of the Emperor's enemies. Her weapons accepted the devotions and she holstered her hand flamer as soon as the pilot flame was doused.

With her chainsword still finishing slowing down she locked eyes with the man in power armour. The look on her face making it very clear that she hadn't been cowed by his words.

Sororitas are never traitors. she said with finality as she slammed her chainsword home into it's scabbardcase. She completely missed the fact that there were two Sisters who probably would have joined in the attack against her if it had escalated only slightly further. Which would make either them or her at least close to a traiter.

    Scab

Scab had kept himself out of the commotion, and made sure to keep his metal arm out of sight. If his squad was that eager to spill blood at the sight of mutants, havinf never seen an alien before he could only assume the greenskins were another type of mutane. he knew he would have to be careful around these people with his arm. "I think we should make haste to complete the mission then we can leave the Xeno's behind."

A terrifying thought, really the worst that the man could have levied, if Jaspar was honest with himself. He didn't think this man necessarily had the authority himself, but his boss, the Inquisitor, definitely did. Not just to see him killed, but have him damned for all eternity, cast out of the Emperor's Light, left adrift amid the sea of souls to be preyed upon by things far darker than most could imagine. He lacked the doorway to Hell of his Psyker brothers at the Schola Psykana, but he at least had an academic understanding of what awaited there. Outside the Emperor's Light, where the worst of the universe was reflected in a mirror darkly.

His words about the rifle just made him mentally smile, reminding something from the days in the Schola, an old lecture by Professor Cole. He mentally recited part of it, "Your words are strong, but your spirit is weak. They're just tools. A tool for a fighting spirit. You seek power? A tool without spirit means nothing.". He knew a lot of soldiers like that in the Guard, putting their trust in whatever weaponry they could scrounge up. Lascannons, Meltaguns, Plasma Pistols, Autocannons, Power Swords, Power Armor, and stranger devices still. But those words always rang true to him, and was proven on the battlefield. The weapon didn't matter. It was down to the righteousness of the soldier. He had seen just as many men with the fire of faith and little more than a bayonet stand against Ork Nobs, coming out victorious, as he had seen officers decked out in power armor, plasma pistols, and power fists laid low by the simple, crude stubbers of the midget greenskins and their terrible aim.

Not that he'd say it to this man yet. Let him learn the truth in his own time. Let him be damned by the corrupting influence of the Alien. Let him be cast out of the Emperor's Light, as he threatened His Holy Daughter.

A frown returned to his face "Well, now that that's over and done..." he pauses as if listening to something "Well I would like to stay and chat, but I have been summoned, we will be within range of the colony in about five hours, if you have any further questions, one of the sisters will stay behind" he then proceeds to turn to leave, his bodyguards falling in behind him, he leaves through the blast door that the other cell entered through, most of the cell follows him leaving only one of the Sister behind, the Sister doesn't move staying at the far end of the room.

((You you for want to stop him for whatever reason, I'll be willing to Retcon most of this post))

    Brother Ignatius

These are indeed deep waters we find ourselves in, thought Brother Ignatius as the man left. He remained silent until the power-armored figures had left the room, then spoke out. "Come, friends. Join me in a brief prayer to the Emperor, to pray for our success in this mission. Blessed art thou, ruler of the universe, emperor of mankind, who gives skill to the faithful and casts down the heretic. Blessed art thou, ruler of the universe, emperor of mankind, who guides the faithful through the void, and holds the darkness at bay. Blessed art thou, ruler of the universe, emperor of the mankind, guide our arms and steel our souls so that we may do your work. Amen." While praying loudly, he watched the other team, trying to see who joined in his prayer and who looked away or seemed annoyed by his benediction.

After the prayer, he approached one of the other Soritas, and said, "Greetings, sister. I was hoping to find out how the mining station normally contacts its owners, how often cargo ships come here to pick up ore shipments, that sort of thing. How long ago did the station last check in? Are there any other facilities in system, or is this colony alone in the void? If you are our reinforcements, will your team be joining us on the station, or will you remain on this ship? And will this ship remain in system for long? And finally, if I might ask you a personal question, how do you feel about working with xenos? My comrades are not used to such a thing, and neither am I. What advice, practical and spiritual, would you give us in this manner?"

The Sororitas listen quietly before replying, the helm she is wearing is distorting her voice, making it machine like and impossible to distinguish truth from lie "There is limited information that I have been authorized to reveal to you, I am not authorized to give you information on shipping, operation or distribution. However I am authorized to tell you that this is not the only colony in the vicinity, just the only one we have lost contact with and that the last time they checked it was two weeks ago, before there was a two year period of zero contact. Now as for the mission itself, your cell will be dropped of not long after mine, once dropped off the Inquisitors vessel will leave, I am unsure of when it will return, or if we will be picked up by another vessel. You will receive a one way Vox unit with which to contact my cell if you feel that the situation has escalated above your skill set, the Pass Phrase is Extremos, do not under any circumstance relay other information through this Vox, as we can't guaranty its security"

She pauses for a moment, before answering your last question "The Xenos are a necessary evil, if the Imperium is unable to give us everything we need, we will make do with what we can get. I would advise that you accept their presence, but under no circumstance, should you ever trust them"

As the prayer was beginning, Jaspar knelt down, his hand pulling out a small little pouch he carried with him, having rested under his armor and clothing, against his chest and close to his heart. It was held tight in his hands, his eyes closed and his head bowed as the priest went on what was relatively speaking a short and simplistic prayer to his mind. When the prayer was completed, he added, "Hear our woes, Faceless Saint," before putting the pouch back where it rested before, close to his heart, making the sign of the Aquila before he rose from his supplication.

He was thus only a few steps behind the priest when he approached the sister. And something about the whole thing was... wrong to him. He found himself closing his eyes, his left hand touching his shirt over where the pouch rested, and in the way the Schola taught opening his mind to the messages from the God-Emperor, to detect the presence and activity of the witch, the daemon, and the corruption of the warp upon reality, pondering if she had been bewitched by some telepath to utter such heresy and treat such insanity in a way contrary to any Sororitas he had ever known (And to be fair he knew plenty growing up).

"When has Faith and Fire ever not been enough, honored Sister?" he asked, unable to help trying to crack whatever insanity that middle manager had used to blind a noble soul.

Well, throwing some Psyniscience. However this strikes me as a skill that you might not want me to know if I'm necessarily successful, if "I feel nothing" means there IS nothing or just that I flubbed.

As such, my Psyniscience Test I leave to you. My modifiers are as follows:

31 Perception, +0 for the skill being trained to the first rank. Baseline mark of 31 before conditional modifiers.

    Sister Araleen Caul

Araleen watched the Interrogator walk from the room, not convinced that he wouldn't turn around and use the distance he had gained on them to use that Xeno weapon of his. When he and his entourage finally left she relaxed a little more and turned to the others in her group. She looked each of them over, taking note of how they were armed and what they looked like for the first time. She gave a quick nod to the guardsmen with the whip, indicating that she had seen him ready to destroy the Xenos filth at her side.

As soon as the priest started leading the prayer, she instantly joined in. The whispering familiar words automatically flowing from her in the same practiced ease as she excecuted her sword forms, while she carressed the acquila emblazened on her bodyglove.

When they finished the short devotion, Araleen followed the priest and the guardsmen with the whip and listened to the questions they posed the Sister and answers she gave. When there was a break in the back and forth she stepped forward and spoke to the armoured Sororitas
I am Araleen Caul, Sister of the Order of the Crimson Rose. Who are you Sister?
