Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
Honestly, if the Giant abandons the main plot to just tell jokes about these northern bugbears and their world-weary animal companions, I'm down. I'm totally 100% down. I for one welcome our new warg overlords.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
I really like the light being shown to contrast bugbears and owlbears. Also, I learned a new word today: elide.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
"Grim specter of noogie hangs like shroud over us all."
Greyview continues to impress with his wisdom. Also, is it just me, or is Oona coming off as being a little bit dumb?“Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit, I haven't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all.”

Nibolgs are so rare that apparently they only show up when you google image them. There is not a single written page about them in all the internet. Poor saps.

Wow, Great Beast in Shadow is pretty smart, isn't he? I don't buy it that the just "overheard some guy", he totally made that analysis himself!

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
Another fantastic page!
So... which monsters do have "trenchant political analysis" as a special attack?
Trick question! It's a special quality that improves INT-based skill checks!
*goes to look up what trenchant means*

I love the MitD lines there. And the roaches. And the worg. And Oona . . . ! Frickin' awesome.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
And an excellent comic it is! Feels a bit more politically observant than I'm used to, and I'll say no more on that subject since there's probably a rule about it.
Also, Greyview continues to bring welcome snarks. He sort of reminds me of Haley's angst projection, just in terms of line delivery. And unexpected noogies are certainly a fate to prepare for, unwelcome as they will always be. Especially from a bugbear...
Tangentially, Oona is especially amusing to me since my first ever boss fight in D&D was against a bugbear. Leading a group of orcs rather than other goblinoids, oddly enough. It was still in that stage of D&D experience before you've grown weary of creative plans and gained awareness of the tactical efficiency of more conventional combat methods, so we ended up beating him by luring him into a trap we'd bypassed earlier in the dungeon.

I used to love defenestrate until Zach Weinersmith bettered it.

This page was just rapid firing jokes, one of the funniest OotS strips for sure.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
I am facing a dilemma, because I have the urge to include a Greyview-inspired character in a game now but I'm not creative / depressed enough to come up with appropriate dialogue.
The solution of course is for Greyview to become a main character and supply us with more lines.Last edited by Kranerian; 2016-05-31 at 09:31 AM.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
Bugbears have always felt rather superfluous to me, I won't lie. Goblinoids rival elven subraces in sheer questionably-necessary variety.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
interesting strip. I am not sure how much it advances the plot.
Once thing for sure, it is does admit that bugbear like owlbear don't feel like real monster race like an orc or a goblin does.

Re: OOTS #1038 - The Discussion Thread
Somehow, I don't expect the phrase containing that word to show up in Gobotopia's textbooks.
Defenestrate is one of the few rare words I learned from a comic before I saw it in D&D. Thanks, Questionable Content!
This was a dictionary strip for me, too.
